In short:
- Weapon duplicates should be limited to illusions, 2-3 per weapon
- Accessories should work in the same way, 8-9 of each Necklace/Charm/Trinket
- Weapon drop rates compared to accessories should be doubled, 4/7 over the current 2/5
- Once all red items have been collected, there are no longer any restrictions
- To preserve the rarity and satisfaction of ownership that comes with red weapons, Iād like to see red drop rates reduced back to 1.0.8 levels. I know this is unlikely, and would upset many people, though
Iād like to see red item duplicates be limited to illusions. With 2-3 illusions per weapon (excepting some without any, such as Saltzpyreās Volleybow and the Halberd), this should allow for limited duplicates while significantly reducing the frustration and dissatisfaction of getting them. A new red item not only means, at the very least, a different skin to show off, it also crosses one more red item off the list, making it more likely youāll get the one you actually want next time.
Necklaces/Charms/Trinkets should be limited in the same way; players can only get one of each ānamedā item, resulting in a maximum of 8-9. I currently use about 5 of both my red necklaces and trinkets, and all 7 of my red charms. I donāt think this is an unreasonable maximum.
Iād also like to see the drop rates on weapons be twice that of the accessories. While this isnāt a problem for me after multiple hundred hours in the game, it was very frustrating having an inventory full of perfect, orange accessories while having very few weapons/illusions, forcing me instead to craft them. There is a far wider variety of weapons than there are accessories, and yet only a 2/5 chance of receiving one. This inconvenience persisted into the end game with red weapons. While getting that 7th Red Charm was nice, I would likely get much more use out of another red weapon, even if it was one I did not particularly care for.
As a final note, I personally thought the drop rates in 1.0.8 were fine for red items (they definitely were not for hats). Playing a few hours a day on Legend, with a pretty decent success rate and mostly full book runs, Iād average a few reds per week, maybe 2-4. Thatās generally 1 every 2 days, or 10-15 matches. This seemed like a reasonable pace of progression. Now Iām seeing 2-4 per DAY. An influx in play-time since the patch, plus the wealth of commendation chests and Emperors Vaults from Okriās Challenge has obviously skewed this, but itās still rare not to see at least one red at the end of the day.
This alone has completely cut out any frustration at getting duplicates, but itās also cut most of the satisfaction of getting reds. Theyāre not particularly special anymore. This is doubled by the fact that they are also now given by Commendation Chests, meaning anyone can get them. Having reds will very soon no longer be the sign of a veteran player.
Now, Iām not about to look a gift horse in the mouth, especially since gameplay is the real endgame for me, and more reds means a wider variety of weapons to play with, but there is a certain satisfaction most people get from showing off their rare items. If youād like to keep this sense of satisfaction, Iād suggest lowering the red drop rates back to 1.0.8 levels, but implementing the anti-duplicate and weapon loot priority suggestions from above.
