while the things announced are a welcomed addition, the way it is presented feels a bit confusing.
in times of dwindling player numbers, with every “bounce back” getting flatter and flatter, who thought it a good idea to invest into a card/board game when the main game related presentation is a 30 sec clip of which 12 seconds are company logos ?
its not that a side thingie takes away from the content getting done it just devalues whats shown when stuff thats not asked for gets “the limelight”
plus i’d wager for board game figures to get an audience the source of it would have to get boosted into popularity in the first place.
honestly i don’t know the numbers of people playing both, tabletop and pc games, but i’d wager those invested deeply into darktide arent playing cards or figures.
heck i eke out about 10% of my whole hobby time for painting/building/printing figures despite enjoying the topic, but the game is just so damn addicting.
darktide fuels my warhammer interests, not the other way round. when darktide goes down someday the stuff around it doesnt stand on its own.
to “feel” the stuff around it, figures and whatnot, i need to have “felt” the game before, recreating some cool moments i had in there.
this worked well for fallout i.e me buying my favorite power armor figure having spend countless hours in it ingame.
same with ogryn mcfarlane figures right now, oggy feels like a second skin, so actually painting/printing stuff for it makes me happy.
but only after getting fired up playing him ingame.
so yeah, i like having a new map and weaponry, looking forward smashing some heretics with em, only to have passion met wlth passion would have made for a much more enticing presentation.
no matter how much content there’ll be, it’ll be burned through eventually, the difference though lies in the presentation and implementation.
guess that would at least keep more people stick around.
