Scoreboard is making this community TOXIC

I once encountered some players doing erotic roleplay on the Mourningstar. I guessed this was a rare occurrence but it may be a more prevalent problem than I realized. Are some regions more thirsty than others?

I donā€™t agree that a scoreboard makes someone toxic because, as you said yourself, toxic people will stay toxic. The scoreboard makes it easy to point at a number and use that for toxicity but it never stops someone from being toxic.

Iā€™ve had the opposite happen too. Someone was being toxic and making all sorts of claims eventhough they didnā€™t have a scoreboard and I was then able to use the numbers to tell them that theyā€™re the one being carried and not the one carrying.

Also, the only people I see use scores for toxicity reasons are bad at the game and do it to make themselves feel better.
Once you know that, it makes it a lot harder to take that crap seriously.

i dont want to call out Antilus now, i like some of his posts recently, but he said what is true (even if i disagree with some of what he said in that thread).

and this is also what i remember from the launch and fist month and believe is still a thing.
Cannot say how it is today, because i just play Heresy+, but i would bet a box of beer that a lot of people just farm Sedition/ Malice by speedrunning giving a sh!it about their team, because they can easily solo it.

Like people who are less skilled or just not able to do what others can do and do not belong into Damnation or Auric mission, players who play Auric regularily can play Sedition but then should help the team and be supportive and not too eager or they just dont belong in such easier difficulties.
Itā€™s mostly bad gamedesign or missing limitations that People start to ā€œexploitā€ low difficulties just to farm coins for Melk.

Agreed.

Iā€™m no fan of it either, but Iā€™d be opposed to banning it because of the precedent it would set.

Besides, the easiest solution is to just mute VOIP.

Just skip the ending room, no need to complain more.

This should be standard to have a scoreboard in a game.

I donā€™t know where you find ā€œtheseā€ people, but I didnā€™t encountered them once in many hours of gameplay. And if you canā€™t handle it, just mute people and thatā€™s it.

I use the scoreboard (not for the ā€œscoresā€œ, but for the real numbers).
Having the ability to judge your performance (as well as that of other players) and the ability to analyze the performance of different builds, simply makes the game better.

That said, i have never seen anyone complain about anyoneā€™s performance, based on the scoreboard (after >1000hrs playtime).

I have seen a few cases where i and others suggested that someone should play on a lower difficulty.
The case where i made this suggestion was, when a player died pretty much every single time they encountered an enemy and spent about as much time on the floor as on their feet (high int stg damnation).

I think op might be a player who got criticized for playing far beyond their skill level.
So clearly, instead of accepting reality (and playing on an appropriate difficulty), the solution to the problem is, to lie about the situation and claim that there is a huge issue with massive abuse (all because of the evil scoreboard elitism), in the attempt to ban everyone from seeing facts.

It is much easier to lie to yourself (and make yourself believe that all criticism is unjustified and just toxic), if you can not see reality and if you know that nobody who criticizes you, can see reality either.

Did you play Vermintide 2 with its built in score board?

God no. Get a scoreboard in the game so that I can compare with my previous runs. I guarantee that if you run with me I will never treat you badly nor complain about your score, but itā€™s a huge problem that I cannot use it to improve my own play which is all I really care about (itā€™s not like I can improve other peopleā€™s play anyway).

With that saidā€¦ until the loot situation is fixed Iā€™m not likely coming back, and the longer it takes the more likely it is that I just stay away. Itā€™s not like they ever fixed the loot of V2 either and that has, eve though it is orders of magnitude better than what they have here, always sucked as well.

i agree with your post, just beeing curious what you think about Damnation/ Auric players playing Sedition and Malice for Melk speedruns and not a helpfulll teammember for those who cannot rush or easily beat this difficulties?!?

While this is absolutely true there is nothing excusing rude behaviour. You can tell someone to play at lower levels without being an ass about it. Iā€™m not saying you are, btw, I have no way of knowing :).

800+ hours in DT damnation+ on eu, 1300+ hours in V2 cata.
Heard scoreboard mentioned one time in DT.

Every time i noticed someone performing exceptionally during gameplay,
is shown to be exceptional on scoreboard as well.

Game is about killing things, the faster you do it, the better you are. No thread no problems.

This is, without a doubt, one of the silliest posts Iā€™ve ever seen.

This comes pretty close to capturing my opinion on the scoreboard mod.

I have over 2k hours in Darktide at this point. In all that time, Iā€™ve run into maybe two or three players who complained about other team members because of some random statistic they happen to be tracking. Itā€™s not exactly common, and when it does happen, those people end up on the block list. End of discussion.

Itā€™s rather more common to see people chasing elite/special kills or some other arbitrary metric at the expense of doing something else that would actually benefit the team far more. Iā€™d have less of a problem with the scoreboard if it was just a STATboard. The fact that youā€™re assigning an arbitrary score to certain behavior by definition means you are trying to drive player behavior, not just provide a tool for analysis.

From my experience, itā€™s generally not true that the scoreboard drives toxic behavior. But it does drive behavior that I consider counterproductive. I donā€™t want it banned (that would just be a blatant overreaction), but I canā€™t say Iā€™m fond of it either.

This seems to be the case imo.

The way some people seem to do it, is pretty dumb.

I can understand players who run a few missions on low diff to quickly finish the last few missions just before weekly reset.
So far, a totally reasonable thing to do.

However, you can only finish a mission when everyone (who lives) enters the exit point.
Which means that rushing ahead only makes you actually finish the mission faster, if you enable your teammates to follow quickly.

Players who rush ahead without clearing, and then agro dump on their teammates, are stupid and do not act in anyoneā€˜s interest. Not even in their own.
(Unless their plan is to get all teammates killed. In that case, ban them.)

Joining a diff far above or below your skill lvl can be annoying for the teammates, but i would assume that the overall number of players on the low difficulties is pretty high and that the relative number of high lvl players who rush weeklies there, are pretty low.

Every SINGLE round I play, at least 2 but usually all 3 of the other players keep talking about stats and builds. Iā€™ve played for about 500 hours now and every game Iā€™ve played, Iā€™ve had pretty much 3 other elitists ruining the game for me.

I know what you guys are going to say: just stop joining their strike teamā€¦ but they are my friends dammit

Ngl you had me in the first half.

Edit: maybe we all misunderstood op and they have the same ā€œissueā€œ that you have.
