Rpg style revamp for this game in october, is this real?

Hm. Hm. Hm. That’s something Vermintide 2 does:

This.

We now have the melee damage dealer - we’ll get a tank (Bullgryn) and a ranged Gungryn…

I really hope the new archetypes are coupled with new weapons (powersabre with offhand laspistol, and chainsword with offhand polt pistol, mundane sabre with offhand plasma pistol for seargant for example) and new cosmetics (bullgry n without proper armor ist just meh…) accompanying the classes…

one of the biggest mistakes of V2 is melee only classes, it was fine when it only was slayer, but going up to three, combined with ammo less weapons like the jav, or moonbow, they truly degraded the whole spiel around ammunition…
these days you could be thinking that resource management was never all that important, since it happend so slowly and quite unnoticeable but it really was at some point.

tl:dr keep the importance of managing ammo supply intact.

@Mayson

Except there is a major difference between VT2 and DT. It’s the presence of ranged enemies.
In VT2 you have the Slayer, who has no range mitigation except the grenades it can pick up and the Throwing Axe. The rest come from flanking or waiting for the enemy ranged weapon to subside (Reload or other) to move forward. The Grail Knight get it’s shield passive to be able to move forward and the WP get a defensive ability to be able to survive but largely depend on grenades and allies to deal with ranged.

For VT2 it’s all good and all, but VT2 has 4 proper ranged units (Not counting close ranged ones): Ratlinguns; Gas Rats; Tornado Sorcerer and Archers. This mean that even if you have a team with nearly only close ranged solutions you can still deal with it quite nicely.

Now if you take in DT, you have Gunners and Stalker, which are normal units, so they aren’t spawning alone, we have Gunners (Basically Ratlingun) being moved to elites, so they are more frequent, and we kept the Gas Rat in the way of Grenadiers.

Plus now we can have stacked teams, so you could in fact go up with a team of only melee (Notably when WP was showcased I knew that a Melee only Sienna would never happened, idea which I was the only one warm to)

Penance Cosmetic have a good chances of being dropped alongside, but for weapon I think it’ll come on a subsequent patch when they have the classes (And Xbox) locked down and working without too much bugs.

That I disagree, melee only classes are there for a reason, and that reason is lore and because we can do it while being cool and it working (Which is why a ranged only wouldn’t have worked)

Now for Charonites Ogryn the only think will be featured will be cosmetics inspired by them.

As we've seen arts with the backpack

As for the weapons I think their ideas can work, but would need to be adapted (and vetted/accepted by GW) like the following mock-ups

Melee slots, either with Shield as the Miniature with the Grenadier Gauntlet or without as it currently is in DT

Nah. The existence of Waystalker and Huntsmen long made ammo redundant. Witch as well. Then you had that one perk that gave ammo back too.

the newest and dumbest example of that rn has to be CA and increaseing their DLC prices by 150% for no other reason than greed

+Shriknflation as the new Dlc has less than before compared to how TWW2 did

It can still be justified by the fact you have 3 teammembers. Yes, they can technically stack the same class with the same loadout even, but what are the odds? And we know Fatshark loves playing with odds.

Besides, an all melee team can still technically win. It’s different but doable.
With the right setup in items and skills you can just bumrush everything. Especially snipers can be countered with the 60% damage reduction. Same for gunners. If you ignore all the other perks and prioritize damage reduction, you can make yourself super tanky.

You can also kite the enemies. If you hide behind a corner, the specials will all home in on you, even snipers.

I’m personally waiting for the Slab Shield to be usable alongside the grenade launcher. I saw the Bullgryn miniature figure with a grenade gauntlet and a shield and since then I have been waiting for it. No clue why it didn’t make it into the game.

I agree, melee only classes fit into the game.
I will go one step further and say ranged only, too. It all depends on the implementation. But we already have guns in the game that can take on entire hordes and there’s even Blessings for it which we currently mostly don’t use, such as Terrifying Barrage.

Greed is not what I’d say. Inflation has hit companies just as it has hit us.

Costs of office spaces / rent have increased.
Costs of employment have increased.
Costs of hiring employment have increased.
Costs of marketing have increased.

What I do agree with: The price hike is EXCESSIVE. That’s the word I’d use. A 10%-20% hike would have been fine. 150% is brutal and I did NOT buy any of the new DLC because of it, even though I can afford it.

Most likely animating issues, the reload with the shield would be more difficult to animate.

Action wise it doesn’t cause much problem, just dropping the Exploding punch, and using that for the Shield block.

It fit the lore wise, and for VT2 it fit the mechanics, but for DT, neither full melee nor full ranged would service much.

Triple weapons instead would probably work (Either placing the “weapon” as either a Blitz or an ability)

You wait foe sales / use asian website to get a key at a lowered price…
But yes, excessives prices mean less customers.

Dude u playing the slayer all wrong.
His ult is the range mitigation he’s a angry little canonball of fury

Use your jump on a Blightstormer and I’ll revisit my statement.

But as thing stand. Darktide need more the ranged capacities than in Vt2

But you can stagger the Blightstormer with jump? Assuming he’s on a reachable spot. I know because I’ve done it all the time, they’re easy killings as slayer.

And how do you do when it’s very far ? Like how you can have Snipers here ? Or what do you do when you cmhave multiple Gunners in front of you and you have no ranged weapon ?

Ranged weapon with melee move set (Like the Grenadier Gauntlet) is more like what it should do

“And how do you do when it’s very far ?”
Well you get the perk that gives you speed bonus from ult. Then you get more speed from trinket. Maybe blue potion too.

“Like how you can have Snipers here”
What snipers? Vermintide 2 doesn’t have snipers. If you’re talking about being pinned down by gunner rat, then yeah, it’ll be tough.

Here

As in in Darktide

I engage snipers in melee all the time as Zealot. The secret is dodge-dance your way towards until you’re 20m or closer, then bumrush with the Zealot ulti which makes you invincible during the dash. Then you whack the sniper over the head once and they’re dead.

I can only think of a few circumstance where this is not possible, one of them being the case where snipers are using a ledge or empty space as cover.
