Rpg style revamp for this game in october, is this real?

The only logic answer is that they aimed at potential new players that are not fans of Tide games.

But crafting is part of gameplay, hence it’ll never be great until it is addressed.

Give me Tempestus scion and equilvant like Karskin/stormtrooper with Hotshot Lasgun and Hotshot Marksman Rifle. special activation/ult is like the crank gun engi but with Hotshotvolly Gun

too note.
storm troopers are for people who haven’t selected the Schola Porgenium background
Karskin are for those who have selected Cadia
Tempestus scion for those who have selected Schola progenium

Might be what the unknown Vet tree is/will be

makes sense to me , doesnt it to you? your the PR department for a company thats releasing a big new feature and you want to get it out there to get some players that have drifted away aware of it so they can come back and try it out. where do you announce it?

the base level of outrage on this forum just amps everything up, maybe they should of announced it here to, but its not like we were banned from finding out, it wasn’t hidden from us, we have all read the article

Our whole complaint here is there was maybe an hour or two where there wasnt a direct link and personal message alerting me to a feature thats over a month away! bit of a nothing burger just imo.

This isnt aimed at you Rainman just the thread in general but what is some PR guy who didnt realise there was a ball to fumble made what is (if were thinking about it) a sensible move and it turns into the devs are evil with a purely corrupting system and they are choosing to release it elsewhere to evade scrutiny. its turned into a neurosis one upping competition around here as people try and take more and more offence over less and less.

There is the Gamescom soon, they might be featured there (As apparently the Sharks are migrating to Köln)

I guess it all depends on what kind of interesting builds you can come up with in that skill tree. If there’s some serious fun to be had, I think it might have staying power. Otherwise, yeah, locks need to go.

AND if those builds are not gated by locks in the skill tree.

You can change your build as you currently can with the talents (Confirmed by testers)

Doesn’t matter how much staying power the trees have, locks need to go regardless.

Good.
Wouldn‘t make any sense to be otherwise.
Considering that loadouts exist.

We will be releasing a variety of comms and media leading up to the patch, this interview was just a first look!

Firstly, to even witness new content being announced in DT is refreshing. I appreciate it, certainly. And I understand how the above screenshots can lead to hype.

But.

Let’s not go there again. For the benefit of both FS and whatever’s left of the playerbase.
After speaking with several community members who were invited to participate in a closed test involving these new features of the game, I’m left with the impression that it’ll be a solid platform for builds.

Now let’s temper this with just a bit of experience, and only experience derived from DT. No previous titles, no other games, no other studios:

The content is coming out somewhere in later october. Maybe. Let it launch. I want to be optimistic and hang on the fact that it’s announced, so it must be near ready. But we (hopefully) know better.

Once it’s out, and applying the previous track record of FS launching anything, let’s observe how it interacts with the already present systems. I expect some of the new nodes to either not work, have false tooltips or simply to interact in strange ways. This will have consequences similar to Blessings and Feats being changed, but in a large quantity all at once. The potential for disappointment is great.

I then expect some nodes to quickly come ahead of the rest. Not even META-related minmaxing, but simply due to the natural development of playstyles. There will be an almost immediate counter-movement requesting buffs/nerfs and balance.

And this last tidbit is where I suppose it’ll very quickly arrive at, and hang at for a long long time. Balance.

To summarize, have you not become at least a bit weary of hype and announcements? Are you not retained?! ( )

Let’s see what FS deliver. How they deliver it. And then deduce whether the game is “saved”, “dead”, still “dying” etc

Will there be Class Spotlights like the original fours ?

Just to clarify, the point you’re getting at in the first diagram would be that major nodes (not incl. active abilities) could be mutually exclusive, and you would have to navigate around to descend that subtree?

It’d be good to see as few mutually exclusive choices as possible (other than active abilities/passives that improve a specific active ability). If you’re choosing to spread out, you’re already giving up whatever good stuff is at the bottom of the skill tree, so preventing you from having 2 of the mid-tier major nodes would suck

After each major Node you have a common node

I doubt so, sounds too overcomplicated and you will have duplicated feats on your tree active and not in the end. They also need to change basic archetype stats i guess. For example vet sharpshooter has 200 toughness and take increased toughness damage while sprint that kinda make sense for sniper-antishooter-whatever class, but will not be so for squad leader, guess vet will start with 100 toughness then can take more via this nodes. However could be anything, maybe even placholders for feats with icons not ready yet.

It does have a few different technicalities, though.
Clearly you will be able to mix and match.
Think Mercenary Warcry Kruber, but you got the dash ult from the Footknight.

I think it will be technically and conceptually superior, as long as the different choices are meaningfully implemented AND interact with one another enough, so that picking stuff from several “talent tree disciplines” supplement each other.

Well, from what I understand you can mix and match different stuff from different trees, but what I was getting at is that it would be great to have additionally the choice for several options in the same row. For instance, 2nd row, all the big blue circled passive abilities - I fear, we’ll only be able to choose one “big” ability at a time and the passives before it.

Absolutely! However, everything that has been said, has been said. Multiple times. By multiple people. All arriving at the same conclusions when critiquing this game, albeit in different manners. Personally, I’m tired of wasting everyone’s time writing up ridiculously inane mental sludge that is my ‘feedback’ which has a 50% chance to give random passerbys a aneurysm upon reading.

All to do now is sit on sideline and watch for any new updates that might interest me and get excited. A fleshed out skill tree is something I’d like.

This is what they teased about long before Darktides release. It just wasn’t finished so they cut/copied VT2 style for launch. Everyone thought they scrapped it, including myself. I am happy to see they did’nt. Build variety never hurts!
