I personally am sick and tired of leavers. One person goes down to a simple mistake, they instantly Alt F4 and we get a useless bot.
Perhaps it would be nice if the game paused at such moments. If the players want to continue right now, they press their buttons and the game goes on; if not, they wait for a new player to join as a substitute
Alternatively they could improve the bots and you’d be happy they left!
What difficulty are you playing on and which mode?
Pubs have a nice shuffle of players before the game settles into those who can finish. It’s just par for the course at this point.
Right, let’s punish people in game with zero stability.
I personally wants that when someone leaves, no bot come to replace him.
I am tired to wait to see that the circus of a bot that revives the teammate on floor…
Seriously?
That’s my biggest grief about the departures.
Because, I leave really often… When I see that I won’t be able to play, when I see that the guys want to rush, when I see that they play alone and don’t care of the team, when I see that a guy wants absolutely to follow me and try to kill things before I can just to kill me…
In all these situations, I click LEAVE TEAM.
Sometimes I resist to all stupid behaviors, until I fall. Then I leave… I have even did that at the final stage of missions…
Yeah, I’m sick of it as well and made a similar thread. It’s really bad the last weeks, someone staying after they die is the exception now.
I propose a 5 min penalty before you can join another game.
The leaver issue on Auric has been really bad for a long time now, around 2 years. I can’t really play Auric with randoms anymore without a revolving door of players, which either stabilizes eventually with a few players that don’t leave, or just becomes a game with bots once the game has gone off the mission board.
People almost always leave as soon as they’re downed. They know they can just dip and find another game to ruin, at the expense of the other players on their team. It’s pathetic and frustrating.
The reality is that this is the way a lot of people play this game - going down means you quit and find another game. Why would I ever wait to be rescued by my team if it is an inconvenience for me? People that play the game this way are actively harmful to the game and community at large.
Not my experience at all. I see people mostly leave games when the team is obviously weak and they have 0 reasons to stick around, as the chances of them being rescued are slim and / or playing with that team is a torture. People don’t live good teams. If you are constantly end up on such teams - well, time to look at how you play. Reduce the difficulty too, if you can’t handle Auric with a team of 3 in a pinch, until substitute player joins - you are not suited for its difficulty, in the first place.
This is such a dismissive and disingenuous argument, and one that I see made in various ways on this forum by people that have no good argument left to make or that want to brag about their skill to strangers. Essentially blaming any issue that someone is talking about on them. It’s so easy to dismiss anything as a skill issue, isn’t it? Now even other people leaving games is a skill issue! You might as well call it a skill issue when my game crashes too.
The truth is that you have absolutely no idea how good or bad I am at this game. And even if I absolutely suck, this is an issue that is experienced by most people that play auric randoms and has been brought up or commented on by tons of people on this forum at this point. Is it a skill issue for all of them too? If we were all as gifted as you, would none of us encounter leavers anymore? Get down off your high horse and spend a few minutes in reality.
It’s pretty rare for my games to end in failure, and I’m usually hard carrying when I play with randoms. I never said that my games are failing while I wait for people to join, or that I can’t clutch games in a pinch, that wasn’t my complaint. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t have an issue with people constantly leaving games as soon as they go down, or with playing with bots if the game has gone off the mission board. Fighting as a team is what makes this game fun for me and many others. Losing the team means losing most of the fun.
Most randoms in Auric are not particularly skilled or experienced, and they go down a lot. I think anyone that plays Auric and doesn’t play in premade teams can attest to this. That is just the nature of random players in almost any game. I play a support-based build, and I can prevent a lot of deaths, but I can’t prevent all of them. And when they go down, they leave. They’re not leaving because the team has no chance, at least the majority of times. They’re leaving because they don’t want to wait to be picked up, or they got frustrated and rage quit. Even if you were the best player in the world, you couldn’t prevent people from doing this.
If you really think that randoms leaving games in Auric is a skill issue and should be blamed on us, then you’re living in willful ignorance.
