Red Duplicates

I find no problem believing you, and the higher chances of getting jewellery compared to weapons is something I had always thought about (my post above was purely in jest).

I was not at all surprised that my first 3 reds were all jewellery including a dupe, for the reasons you quoted.

I can confirm 6 charms in a row as stated below. Completely dissapointing and missleading design. For myself I decided to make a break, since you cannot stick or maximize the career you like the most. And thats gamebreaking for me sorry Fatshark.

Continuing the discussion from Vermintide 2 - Patch 1.1.0.1 Content Update:

yea, it’s kinda to be expected. You have 3 slots for jewellery and only 2 slots for weapons. It’s just a bit annoying. Even for my secondary ranged weapons, I’ve got duplicates of the same bows lol. Again, I’m trying to see the bright side. Spec’ing some out for Chaos damage and crit, others with monster damage and crit.

Pm from Hedge to me on this exact issue:

ā€œI don’t know what the future plans are, it’s likely reds will be altered in some way to avoid dupes or similar* or have some re-roll behaviour* (* neither are confirmed just me shooting from my gut feeling, but it may be some time away)ā€

Ah that’s cool. My response would be:

I don’t know what my future plans are when it comes to vermintide 2 paid DLC. It’s likely I’ll drop the game for a while until it respects the players time, just me shooting from my gut feeling, but I may pick up DLC in a future steam sale at rock bottom pricing.

Could post something similar… got a Screenshot from a GeneralĀ“s Vault on my steam… a Red Sword and a Red Charm were in it… It is definately possible.^^

Ive got 515 hrs in this game and mostly play on legend and I have never once gotten 2 reds or 3 reds in 1 chest. How rare is it for this to happen getting 2 or 3 in 1 chest!?

Noone here will have those numbers for you. We have no idea how rare it is. especially since it also depends on what quality chest and from what difficulty.

Just did a little video about my lack of melee weapons and multitudes of ranged / accessory items. I main Slayer (the nose gives it away) and I’m at 374 hours. Lots of duplicates and it feels bad. Also have the ax and shield but forgot to mouse over it. Point being - Way too many charms and trinkets. Also in reference to the multiple reds in 1 box, I don’t have it on video but I’ve received 2 red charms out of a soldiers legend chest a few days ago.

I’ve probably had a string of good luck, but since the patch I’ve gotten more red weapons than jewelry. Shrug

But I’ll agree, red dupes need to be addressed. I’m still sitting on 6+ of each jewelry type, if not more.

These are both duplicates as well :sob:

I guess chest hoarding season 2.0 has been officially opened.

Can I trade my duplicate for other reds? Please solve this as it is very disappointing. I have stopped playing for a while as I very disheartend. I want one red on my main character and keep on getting duplicate necklaces, trinkets, and charms. Have a place where I can trade it in for another, problem solved.

Personally, literal duplicates aren’t something I wouldn’t mind that much (not that I have had much chance to mind, two red items here), as I like trying different builds for most weapons, and I’ll likely need 2-4 necklaces too in the end, but seeing some people complain about their fifth whatever weapon is a bit much. Yeah, the loot system still needs tweaking, even if actual drop rates (at least for different rarities) stay untouched.

I feel you bro, this is VERY annoying. The moment when you see a red out of a chest and its a duplicated again!
I have 2 red glaives, 0 Ranged, 4 Red Charms, 0 Necklace, 0 Trinket. I even salvaged one of the red charms and got 7 Orange dust and 20 Scraps

Currently sitting on 10 trinkets, 9 charms, 7 necklaces and about 25 or so weapons spread across the classes (with several duplicates). near 600 hours in the game, most spent on champ or legend.

Most of those weapons are weapons that I don’t even use, by the way.

So yeah…
Dupes are fine up to a point for trying out different builds like what has been said… But when would I ever need 10 trinkets for example? there’s just no way.
I would definitely prefer some system where it gives you one of each thing first (one of each weapon) and THEN you get duplicates. and maybe cap the accessories to idunno… 5 or so each.

This is system would still be problematic. What if you want 3 Rapiers with different stats for different careers and builds. You don’t use any other weapons, but really want 3 Rapiers. Ok, you’re guaranteed to get one, and then you’re back to endless grinding yet again.

Only crafting system can make lategame non-frustrating.

I do agree that a crafting system or some sort of exchange system in addition to that would be better.

In short:

  1. Weapon duplicates should be limited to illusions, 2-3 per weapon
  2. Accessories should work in the same way, 8-9 of each Necklace/Charm/Trinket
  3. Weapon drop rates compared to accessories should be doubled, 4/7 over the current 2/5
  4. Once all red items have been collected, there are no longer any restrictions
  5. To preserve the rarity and satisfaction of ownership that comes with red weapons, I’d like to see red drop rates reduced back to 1.0.8 levels. I know this is unlikely, and would upset many people, though

I’d like to see red item duplicates be limited to illusions. With 2-3 illusions per weapon (excepting some without any, such as Saltzpyre’s Volleybow and the Halberd), this should allow for limited duplicates while significantly reducing the frustration and dissatisfaction of getting them. A new red item not only means, at the very least, a different skin to show off, it also crosses one more red item off the list, making it more likely you’ll get the one you actually want next time.

Necklaces/Charms/Trinkets should be limited in the same way; players can only get one of each ā€œnamedā€ item, resulting in a maximum of 8-9. I currently use about 5 of both my red necklaces and trinkets, and all 7 of my red charms. I don’t think this is an unreasonable maximum.

I’d also like to see the drop rates on weapons be twice that of the accessories. While this isn’t a problem for me after multiple hundred hours in the game, it was very frustrating having an inventory full of perfect, orange accessories while having very few weapons/illusions, forcing me instead to craft them. There is a far wider variety of weapons than there are accessories, and yet only a 2/5 chance of receiving one. This inconvenience persisted into the end game with red weapons. While getting that 7th Red Charm was nice, I would likely get much more use out of another red weapon, even if it was one I did not particularly care for.

As a final note, I personally thought the drop rates in 1.0.8 were fine for red items (they definitely were not for hats). Playing a few hours a day on Legend, with a pretty decent success rate and mostly full book runs, I’d average a few reds per week, maybe 2-4. That’s generally 1 every 2 days, or 10-15 matches. This seemed like a reasonable pace of progression. Now I’m seeing 2-4 per DAY. An influx in play-time since the patch, plus the wealth of commendation chests and Emperors Vaults from Okri’s Challenge has obviously skewed this, but it’s still rare not to see at least one red at the end of the day.

This alone has completely cut out any frustration at getting duplicates, but it’s also cut most of the satisfaction of getting reds. They’re not particularly special anymore. This is doubled by the fact that they are also now given by Commendation Chests, meaning anyone can get them. Having reds will very soon no longer be the sign of a veteran player.

Now, I’m not about to look a gift horse in the mouth, especially since gameplay is the real endgame for me, and more reds means a wider variety of weapons to play with, but there is a certain satisfaction most people get from showing off their rare items. If you’d like to keep this sense of satisfaction, I’d suggest lowering the red drop rates back to 1.0.8 levels, but implementing the anti-duplicate and weapon loot priority suggestions from above.
