That’s a problem in itself; people should be bothered, and not only that some go out of their way to placate the cheaty mod users and the authors, even kowtowing to them on occasion.
Some just can’t seem to grasp why you should be bothered, “I don’t mind if people cheat” is also why we can’t have nice things, they’re part of the problem and standing by the sidelines and not speaking up means you’re on the side of the cheaters as the status quo benefits them.
People using cheats are by definition the jerks here, and the ones making excuses for them aren’t far behind; I think the paradox of intolerance applies here.
Perhaps because I usually main as an Oggy, I don’t feel panic at teammates yellow ammo reserves. 90% of the time though, everyone seems to maintain an ammo collection synergy and whomever is lowest collects the ammo. There is enough ammo for this to work well IMO. Of course you sometimes get 1 troll vet scrote who gobbles up all ammo as soon as they see it regardless of need, but that’s fortunately quite rare.
And how does a wallhack differ from a (wallhacking) radar?
If I were looking to give myself the biggest advantage, (cheat) I’d certainly pick a radar over a wallhack as the radar gives me 360-degree coverage, I actually have to scan and look at mobs for a wallhack to be effective.
Add to that the ability to highly customize it and give me warning messages when I should be performing defensive actions and the wallhack looks tame by comparison.
My point being that people are a constant in this scenario, and will never change. So we must work around it and cannot simply lay blame on ‘people’ with no other action planned.
its one of those things where you take info and tools away so you can’t be toxic, but you also have to ask yourself how much toxicity it actually prevents
it does actually prevent me from seeing if a guy has 2 mags or literally 1 shot left which is a big difference. is that really worth it so one mentally ill guy can’t screech about someones ammo count? when chances are he’s gonna screech even without the exact info of how many shots he has left, or if someone’s mentally unwell/hysteric and screeching he’s gonna be picking literally anything to whinge about
Yeah that sounds bad and I personally wouldn’t allow any gameplay mods if it were up to me, but I am trying to think of ways to realistically heal the situation, seeing as FS will never stop gameplay mods and barely polices them. So I am trying to think of alternative fixes.
Indeed, but (please excuse the pun) should we be adding ammo to that dude’s unhinged rage when it’s not really required.
Realistically, how often do you or your teammates ever run out of ammo? I barely see that in all my DT hours. So does the dude picking up ammo with 1 or 2 clips left really need an Ammo Police microscope over his ammo pickup decision?
Sure. We’re just discussing, and other actions are being taken by people who think some mods are a problem. You’re lobbying for this preference toggle. And some folks who don’t approve of the new psyker mod are posting it here and reporting it on Nexus.
FS’s stance at the moment seems to be that it handles mods as people problems (although I’m fairly certain they’ve also reached out to at least a couple of modders directly…although maybe I dreamt that). I think that’s working pretty well because I haven’t noticed an uptick in obviously-modded jerks ruining my games. But I really have no clue if it is or isn’t working (either as a deterrent or an active moderation tool).
As I said, I support your proposal, but I could see why it might not be implemented.
#1 I’ll like any post I like even if its from people who don’t like me :(. I don’t need your permission, what self-importance. I will also continue to like your posts when you make good points.
#2 Not intending to engage angry little men anymore, that was my only mistake (although considering you said your opinion on my stance would get you banned, maybe I slipped up again, so much anger).
#3 As long as Fatshark saw that there are people like me who legit don’t care if others are using wall hacks then mission accomplished (hi L4D2). Threads are not private echo chambers, better bite that bullet before you get to the rest of the internet/outside world.
Edit: Also I highly supported an actual plausible and diplomatic solution for a MM priority system but I guess you skipped that part.
#4 Still not using mods but keep imagining Straw-Sno unable to function in Malice without mod support I guess. Doesn’t cost me anything.
true but i also dont see it hurting and only potentially helping. there HAVE been situations where the team ran dry. the guy screeching is gonan screech about something anyway
i think it’s totally unrelated to peoples behavior. it’s like the cognitive dissonance between how scoreboards supposedly turned people into toxic rushers then doing a 180 and complaining about the zealot rushers. clearly green circles did not cause this behavior because darktide had none but it did have zealot knife rushers from the very start
people kinda work like this, they get asshurt and THEN they look for something to make the reason of their whinge freakout. if its not an ammo count then the scapegoat is that they heard the “why did you take my ammo” voice line
Your stance seems a bit binary though. As if things are either 100% to blame or 0% to blame, when in these scenarios they can contribute to, or inflame toxicities and if enough add up then it helps reach boiling point a lot quicker.
That’s just me playing devil’s advocate though on a comment about the ammo mod above.
My stance remains the same on all gameplay mods - that I would prefer the satisfaction of knowing I defeated the challenge of the game without any mods in the mix, my teammates included. Unfortunately there is no way for me to do that, which doesn’t seem wholly fair.
no i mean more that people either are antisocial losers who do antisocial stuff or they’re not. its a very inherent thing to a person in my experience. some people are always like it, some do it when they start losing, when they mess up, etc. anything they choose to blame for it is just excuses
maybe thats harsh but i played dota long enough to be a psychologist of angry little nerds
I don’t like certain Mods either but if they do it like in Vermintide via Sanctioning or splitting it between official and modded Realm it would kinda suck for Players like me from Germany because you have to use the Uncensor Mod and i doubt they would sanction that and the Playerbase of DT is already really low, unless you play on peak times it is hard to find a Match sometimes even on EU….like before the last Update the Playercount even went all the way down to just 2k-3k Players; now imagine them splitting that Playerbase.
