Scier Gaze is the most overtuned in terms of bonuses active ability in the game. Yes a lot of us enjoyed it on melee builds before all reworks. Yes, it was quite tricky to play that way, but enjoyable. A bit like melee HS atm. And yes you could try playing melee psy even before SG existed. I personally enjoyed quite a bit of Obscurus with the OG Electro-staff.

If you are a real psyker player, you should know the first rework of psyker tree makes melee psyker useful, not the original version of tree. Before that, most of gunker would rather use bubble just because scrier would easily cause overload and hit psyker down. Do you really play psyker? Your words look so strange.

for me, one of the most difficult things to do consistently as psyker was managing peril under pressure. it’s like playing with 2 health bars. gaze gave one power, but always came with this reminder not to take too much of it. then warp unbound took away this constraint, and one can almost chain one gaze to another without break. tbh i still enjoy it more than spewing blue flames everywhere, which seems rather cheap to me. but scum’s rampage would be much more enjoyable if they took away either the added vulnerability or the loss of stamina. i’d rather be squishy for a few seconds, but able to sprint and fight.
That could work! I would go for Warp Unbound: “Upon exiting Warp Unbound grace period, you become Exhausted for 10s, losing the ability to use any Warp Attacks during this time.”
As for other nerfs to Scrier’s:
2.5% Toughness per sec → 2.5% Stam per sec
20% TDR → 20% Dodge Recovery
Those last two changes would emphasize Psyker’s need for good gameplay rather than rewarding damage face-tanked as that’s more Ogryn/Zealot’s niche IMO.
Yeah the stam loss is a big one, damage can be mitigated through good gameplay but losing that much stam regen in a melee situation is brutal
If you have learn about scrier’s gaze. You should know almost all of the buffs (includes modifer talent) take effect only before overload reaching 100%. After that, you have only time-over damage up. Before the tree rework, scrier only need seconds to overload. With other warp skills, this ability is a sudden flying can. Useless and short.
As I said, good players really knew how to work it. They used it either together with things like:

And other quelling sources, or they simply accepted that the uptime would be a short and very powerful burst of power on weapons with less/no access to that.
You are the best psyker player, but apparently you don’t know that psyker was the strongest class for C-I-V-I maelstrom missions with scriers gaze back then. Very fragile, but the strongest. Maybe the title you give yourself is not deserved?
You mean I need to spend a blessing which can increase my over 30% damage on scrier, so that I can make it continue for several seconds? That’s trash, you can’t even understand this blessing only occur once per hit.

You can probably go look up footage of how other, better players played the early version of scriers gaze on maelstroms and had unparallelled performance. I don’t claim to be the best psyker, only someone with severe ego issues and a limited intellect would do that.
You can show your skill, but you didn’t. I’ve played true duo psykers havoc 40 with scrier and know it usually behave bad in high difficulty. If you can find another one who can play true duo scrier and admit you, that will be ok. But you seems like a real armchair gamer and don’t know what psyker builds are.

I’ve complete all modifers combinations of havoc 40 true duo. Here’s the scrier duo psyker one.
Thanks to soulblaze. In auric game vent can deal much more damage than scrier, bubble can provide teammates and get higher win rates. All scrier have is only high direct damage. But soulblaze can do much better on kill.
Fair enough, but I think you probably still didn’t play melee Psyker when Scrier’s Gaze was new and don’t know about how it was balanced at the time