It’s not really an “argument”, honestly - just literally sharing my own experience here. In my Auric games I do not see people leaving, in a manner described using some other peoples’ words in this thread, “multiple times for the whole duration of the match until they are left alone and nobody joins anymore cause the mission is out of rotation already”. I can’t even remember when it was last time I had a session like that; surely, in my 2k hours playing the game I had a few of such, but they are so extremely rare I can’t really even consider it a ranting topic, it’s just “mmm heh.. whatever, next match” kind of trivial, anecdotal situation.
In my typical Auric match I may see one, or may be two players leaving the match sometimes, soon substituted with another players - and that’s it. Definitely not a matter to establish a police state with a harsh system of penalties over. So naturally when I see claims like that one above, I either consider them a usual forum drama queening (aka “I had a bad match, and I’m too obsessed with the game to let it go, so I’ll go to forum and will blow it out of proportions, claiming LITERALLY every my match is like that”) - or that it’s actually true, but then I’m starting to wonder why I don’t have such issues in my games, and those people do; and it can’t be helped to note a pattern in all those incidents they had, which is them being present on all those teams.
And btw it doesn’t even mean you play “bad” or whatever, you may be a decent player, just a bad teammate, it’s very possible. Like, you don’t prioritize rescuing people, or don’t wait for those who were left behind, or may be you shoot poxbursters / barrels more often then you should; may be you also play a meta build many people hate, to boot. There are a lot of factors through which your presence on the team may affect other players’ will to stay in the match.
Then again, I have to note you’ve just said this:
It’s pretty rare for my games to end in failure
Ain’t that wonderful? Then why exactly we even discuss that matter here? Why do we need to establish a full new factor generating toxicity non-stop (some stupid rules that punish people for leaving, so they have to stay, but they clearly don’t want to stay and hate it here, so they’ll become disruptive and toxic etc), if everything seem to work just fine? You complete your missions, have your time in spotlight when clutching a match, etc? Some matches fail, but that’s fine, it’s the highest difficulty of the base game, so you shouldn’t expect winning all the time. If you want that, reduce difficulty one or two levels. Otherwise treat occasional bad teammates like an extra difficulty modifier and push forward. What am I missing, exactly? That’s what I do myself, works just fine.
Fair enough. That’s good that it doesn’t happen much to you. But it does happen frequently to a lot of other people. There have been many posting about it over the last few years.
Now this is highly conditional. If back-fill was quick and reliable, this would feel like much less of a problem. But in my experience, it is not so. When someone leaves, there is a pretty good chance that spot won’t fill again. 100% chance it won’t fill if it’s off the mission board when the person leaves, which doesn’t take very long.
The purpose of my previous post was basically to highlight how presumptuous and dismissive it is to blame the leaver issue on people that don’t leave games. Darktide is far from the only game in which people leave when they die. It happened a lot in Vermintide 2. I’ve been playing a lot of Space Marine 2 lately, and it happens all the time there as well. It’s something a lot of people just do in video games. It isn’t caused by other players like me or anyone else posting about it. Don’t try to blame us.
There are a lot of people that have noticed and commented on this issue with leavers in Auric over the years. All of us are the problem?
I did say in my last post that I specifically play a support build. This kind of implies that I am concerned with teamplay and prioritize rescues. I can’t speak for others though, obviously.
Now this right here could be a legitimate reason for people to leave games, but not only after they get downed. That’s specifically what I’m talking about here. And I dislike meta builds too, by the way.
I and many others do not believe that everything is working just fine. Hence the reason why this topic is regularly brought up.
Winning or losing isn’t the only metric. It’s pretty reductive to just say that I should be happy as long as I win. I think most Darktide players would agree with me here. You can have a great time in a game you end up losing, or a miserable game that you win. Personally, I enjoy the teamplay, not just winning no matter what.
Who ever said I wanted to win all the time? I didn’t complain about losing games or about teammates being bad. I thought we were talking about leavers. I think you’ve changed the topic here. Is it just so you can smugly tell me that I should play on a lower difficulty?
This is such a bad idea.
