I tried to state before the run that i’d like to try for the title and it does make people more mindful of their play but it was never a big deal if we didn’t get it. I made that clear before the run too.
It’s mostly about getting the right people on the right map and maybe getting a little lucky.
I got sniped down to 2HP on my 1st run and only lived because of a single tick of chorus.
The rest of that run was essentially perfect.
Almost made a buddy get it in a random 40s lobby where nobody used mics and that only failed because of the psyker blowing himself up after the final objective was done. Can’t control for that and it just happens sometimes. We never even stated that we would hope to get the title as me and the 2 randies already had it. Just halfway through the run, we realized that the teams play was more than good enough to get it.
I’ve had a couple of people leave mid mission, because they wouldn’t get True Survivor after somebody went down.
But yeah, luck is definitely involved. I’ve had Havoc 40’s where we’ve only ever gotten double bosses and I’ve had Havoc 40’s where bosses come out 1 by 1 without any specials or elites.
Also Gloriana should be removed from missions below Havoc 35, as it increases difficulty drastically. Getting Gloriana with pus-hardened and blight spreads can make Havoc 25 harder than Havoc 40.
When I said this in the past, a lot of players said I was totally wrong because it was better to keep, for example Chorus, to revive a teammate who had gone down.
I prefer that the said teammate can continue to fight, instead of having to revive him.
Considering multiple people have soloed Havoc 40 on a variety of maps at this point, there is really nothing special about being the first premade to do it. In the speedrun community for instance, it’s who does it best, not who does it first that counts. First is a footnote at best, but considering finishing Havoc 40 isn’t even remotely hard for good players, it wouldn’t make a Summoning Salt video if a Havoc 40 speedrun progression series was made.
I know. Same people who don’t understand the power of pre-buffing tend to keep medipacks and ammo crates until it’s too late, only willing to deploy them if 3+ people have orange ammo or low health. It may sound crazy to some people, but it’s totally okay to place ammo pack for a single person to restock or heal.
There’s no need to save the abilities, cooldown times are not that punishing, so spamming them prevents unnecessery corruption/HP damage which can lead to instant death, since on Havoc 35-40 there’s a hidden modifier where all enemies deal a certain % of corruption damage on any attack. That’s why Crushers send people right to respawn if they land their overhead, instead of just downing them like in normal auric matches.
Ideally, Zealots should always use their relic offensively by walking up to squads of shooters and elites so everyone can have easier time killing them. Especially if they run crt build with Invocation of Death, they’ll get their cooldown in less than 20 seconds anyway.
Gloriana is a joke map, where the gimmick is team coordination or even a single player walking in circles and doing the objective at mid, once that is done, nothing happens in the map past the drop down after the shuttle.
A lot of 4 man random groups that have a clutch are harder than true solos because the person clutching usually doesn’t have a build specifically made to solo and are often in a really disadvantageous situation when they’re forced to do it. What’s your point?
Multiple people have soloed Havoc 40. What you personally count doesn’t matter. We can argue which runs were harder to the moon. Darktide has an AI director on top of things like map and build variety. Run difficulty varies for a variety of reasons.
Huh? Not sure what you mean here. You mean it’s an easy map or you mean it’s broken because of how it’s designed?
Because if you mean it’s easy then I disagree. It’s by far the hardest Havoc map. Any map can be done with kiting around the objective, it’s not something unique to Gloriana. Are you saying that because of the trolley cheese where enemies can’t reach you, once you’re inside? Not everyone abuses that and it’s just one small part of the map…
It’s the only map for me where different people consistently commented on how “bad” or “unlucky” this map is to roll on the high Havoc level.
and sometimes not even then, perfectly good havoc 37 went south at the 4ss end of dark communion for he wouldn´t wanna drop the damn health to support the choke point.
the result, the pristine health pack was preserved for the next team that made a try
it´ll never make sense to me trying to conserve ressources to the point of failing a run when said ressources are ultimately lost anyways when the match goes south.
if anything they´re tools for the job that needs doing and i rather spend what i have to get one room further than die here and there with full pockets.
“oh that was the last medi pack…” yes indeed it was the “last” for there wasn´t anything beyond that wipe either… if i had 1 aquila for every such statement i could by every ogryn cosmetic for free
this menu is rather important to display, given that you can just click the button and turn down spawns, buff the player etc. it is not hard to speedrun maps, kill nothing but the specials and nothing will spawn.
many (including me) want quickplay for havoc. i just can’t stand that waste of time and motivation that is the party finder.
but fatshark could argue it’s necessary to make sure it’s a full game for everyone and not joining mid-game.
so what if they keep the party finding for a ranked mode where one can collect all the medals and titles, and quickplay works with havoc modifiers.
so everyone can choose to collect achievements, or just play without them.
i’d be happy with this since the bling is just nice to have and i don’t wear it anyway, and the achievement hunters can proceed with party finding.
“director” which breaks the second you introduce significant movement speed (high mob weapons) and low early kill count. oddly enough i spent some time docket farming by breaking 3veg sycorax before the crafting rework, not sure I would count those runs as true solo.
Except most of the solos show real time spawns, and it only takes a moment to figure out of the damage they’re receiving is legit or not. I agree that more information given to the viewer is always better, but there is more than 1 actual solo. Faster runs/runs with more kiting will have less damage dealt because the player is running past/kiting most of it.
I’ve actually long since suspected that the solo mod screws with the spawns in general even if the settings aren’t lowered. The intensity and density never seem as high as clutch moments in standard server-hosted matches.
that is usually because people intentionally avoid killing things, to progress through the map in under 30 mins and have less enemies to fight. 400k damage dealt is just reg heresy at that point.
The game is what the game is. I too find that running and kiting is way too effective, but that’s just how the game plays. Ask Fatshark to implement counter measures. Using the most effective strat isn’t cheating.
I could say using Zealot at all is cheese because the class has enormous advantages over the over classes in solo, or any weapon that has higher than default mobility. Etc, etc.
