Servers are COOKED

Issue Description (Required):

Currently the servers are barely holding togheter. Atleast 1 kick from auric (average = 5) every 10/15 sec a 3/4 sec long stutter. The game also uses abnormal cpu usage.

Attempted Solutions (Optional):

Removing all mods, when even as far as to check my hardware. tried new termal paste even cause my cpu was 95 degrees and crashing my pc.

Platform (Required):

PC - Microsoft Store

[PC] PC Specifications (Optional):

Win: 10
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: RX 7600 XT
Ram: 32
SSD

That’s not the servers…

sounds like thermal throttling to me

i had some issues yesterday on EU. 3 missions failed and booted everyone . teleporting dogs ghost hits etc

temparature is definately its own problem, but eu servers been a bit wonkey as of yesterday.

usually in the 25-40is latency, went up to 70+ while applying the same filters as always.
and not havoc which puts you whereever sadly but auric maelstrom where server filters should apply

Max temp for that CPU is 95oC. Which is incredibly high for a CPU, so if you’re hitting anything even close to that then almost certainly something is awry with your PC build (as others above have said). You could probably give something like Prime95 a go; it’s an oldie but likely still valid.

Probably worth doing the thermal paste and reseating your cooler again
Or upgrading it if it’s a cheapo.

if he use watercooling, I would check that also…

But definitively, something is wrong in his setup. I actually use the Intel new gen, so my CPU is not even working in Darktide (as a result I have temp around 45-50°c). But even with my old CPU, I have never reached 95°c.

I’ve got a I9 14900k that thing is a magma core, had to manually limit it because it would go full power and overheat immediately on starting any game.

Before that I’ve tried to increase thermal throttling but had similar results games started to stutter sometimes and the heating problem only was delayed by maybe an hour
anyway while throttling the cpu still ran at 90° similar to OP

Applied new paste, temp problem is solved but still on the high end, darktide is the only game this Happens. Playing much more demanding games with lower temps and higher frames.

To clarify, this is only is happening since latest patch, atleast this bad

Demand is not a linear graph, games can look like dog water and still demand a decent amount of your CPU. And DT with its high number of independent entities is known to be CPU heavy.

since latest patch you say,
first things first check if your resolution got defaulted to something else, then yer got the newest drivers?
you got Ryzen Masters onyour PC?

Checked all the settings. I run native resolution since upscaling wrecks my performance. I didnt have ryzen master first but installed it after I got hard hard crashes. That is were i was sure about the temp isues.

Adjusted fan speed and reaplied paste (also cleaned it first)

Temp is better but still get kicked most matches, stutter is there also most of the time but some matches there is none.

Thinking about doing a fresh Windows install

I don’t think it will solves anything.

If it is only Darktide, maybe try to deactivate several threads

I would begin by trying to disable SMT just to eliminate that. Then I would try by deactivating several threads on my CPU.

To be fair; that thing is rated at 125W whereas the 5600X is only 65W - so about half the heat generation if you’re happy to equate Watts to heat

A 5600X should not be hitting 95C. That is not normal. You need to sort that out.

So i did everything I could but it didnt solve the problem.

Currently doing a fresh install and ordered a new cooler just to be sure since it still hits 80 c.

I havent changed a single thing on my system so im kinda clueless on what it could be, ill keep you updated when i changed the cooler and wind.

I tried lowering treats in the settings of darktide but didnt help :frowning:

What are the other games that are running fine? It could help to understand how we can compare them to Darktide.

Tbh, I can’t see one other reason to see such high temperature with your CPU other than a problem with a component.
I can be wrong… but as you’re not the only one that has this CPU, if it was the CPU you would not be alone.
Normally, a CPU throttle and the cooling solution would make it running under these limits
For the 5000 serie, 95°c is the absolute max. It would be normal on 7000 serie, fine on intel 14th serie, a lot too high on the Arrow lake serie (105 is the max, but the CPU run cooler than 75°, usually I am around 50°c)… but 95° with your CPU, something is clearly wrong.
And unless you run benchmarks in the background of Dakrtide, I can’t see one reason why the CPU could go high in temperature like that.
And if it was a graphic card question you would not have such behavior…

But, let’s conclude.
For sure, this is not server related. Personally I would check components. If you have a watercooling unit, I would check it (got the exact same problem and it was the water that was not moving in the circuit).
However, I am far from a specialist…
