Orox MKII + MKII versus Brunts Basher MK IIIb Bully Club
both weapons have good heavies that work good with the left skilltree.
The shield and Clubs i use are good, shield has a perk that is not optimal
For the Club idk what i should look for Skullcrusher IV or something different.
I feel the Clubs heavies are faster, but i miss the shield versus Gunners sometimes.
Shieldgryn is downright OP now (AS IT SHOULD BE) with fantastic utility and can be built to be the Ultimate Support Ogryn. It’s my favorite.
Club is more for if you just want to ruin the lives of everything in melee range and can be built more for damage outright rather than stagger/suppression.
You want support? Build the shield out with bleed stacks and toughness on heavy talents, pick a grenade to compliment whatever ranged weapon you want, and stack as many toughness modifiers as possible afterwards while taking the ‘taunt on block’ perk and Feel No Pain keystone for extra clutch.
You want options? Take heavy attack clubgryn and build out to ruin the day of everything with the left-hand tree, you’ll still be tanky for yourself and will do even more damage. Just don’t take Crunch! because it’s a waste of a point.
i had used the Shield lately, but got that grey 377 Club and saw Haymaker IV at Melk.
Thought i should buy for the Haymaker only, consecrate the grey and hope for something good to put Haymaker IV on it.
Luckily i did consecrate the grey 377 first, because it got Haymaker IV and i didnt need to buy the one at Melk.
I havent used the Shield Ogryn that much supportive and used taunt - tried it, but didnt like it that much. So i think my style is more agressive.
I’ll try some clubbing and also read the Ogrynomicon again about it.
Just forgot i have the link in my favorites.
good suggestion tbh, while the Club has also good heavies, the lights are almost good enough for the hordes and it save me some points for ranged maybe.
I’ll look into that - thanks!
Don’t get the taunt ult - you’ll rarely need it. Instead, grab the dash, and grab the ‘taunt on block’ perk. This lets you turn gunners and shooter mobs from ‘suppressive threat to entire team’ to ‘ha ha get headshot as you plink at a wall idiot’ with the shield. It also forces shooters out of cover as they run out to melee you which your vets and psykers will thank you for. You’ll want the dash instead of the ult because it’s far more useful for saving teammates and clutching, and it lets you be more aggressive and get in people’s face more.
Both are very good weapons. Shield works great with any melee centric thanks to batter being amazing. Though without the bleeds I’m less impressed with it since it lacks haymaker to improve its horde clear.
3b club works well in any builds. My main one is skullcrusher/thunderous for maximum melee damage output with heavy hitter. But I also have a haymaker/thunderous club for FNP melee builds and a confident strike/skullcrusher club for ranged and hybrid builds. Though tbh I prefer the cleaver 3 & 4 for builds that don’t take any toughness talents and rely on blessings for active toughness generation.
I also still like the OG club with haymaker/thrust and crunch for the really big overhead heavies.
While the charge is a lot easier to use they’re both perfectly fine ults. With good positioning you rarely feel the mobility loss and the instant interrupt of the taunt can be very handy at times.
It would be nice to get the range of the taunt increased though. 12m can be a little annoying at times, but with practice it’s not a big deal.
i know you meant that and i tried that also, its good its in my Shieldbuild.
actually trying some Gunlugger styles with the Club and heavy Stubber (Gorg).
I paired the shield with a Kickback and played a lot of Rumbler last year.
I’m a returner and have just found out about new weapons, skilltee etc. for some weeks. Had palyed a lot at launch, but after ~500hrs paused.
Now there were the new maps and steam came up with a history and Darktide was 2nd most played game. had 1200hrs on Gloria Victis.
i see, used the MKIII Cleaver last year as my standard melee, but want something else.
I just played some kind of Gunlugger build, testing aroudn with it and immediately knew i have no toughness regen from kills.
But the Stubber is fun tbh and the club is fast wirh lights.
I just need to get used to it better.
Club is fine for ranged builds, you just really want to use toughness blessings instead of the talents so you can save some points. Lynchpin with large amounts of toughness regen on your curios is also good.
I mostly prefer the cleavers for ranged builds due to the greater mobility. Handy for looking for more ammo.
i’ve used both extensively, but i’ve stuck with the club, and the shovel from time to time, for the past month or so. i’ll switch to the shield if the team comp needs it, but i find the club to just be so much fun. just depends which one suits your play style more and/or which you feel like is more satisfying.
i just got Best Defence on the top and bring heavies to the horde when i see my tougness depletes. works fine i guess. both +25 Toughnesss and a +17% Curio, looking for a second one, but i think i’m good at least for heresy.
Stubber with Point Blank and lucyk bullet + 25% ammo reserve is fun, maybe not that good like shield and kickback, but very fun anyway.
Not sure if Peacemaker with the Stubber makes sense. It’s more for kickback, rumbler, Launcher?
I dont think i hit 5 with a single attack.
Using Hail of Fire (Rending), not sure the the burns are better?!?
IIIb club and XIX shovel are really fun and efficient vs. horde and also not that bad for elites and specialists.
the Heavy Hitter bleed Build is very strong but gets a little bit boring, because you literally only spam heavies and sometimes shoot something.
The Gunlugger, Club, Cleaver, Shovel builds seem to be a bit more challenging, but have some more varietey to gameplay.
But that is just from very little experience with both of my builds.
it has the best dodge distance, but i dont like single target with melee.
I mostly want melee to cleave hordes, Bull Cleaver was allways good, but i get the preference for the MK IV Cleaver.
Clubs over mace & shield, for improved mobility, dodges and visibility (also for your team mates). Skullcrasher and Thrust for blessings. Club special attacks can still fairly reliably stager monsters, with the exception of beast(?), if you build right, due to the power level.
Mk I is beter at killing elites, thanks to a fast heavy strikedown, I wish Mk II was also slightly better, it just feels slow. I don’t really like club light atacks, their shitty power and animations, 3b has the best lights from all 3.
The blessings maybe dont fit together, but i use chained heavies to replenish toughness. So i start with lights, add brittleness and if i got hit chain some heavies.
it’s ok i guess.
i also like better overview compared to shield although i got used to it.
will try the Skullcrusher and Thrust combo if i find some. Have only Skullcrusher III.
Yeah, good luck with exploring new options. Fatshark doesn’t like giving you freedom with gameplay variety, its all down to RNG odds which are stack against you.
I think your shield has a better setup than the basher, but personally I prefer using the 3b at the moment.
I have one with haymaker for a specific gunlugger build that doesn’t have good armor damage or rending. Bleed, I think, is superior horde clear, but haymaker let’s me do ok and save ammo for stuff that matters.
