Rant About Mods

But I thought “Everyone should be on the same page in a multiplayer environment.”…

We discuss mods that impact balance, this mod at worst ruins immersion for some players who play the game to enjoy the dialogues.

That being said, people who spam power capsule all game long, breaking how dialogues play, should definitely move over to modded realm, if it ever happens.

Nobody considers these minimal HUD mods when talking how “mods are evil”.

Nowhere in this argument is anyone suggesting fatshark doesn’t fix their bugs. That’s a different issue and a bit of a red herring here. All games have bugs so it’s a bit of a weak argument for mods imo.

I play totally unmodded and whilst some bugs can be very annoying, I’d still rather experience them if I knew everyone else did too. I still mange h40 games without them and I’m not the best at the game.

As there will always be bugs in all games you can just use it as an excuse as you’ll know a game will never be bug free.

At least a tag or asterisks next to modders names so that we can naturally filter ourselves within the game if we choose to.

There is currently no way for non modders to avoid modders and that seems very unfair imo.

Yes. I want to know how many health enemy have. Because there is no visuals to wounded enemy.

There are too many of them right now. And don’t fool me into thinking that it doesn’t play a role in all the technical problems we’re having.

Especially crushers. My god how many elites on the havoc levels right now

3 weeks passed and im still using thammer zealot because he can oneshot that rotten armour crushers

Considerably selfish way to think about this

Of course, but there’s a difference between something that got added and will be fixed soon (Example being Plasma Gunners having audio desynced after firerate nerf, which got fixed in 1-2 weeks) and something that has been an issue since FOREVER (audios not playing due to the engine not being able to handle all the spawns there are)

It’s up to Fatshark really to set up when Sanctioning mods should be introduced, but with the amount of issues this game has and need to be fixed, I don’t see that happening soon

I don’t think it’s a good idea, splitting people into groups will just give them ammo for toxicity towards the other group.

There’s a lot of “minimal hud” mods that affect balance even if they don’t exactly show you new info (example Custom HUD, Crosshair Hud, Better Buff Management)

How is it selfish? It’s selfish for things to be fair for everyone? We ride together or we die together, it’s a co-op game. Please exlain how it’s selfish.

Everyone gets to experince these bugs, it’s not something that affects only certain people. If some people can’t play the game, because smoke tanks their framerate to the point of unplayability, sure, go ahead and mod it out.

But for some reason I see this mod the most in content creator videos who have top streaming PCs, so it’s not poor low-end PC players that use it the most.

You said it yourself

Some people NEED to use optimization mods that yes, as a side effect will give an (sometimes) unwanted advantage

Yet somehow, people should be forced to have bad FPS just so that they “ride or die together”

That’s a bit of a stretch.

The point is, one gives a hell lot of advantage. The others, not so much.

Custom HUD lets me place ultimate icon in the middle of the screen that lets me track the ultimate better. Healthbar, Special Tracker, some of visual enhancing mods are a couple of changes away from being something akin to a wallhack.

Bad FPS to some people is not having perfect 120 FPS at all times, and thus justifying installing these mods, despite the fact that this game will still have drops, because it’s just not optimized that much.

Others play the game in 30, and at least you can make a case for them.

I do agree with you, I’m just trying to point out as well there’s not exactly a good way to determine what’s “enough advantage”, and also “what should be suffered even if not intentional”

It’s also not fair to comment stuff like “Everyone should be on the same train” in previous comments, and then state what you said right here (“It’s not THAT big of an advantage!”), it’s a big contradiction

I’m fine with them banning mods and implementing these small hud mods as part of the vanilla experience / make a sanctioning system like they did in VT2, but understand that advantage is advantage, regardless of how much it is

I’m not exactly sure what are you trying to communicate here

”Players who want to win a huge advantage will use mods to do so” yes that’s literally how a non-restricted modded game works, but it also gives the opportunity for players who couldn’t play the game otherwise to play it

Is the ratio probably 90% cheater 10% actually needing it real? probably yes, still, if you just pulled the plug out now, you really screw over that 10% hard

The best solution will always be adding these needed mod features into the vanilla experience (or workshop sanctioning whatever, same thing), and only then it’ll be justifiable to do so

Game should be running at 120 FPS with a 3060, it’s stupid that it doesn’t lol. VT2 does it fine, same engine and all

Game shouldn’t have this many particles and screen effects, it really screws over gameplay readability. Once again, VT2 does it fine, and thus people didn’t even need to mod this (Only needed during beastmen release lul)

If mods allows me to have the experience this game SHOULD grant me, I see it as selfish when people want to take that away

This is exactly the definition of selfish. Sorry. And so we can do whatever we want because it “should” be that way.

Ideally only sanctioned mods would be allowed in normal realm, that’s the way it should be. Just like in VT2

The game not playing any sounds when Trapper/Dog spawns because of the Engine struggling is stupid, and saying “Well, the other 3 players are suffering too so you must also suffer with them instead of downloading a mod that reproduces an extra sound for it” is also selfish

Trappers that throw nets through beast of nurgle/bunch of crushers is also “normal” and not ruining “immersion experience”

No problem you can install a mod so it tell you when dodge so FS can add two more trappers because the win rate is fine. This is endless. If you read the last big update note you can see they balance with win rate that’s why the Arby got nerfed a lil.

And then we have endless smite stun without any mods.

Clearly the mods is the winrate problem.

They just listened to all the comments that said psykers would be better off killing enemies rather than stupidly blocking them. And they take the easy way out and overcorrect.
