Just curious, how Markers AIO is considered cheat?
I don’t really play with mods anymore b/c it’s just annoying with how many hotfixes are rolled out, but imagine your poow wittle ego being huwt cause someone else is playing a video game with aids that make it more fun for them.
This isn’t PvP or ranked ffs. Let it go.
Edit: I play L4D2 with mods that turn special zombies into My Little Pony characters. This changes their model around so they are easily spotted and killed. It would be a cheat in this discussion even though no one would ever complain/know in-game and it brings me immense satifsaction, so this is where my mind is at.
You can make it show you all boxes and loot at pretty good range through walls. It’s knowledge you wouldn’t have otherwise and can guide your pathing and get you stims/ammo/nades a teammate may have picked up if they’d known about it.
A condom can prevent that
I’m going to be honest with you and I mean no offense, but this doesn’t mean anything, maybe something was lost in translation again?
All evidence points (and pointed) to the contrary, including many forum regulars and our very our own sockepuppeting streamer extraordinaire “world first!111” and company.
Not only do they use unashamedly use the cheaty crutches, but they vehemently defend then and rally their simps to do the same.
Wanna make $ on Nexus? Author cheat mods!
My best guess is they’re trying to say people violate the “spirit” of modding for QoL by making and using cheat mods?
I’m told they and Hedge are having a blast there, tons of room to run and run…
So turning screen to dumpster on wish.
Even if I use it have lowest range and try prevent resorces from wasting(moastly medipacks).
Not sure I follow or if you’re trying to defend your use of it.
I’m not judging, just explained how it can be considered a cheat.
Pretty simple: mods aren’t the problem. Someone using whatever mods they want in their own games doesn’t affect anyone else and nullifies any complaints about mods other than “it’s not what the developer intended” (which doesn’t hold much water for me because mods are allowed), and mods aren’t a problem when 4 friends use them alone.
The problem is people using mods and abusing mechanics in a way that negatively impacts the games of others. Yelling vacuum capsule every second or using a wall hack doesn’t have any negative impact on their own. It’s doing that stuff to the other people who don’t want that done in their games that’s the issue.
If its look like that, then I dont mean it.
Edit: sorry this was meant to be a reply to you @anon73549677 but the post janked out for some reason.
But they are affecting the gameplay which indirectly affects the other players experiences.
Obviously it can occur to vastly varying degrees but it certainly will have an effect.
What if the 3 teammates you play with have 100+ mods each? You sure that isn’t going to change the experience of the one unmodded player? I don’t believe it won’t have an affect.
As I’ve mentioned above, there is a lot of forum moaning about the game being too easy…but how many of those complaints are coming from people using gameplay mods?
This would be a fair compromise.
Mods only affect people who play with them or play with people who mod. As demonstrated (for the umpteenth time) in this thread, the definition of “cheats” is grey, and there’s really no reason I’ve seen presented that would make modding your own private matches (with friends) problematic.
The problems crop up when people detect strangers using mods they think are cheapening their experience.
And people complaining about difficulty while over-optimizing with mods is another people problem and not an issue with the mods themselves.
Poppycock, it was not demonstrated at all and by YOUR own admissions definitions in the past there are cheats.
Hel, you even called out one of my tiny little mods as a cheat and even hilariously jumped on the bandwagon when I had the wrong screenshot on LessAnnoyingFx that showed the smite FX being removed (it wasn’t), you weren’t/aren’t being disingenuous, were/are you? YOU yourself said even the force blocking removing FX was a cheat.
Oh and totally unrelated, I may or may not have been purposely uploading wrong screenshots of my little mods, for no particular reason
.
Every now and then I have to unhide posts for comedic purposes, doublethink is a helluva drug.
Sorry about the wrong screenshot you had up there. And the reason that mod was brought up, which I’m sure you recall, was to make the point that it could be considered cheating because it removes things from the game added by designers that, when removed, make the game easier to play. I think it’s as valid a position as feeling KeepSwinging (or whatever the new one is) is cheating.
For the record, I don’t care about either. I don’t use either. I don’t care if other people use either (or Spidey Sense or literally anything else other than crap that ruins my experience…which is almost entirely stuff like Vacuum Capsule).
Anyway, to bring in back to the point: the issue isn’t that the mods exist. The (in-game) issues are that: 1) some people don’t want you using them in their games and 2) some people do abuse mods to the detriment of others.
As has been the case for 2.5 years, the solution is to report problematic players.
Horsesh!te, the reason it was brought up and you jumped on the badwagon (pun) was because you decided to simp for the cheaters and the other simps who were making a false equivalency and you well know it, don’t try to backpedal now and revise history after the fact trying to appear all reasonable; enlightened centrist much?.
And if you recall I actually agree with you on removing things to make things easier is a cheat, which is why I painstakingly look for alternatives if available that are actually not accessibility issues, having suffered a near-catastrophic photosensivity issue myself from only this game in 3 decades.
FIFY, this about sums it up? I’ll give you credit where it’s due, you at least pointed out (after MUCH coaxing and all your buddies left or were silent) on how a blanket removal of certain visual elements can be considered a cheat whereas your cohorts who clearly use everything from VFX removal to full fledged radar ESPs diverge from you, and yet you curiously choose to share a bed with them; lie down with dogs you’re gonna get fleas.
If you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem on topics like these.
I don’t know who you think I’m affiliated with in the fantasy world you live in, where modders are making bank on Darktide Nexus and there’s a clear consensus on cheating even though this thread started with a complaint about (what I assume is) Spawn Feed (a mod many would not consider cheating) and the first two comments clearly stated that cheating/cheat mods subjective. And I’m not really interested in litigating your memory of our month/years-old conversation. I’m telling you want I meant (and I’m 99% sure I articulated clearly at the time), and anyone can dig those up if they think it’s worth it.
Oh well if they stated it, it must be true.
That’s the thing, their subjectivity is a lie based on their desire to cheat in the first place.
It’s not MY memory, it’s THE memory, muddying things with “well it’s all subjective” is illogical nonsense and accompanied with rhetorical ploys you’ll often see politicians use to sway the ill-informed voters.
I’m really not interested in litigating objective reality vs some of yall’s perceived reality.
Yes, they can indeed dig them up, we know nobody will, hence your attempted whitewashing…
