Yeah, I feel that Veteran needs a buff and less grey nodes in the talents tree soon.
i think todayâs veteran is way stronger than old vet (without pinning fire), even on the ranged deparment
plasma gun and bolter were doing fkall compared to what they do now in terms of damage, with the last talent tree rework i can oneshot havoc dreg gunners with my bolter with half the damage talents vet players take, you wouldnât even get close to that before, even in regular games
thing is old vet was 100 times more fun to play, todayâs vet got reduced to a dysfunctional minigame/rng based class with no love in it
Being honest, play Veteran used to feel miserable in terms of build-making since he was the only character with 19 grey nodes (two of them with â0.25s stamina regenaration delay reductionâ, three with â+5% melee damageâ, etc) before the last rework, and needs another change because still dysfunctional compared to other classes.
âCreativeâ class that combined ranged damage output of Gunker, utility of old Vet and mobility of Zealot.
Yeah the whole ganger release is a mess, if you like playing the dueling knives to RP some vermintide knock off, or using infinite ammo to stand there RPâing a machine gun turret from Hell divers, its a good patch, but obviously the hyper-majority of players are already over this whole ganger fiasco. But based on the fact that they are still moving nodes around the tree to exacerbate the abandonment of the glass cannon concept we were all sold, is solid indication that we are going to have to deal with this whole ganger foolishness for a long time to come. Who knows maybe, just maybe, at some point in the future they will start focusing on releasing content aimed at the market avatar of their customer base, either that or the game will continue to circle the drain for a while longer.
Like breaking my window and selling me glass, yeah. Itâs also lazy.
And hereâs the problems (as if any more were needed), none of it is happening in a vacuum. Our gripes are not isolated incidents. And this is starting to rear its head at a time when everyone is tight on cash, and consumer trust and audience good will are at all time lows.
These are the kind of circumstances when people say âthis is final strawâ and mean it. FatShark ignores these things to their detriment.
all of the scums ranged ability is focused on short range kills , they dont have plasma or bolter the only accurate ranged options are vigilants or the stubs special.
the vet has the advantage in a lot of areas. they do quite different things in extremely differing ways.
im making no comment on balance
Honestly, this whole âsituationâ seems largely a rather embarrassing issue concerning the community.
Firstly, people hyped themselves up into thinking it would be AdMech. I can get that, I look forward to that, too. Hive Scum was not what I would have asked for - neither was Arbites, but then I loved Arbites. But people ran with that, and would not let it go.
This is a game, and it came out with some new content that provides some new ways to play the game. Are they are super deep and amazing? No. But itâs frankly fitting, since I canât imagine Hive Scum being exactly subtle and nuanced in their approaches.
We probably only got this archetype because of the small but steady stream of people coming here not wanting DT to be the unique game it is but a generic shooter and demanding everything fit what they want. They gave you what you wanted, and now people want everything else still changed to fit that? You guys need to chill out.
Yeah, the class is far from perfect, the glitches and bugs are embarrassing - should be embarrassing for any coder involved. But they gave what was asked for, and even if you barely touch the class in the future - if you occasionally get the desire to run it and shoot everything, then it has succeeded.
No offense, but you dumb the issue down. They removed stronger Survavilist from Vet and reduced their ranged damage in the past under the pretense of balance, only to reintroduce all these things in the better form as the new class (along with another âbetter Exe Stance type of ability, which Psyker and Arbites already had with Executionerâs Order and Disrupt Destiny which have more sizable buffs attached to themâ). Thatâs the issue people are having.
Nobody here asked for that. Nobody said âwe want a better shot than Vet at short to mid distances, and we want removed Vet features to reintroduced elsewhereâ.
This is by far my biggest issue with their design and I shat a brick when they said the game did not have an aggressive melee-range shooting playstyle yet. Just up and forgot they had autopistols and braced autoguns in the game, playstyle nerfed and forgotten.
Imagine, for an example, if they nerfed and removed BLO rumbler gameplay from Darktide. Not entirely unfounded. Itâs actually probably not good for the game. Itâs probably a bit OP. It might deserve a nerf. Iâm not here to argue either way, just setting up the hypothetical.
People would be mad, but it would generally be accepted that this is a balance decision they made (just like when exec stance had all the autogun-run-up-to-shooters stuff removed). It would not be indefensible if they did this.
Now imagine the next class introducing rumbler BLO gameplay, 1:1, or even better, as a core gameplay feature. Would you feel messed with? Would you think âokay but if it was too OP why can it come back on a premium class?â
This is how I feel having liked old vet a lot, even though I acknowledge it was OP.
This is the Cyberpunk 2077 launch fiasco rethoric.
âItâs the players fault for having expectationsâ
No, we didnât hype ourselves up. We were just hoping it would be anything but Ganger.
Callin BS on that, everyone was gaslighting themselves into thinking it would be AdMech. I was here for the whole thing.
honestly I had the same deflated expectations from the cop, difference being I didnât shove my hate in everyoneâs face over it. I actually did buy it, more because I held them to making the all class cosmetics avaliable on them again and they did. there was no need to do anything more than post that I wasnât going to buy it without that flag being flipped back.
I said that I was not going to buy Hive Scum.
And I really didnât want to buy it.
But why I bought it?
Because I wanted Rocket Launcher and dual pistols.
Is logic for the Veteran to have it?
People says âno, because you have Krak grenadesâ.
Ok, then let me choose between Krak or Rocket launcher.
Dual pistols should be added to Vet in my opinion.
I will just make my Scum builds, as soldiers.
The name of my Scum is âPenal-Legion-VIIâ. (In forced service of Arbites, not Gangsters).
Thatâs not true, currently Hive Scum have Vigilant Autogun, Infantry Autogun, Stub Pistols, Stub Revolver, Bolt Pistol and the brand new Needle Pistol, one of the most accurate range options for long shots, even more than Plasma iself.
Therefore, Hive Scum have many good options for this area, and your statement is wrong.
i would take dual shivs for zealot and dual stubs for vet as new weapons instead of this class, but fatshark knew very well what they were doing by locking dual wielding behind a paywall.
Read my post history and be proven wrong. I called Ganger from the start because it was lowest hanging fruit. I was hoping to be proven wrong.
So your BS calling is BS.
Youâre doing exactly what Iâm saying. Blaming players for expecting too much from Fatshark.
That was not the general community viewpoint, though. My point stands; youâre just an outlier.
BTWâŚ
I understand, if someone thinks I am hypocrite, but:
- I still think Hive Scum was not a good idea as class (not now. at least).
- I really wanted Rocket launcher since I started playing with Veteran.
- I still donât like to fabricate my own stims/drugs.
I hope you understand.
Thanks you.
20%?
Jeez. People lost their heads due to screaming fits about vets original value that was way less. Yet apparently its A-OK to have if you just pony up the price for the latest POS DLC.
I poke my nose back because a friend said the game got better. Now I have to go punch him for lying to my face. This isnât better - this is a scam. One that starts with nerfing âfreeâ class Aâs ability, wait a year or so, then put that ability amped up on class B that is part of a paid-DLC to squeeze more money from the same customers.
Nope. Wallet still closed, review stays âdo not buyâ, and not going to pad the âengagement metricsâ. Especially with a âcommunityâ that seems hell bent on actually defending this sort of behavior.
