Issue Description (Required):
Before anyone says anything: this is 100% a serverside issue. My connection is fine and the ingame mission select reports 30-50ms ping. All of my inputs are reflected on the screen responsively before they are overridden by the server. Everyone and everything else’s movement shows on my screen responsively just fine. The ONLY thing affected is my own character.
I installed the game only about a week ago and my first few missions were fine, this problem started very suddenly and severely in the latter half of a mission but has persisted constantly since through multiple days and restarts. It renders the game entirely unplayable as my character skids around in random directions and 80% of my inputs fail to register, with weapon swings and shots appearing to hit enemies and then undoing themselves and refunding the ammo, having to mash the weapon switch button repeatedly for it to eventually register or the previous weapon just gets yanked right back into my hands, inability to block or dodge on time, etcetera.
A burning question this raises to me is: why is the ENTIRE game run on serverside authority? It’s an exclusively PvE game. Nobody is running 1000$ tournaments on here, and it already has an invasive anticheat constantly running in the background anyway, and has a cost to entry. And the server unilaterally overrides every single thing. Why on earth is the SERVER dictating to my CLIENT PROGRAM what WEAPON I AM HOLDING at every given moment??? Give the client SOME freedom over decisions, for god’s sake.
Also, why is there no input buffer whatsoever?
Attempted Solutions (Optional):
Using a VPN reduces the severity of the problem usually for some reason, but even with it there are still frequent “attacks” of dropped inputs that make the prospect of playing higher difficulties entirely unapproachable, and after a few games even this will just stop working.
