I made another post, because there are not enough posts to discuss this.
Simple binary answers only? Yes.
Yes, massively.
Yes. Tremendously.
I agree with the three posters above me: Yes, the Arbites is OP, or not. It pretty much has to be one or the other.
Like Ogryn ? Yes.
I think they were worried that without a lot of DoT (I know about the bolt pistol puncture/dog bomb that hopefully gets fixed) and the weapons given they might be bad and then way overcompensated them.
Still prefer OG classes in high havoc. Arbitres seem to bring only rough damage mostly. Nuncio aquila and electro bomb feels weaker than taunt, shout, chorus, bubble + all the auras. When any of the og classes are missing in the group you can feel it.
Maybe there are just too many bad arbiters right now so they can’t pull out anything other than numbers in the scoreboard
All 5 avatars are. That’s why there’s a havoc40.
Ahh. Sorry. I can see this reply was not helpful.
Yes they are.
But the truth is that:
- psyker deals the highest damages (remind me the APU on Neocron if someone played it)
- ogryn is now a tank (reminds me the gentank of Neocron)
- zealot is the survivor
I feel that zealot is a little behind, and veteran a lot behind (even if with a PG a veteran can deal the highest HP, obviously they should not buff vet without correcting too strong weapons)
Powercreep ftw… because patch after patch, they increase our power. And patch after patch, the difficulty vanishes.
Problem, there is nothing above the current difficulties. And Havoc has split the community.
The Arbites class probably over tuned to make the purchase more attractive.
It invites the “feel good” factor of new player doing Auric easily without needing to dodge or block via constant stagger.
Feel good, feel powerful, now wanting to commit to a game under false skill confidence, now buy some skins!
I agree that the Arbites talent tree is over-tuned. They seem to be able to do many things quite well - they may not be able to do any one thing as well as one of the base classes, but still too well imo. Tanking, melee dps, ranged dps, crowd control, special killing, etc. They just don’t feel like they have a palpable weakness in the way that the other classes do. My zealot, for example, feels like he is noticeably not that good at ranged dps and countering shooters/gunners. And there’s a lot of those in this game, so that can be a significant weakness.
I think the dog is over-tuned as well. He is so effective that I actually picked the no-dog talent just because I felt like the game was playing itself (in my favor) with the dog active. I think it should require a significant point investment for the dog to be as effective as he is by default.
Regarding the Arbites weapons, I think that the only one that feels truly overpowered is the arbites shock maul (without shield) - it does a ton of damage, has good horde clear and single target, can kill crushers VERY quickly, has stun, fast swing speed. No real weakness. As a zealot main, I can’t help but compare it to the thunder hammer, which has very noticeable weaknesses to balance its strengths. The arbites shock maul can kill a crusher in almost the same time, with none of the risk of the thunder hammer.
I agree - I think the dog’s tremendous fun, but if I had to choose between the dog autonomously:
- Pinning enemy Elites and/or Specials
- Damaging enemy units
or - Guarding my back against PHounds and non-elites, pinning and fairly-quickly killing them
I’d think any one of those plenty. But it does all three.
Yes, and the mechanics would be fun even without the stupid damage.
I don’t care, I’m having fun with it. That’s what’s important to me.
It for certain is annoying. The dog as well as that damn push. You hoard a horde ready for killing, along comes the dog Karen and swoosh they are all over the place. It’s worse than fighting next to an ogrin. Feels like I am constantly swinging through air around them.
I think your underselling the nuncio aquilla, it’s not as obvious what it’s doing but a 30% toughness damage reduction, constant regen, HALVING enemy melee attack rate and reducing their damage by 30% for a full 20 seconds is a pretty strong ability, it has a small radius and a long cooldown which is tough but it’s more than halving incoming damage and shuts down melee swarms
i think atm most of the arbite’s strength is in how strong their (exclusive) weapons are and how little filler they have in their skill tree, compared to veteran where i have to pay 3 points if i dare to want to switch from the left side to the right side, arbites have it very easy
Eh in a vacuum? Maybe. In reality nah.
The average auric player on Arbite isn’t doing anything gamebreaking. Ogryn is still going to be better in most situations, and the upper skill levels of players are still going to be able to out perform it with psyker and zealot, the two classes we have seen that are quite capable of H40 solos.
The major issues with Arbite are castigator being a get out of jail free card, and having 4 arbites in a group, because of how anti special 4 dogs winds up being.
Arbite certainly feels a lot more broken than it is if you are running 4 of them.
So.. is it OP? Yes, but so is Ogryn, Zealot, Psyker, and even vet’s shout are OP. Everything has been powercrept.
Class has some broken interactions, overall well balanced. If you’re looking for broken stuff, you mostly find it in games nowadays…
