So, how do people feel about the arbites class?

We’re still in the dark have some bits without full context. Hesitantly excited but mostly for good boi and good voice actors.

Well, personal preferences do come into play, of course, but I think many developers and creators choose to only share general information without revealing too many details about updates, because they want players to experience things for themselves.
As for me, I don’t really mind whether the skill tree is made public or not before releas, I’m fine either way until I actually get to play it.

Agreed, and this is not meant as a jab at Kitefin, but I’m convinced Strawhat’s departure from the CM position will result in an enormous shift in communication, returning to the state it was in (absolute silence) before Strawhat joined Fatshark.

I want to be wrong, but I can’t escape the feeling that I’m not.

I’m excited for Arbites, but communication about what to expect from the class and marketing has been incredibly bad so far, and if I hadn’t already been a Darktide fan and someone showed me the extended video, I’m not sure I would be interested.

My god, where u are all from? I mean peoples that want ALL information about future class.

Next thing u ask is 1000hrs arbiter review before launch date?

Take patience at least.

Sweden.

I want Fatshark to improve the way they advertise because they have a long history of being less than stellar at it and locked in their ways, doing/trying nothing different.

Showing a Sedition gameplay without even rotating characters to show different weapons and ultimates to sell the class to the current playerbase is a… choice, and many of us are reminded by this exact video of Fatshark’s terrible communication prior to Strawhat (who is now gone).

Talking about the class skill tree in text without even showing a picture of it.

Common now, bruv.

I must say it. What I said is not pointing at the CM. CMs do what they can within the boundaries set by the company.
The problem is not the CM, but what they are allowed to tell us, and when.

Compare with other companies.
Compare with trailers of Helldivers 2 made by a company they rent just for this.
Compare that with the Dune launch and the several hours of video that showed the beginning and then the advanced and even the end game.
Compare with any company… usually when a company wants to sell something, they talk about it. They detail it, they send you several emails, they make conferences, videos, presentations, release informations on Twitch, show trailers…

What did we get?

  • a general blog about voices
  • a blog about the dog
  • a video at malice difficulty of 7 minutes of gameplay without explication

We have to guess the weapons, the blitz, the abilities (it seems several see them, must admit I could not watch 7 minutes of low intensity fights) etc. We are at few days of the release, we cannot preorder it and we will surely have to wait the release to get informations from… the players that will buy it.
Sure the day before the release (or 2) we will have the talent tree on game lantern.

I’m buying the class regardless of whether it is good or not. I want more than just Zealot and Ogryn for my playstyle.

Bad strawman argument.

Well when I say still in dark not saying I need it all now either just not enough information to make a conclusive feeling about what’s not yet here either. I’m fine waiting but also not jumping to conclusions.

PS: I did just take apart my keyboard piece by piece for a proppa cleaning in anticipation of this patch… so maybe am a lil excited.

yeah, so ?

thats the whole point, knowing if a new class is worth your commitment and potential change in playstyle.

like switching a fighting game main char.

the least one could know is the talent tree by now and available weaponry.

20€ aint my concern but going into the char blind when after a certain testing time i find it lacking or unfit of my style, its the time i rather invest in improving my game.

plus time waiting is time i could spend making a build on gameslantern :man_shrugging:

Screenshot or not true… that’s a big claim never even heard it confirmed as happening just hoping a fools hope. (And reworks are my biggest inputs)

Here let me help you: Introducing: Dev Blog - Arbites Talent Tree

I’m not suggesting there are more reworks coming. I meant we got info about the reworks before the came out, like the ogryn tree being greenlit to be added to the build editor on Gameslantern before release.

Well, if half the cry babies in the forums get their way the Arbiter will not be a unique class and will be just as boring as the other classes.

We’ll have to see.
I don’t know one way or another how powerful (or not) it is/isn’t.

I’m really interested to see how their class performs, and how their weapons perform.

The class and its abilities appear very uninspired. The dog lacks much nuance. Visually it looks amazing, but my bet is the dogless build will be meta and strictly deprecate Zealots. Overall I don’t plan on buying it unless the game itself is fixed from 2014 errors.

So far, I love everything about it–the cyber dog, shielded weapons, and shock-themed abilities. It’s a no-brainer for me. I just hope it won’t be too buggy.

When it comes to ethics…

  1. I don’t really care. I do what I want.
  2. Darktide is a live-service game, so it needs to be monetized in some way. So far, the new class seems like the best content you can buy for your money.
  3. If anything is questionable, it’s the pricing of cosmetics, the use of in-game currency that obscures real-money value, and techniques that incentivize players to purchase more currency than needed. Selling a class on Steam at this price, in my opinion, is an improvement.
  4. This isn’t a PvP game where owning an exclusive class gives you an advantage over other players. As long as base classes receive ongoing support or remain relevant, I’m happy.

After seeing the details, I’m quite disappointed. Not only does the new class have superior base stats and an extra companion, but it also comes with very strong and appealing talents, blitzes, abilities, and keystones.

At first glance, it’s clearly the strongest class in Darktide by far, capable of soloing the game with ease, and it completely overshadows the rest. I absolutely hate that. Marketing nonsense is ruining the balance.

My only hope is that the base classes will eventually be brought up to a similar level.

Wait, you mean Fatshark has solved the solo mode complaint with the use of a new class? Two birds with one stone!
