Oh right, lol. I don’t know how I read that comment wrong, but yeah that makes sense. Been a couple of times I started a QP and joined random games as non-host. The latency always kills me.
It would be nice if the community could host dedicated servers.
the mutant your squad tells you not to worry about vs you:
In my own experience most issues happen every day during high traffic hours (NA east servers). Noreg and other nonsense has been happening to me pretty consistently since release.
Sounds to me like server overload / bandwidth issues, rather than maintenance. It’s under high stress, so it drops some of the packets (aka command prompts such as your input). Sounds reasonable enough.
No clue who Fatshark has hired for the servers or where they are all located, but I know that good server architecture and service providers can be costly.
As with all corporate contracts, even if they wanted to switch or noticed the issue being too severe, they’ll prolly be locked into contractual obligations for a while. It’s how business works.
that the three people conencted to you have double whatever problems your skipping by hosting
so long as these are private lobbies that would be a nice addition, but really dont want to go back to the hellscape of hosted lobbies on matchmaking
It seems like it’s a mix of many things, including the extra minions spawned from Auric and Maelstrom missions among others.
It is something we are keenly aware of and we are working on a long term plan to tackle the performance and server issues which we will roll out bit by bit!
Thank you for responding! You telling us that your team is aware and looking into solutions does make me feel better about it. I think I can speak for all of us when I say, we appreciate it!
Quality shark.
First game since April:
Right in the finale. Reconnecting gave a session was aborted error.
Unimpressed. Uninstalled.
my friends and I who haven’t played in a couple months asked if we wanted to run a couple games, so we did. The hit reg was awful, we frequently had problems with quickswap and just hits not registering.
We played 2 missions and then had enough. Probably won’t play again until the October patch and hope things are improved by then.
I really hope a “long term” plan to fix the servers is not that long, considering frequent of a complaint this is.
I’ve had 3 aborted missions just today, pretty much as many as i’ve had these past 6 months
The hitreg and input drops have always been bad, but now at least i didn’t use to get disconnected, and everything got worse anyway
At this point it’s safe to say the game is simply broken and unplayable
Hm, are there any other players in this thread that are from Sweden?
I live in the southernmost part of Sweden and aside from occasionally experiencing ghost hits, which is especially noticeable when I play my revolver Veteran, I rarely notice latency issues.
There have been a handful of times over 800 hours where games have lagged for a second.
Heretics would start floating in the air or just constantly running while invulnerable, but that’s happened 5 times at most.
The reason I am wondering if anyone here is a Swede is because I do not have any connection issues, crashes, etc., so can it be a location-based issue?
Auric Maelstorm missions with a lot of “actors” definately have issues with performance and any large hordes coupled with a lot of specials.
yeah, it’s called “fatshark has some downright clownish code going on in the backend”. it’s why i never wanted to move to dedicated servers. i know they’d make something that looks like a hate crime for their server network code.
And yet my experience does not match yours at all. So perhaps it isn’t the game. Have you monitored the connection between your PC and the game server that you are on? That might highlight any issues.
This one got a chuckle out of me. Good one
Their code doesn’t seem so bad actually. I have seen some of it.
I’m pretty sure it’s just the high load of entities being checked for every second. Most games don’t have hundreds of different actors on the same screen at once.
I’ll add my voice to this thread… But the hit registration has really gotten atrocious. I don’t know what the solution to it is from a technical perspective, but when 60-80% don’t register in some games it totally ruins the entire experience.
If they don’t want client-side hosting, fine. But they need to fix the net code.
