smoke grenades are awful and should be replaced with anything else. at their very best they’re a worse version of zealot’s stunstorm and at their worst they are literally griefing the team by obscuring visability.
i have a few suggestions but really anything would be an improvement
my favorite is a personal teleporter, similar to the old unreal tournament teleporters, throw it out, once it lands somewhere valid activate again to instantly appear at that location. excellent for shortcutting to problem enemies or escaping a bad spot, runs on a cooldown like rocks, grenade tinkerer lets you activate it again while it’s on cooldown to return to your original position. just make sure to break this when you go through airlocks.
another idea are “magic mags” you press the blitz button and your magazine is instantly refilled from reserve, no animation just boop, full mag, refills on ammo packs like zealot knives, tinkerer gives you a couple fire rounds at the top of the mag or something.
yet another idea are some kind of stim/cloud thing. it hangs out low to the ground so it’s not obscuring visibility, and teammates that move through it get a lingering buff (movement speed, stun immunity, attack speed) or something like that, maybe enemies get slowed moving through it with tinkerer.
really though bare minimum change the smoke effect so it’s only like a foot above the ground so at least it doesn’t block everyone’s view of the enemy. that needs to stop lol.
No they’re not, you’re just bad at the game because you’re trying to speed solo the mission. Learn to play as a team.
Personally, I use smokes to pinpoint spawn locations and block their visions. Plus I use them to block the sniper from shooting us, which is the point. You can’t have the complete stealth build if you don’t use smokes. Maybe you should learn to play with them.
or they’ll make it a “flashbang”, which would just be a lesser version of the stun grenade since fatshark likes giving the vet b-tier versions of zealot abilities already lol
I agree they suck, I had a game where someone was using them and was confused until i realised how I couldn’t see anything was then spamming these things.
I was thinking since they talk about putting stims in the air for workers why they dont make it some sort of Stim grenade thats buffs everyone in its radius but also for a short time after exiting (like maybe 5 seconds with perhaps the grenade improvement upping it to 15) would increase movement speed, attack speed for melee weapons and power. Only issue is lore wise its not really been done.

Would he interesting, have them start off completely frozen but slowly have the enemy start moving in slow motion as the grenades power source runs low before finally returning to regular speed.

My best guess at this point to explain their hate-boner is that in times past, a veteran stole FatShark’s high school sweetheart and this is their chance for revenge.
Honestly this would be somewhat okay, if you consider the fact that veterans can regenerate grenades, so it would be less useful, but much more readily available.
Personally, I think replacing it with a non-grenade based Blitz would be nice, be more variety than grenade-grenade-grenade. The other classes all get a unique thing (rocks, knives, and Psykers being Psykers) so why not a powerful single shot handgun for the Veteran that recharges over time (a la the Saltzpyre Bounty Hunter special from VT2)? I’d take it over the krak grenade in a shot (pun intended).
I’d like to see something counter fire (maybe water balloons). Seriously maybe an ice grenade that puts out fire and freezes enemies. Just spitballing here. It would be nice to have something to counter the, sometimes, multiple bombs the Bombers have thrown, and maybe the Flamer too.
