Could we please see an end to rotation of premium shop and just have all cosmetics always available. When you add more just add them in updates? I personally really like having lots of choice and not having to worry about it leaving. When I know it’s always there I can always get it when I can or want. Just a thought.
That is exactly why it is rotating. If you feel the fear of missing out on certain cosmetics you you might buy stuff you otherwise would’nt. It’s common practice in mobile games.
Furthermore if you had full choice you might handle your budget sensibly by only getting what you like most. If you only see few items at a time you might get something you like and later also get something you like even more.
Companies don’t want you to be happy. They want you to spend money.
There can’t be enough post about this issue, I haven’t seen anyone who thinks the rotation is a good idea.
Put everything in the shop already, what’s taking so long?
I understand the whole Fomo method (fear of missing out) to scare people into buying. Im quite the opposite though when I don’t know what around the corner I don’t want to spend my money I’m scared that there might be something else worth it then before I know it been watching the shop for months and haven’t bought a thing. This whole rotation thing makes me personally not want to purchase skins.
I was just meaning that personally fomo doesn’t encourage me to shop. I like looking at a huge variety when I go into the candy store.
I concur that the commissary shop is very lacking in INTERESTING skins quote interesting. All the commissary skins are more less the same but just different colours. It’s very underwhelming. What is the karkin deal with none of the guardsmen helmets having no visors!!!
That is because it is 100% detrimental to the players, as a predatory practice would be.
When the free shop has a better layout and ui than the premium lmao
Which is kinda why it will not be changed.
It’s not one of those things that we can just complain about and FS will see the complaints and go “oh yeah, why didn’t we think of that, lets fix it!”
It’s precisely because they thought of it and that is why they will not be changing it.
Changing how the shop works affects their bottom line. Companies do not change what affects their bottom line negatively.
The shop is as shitty, manipulative and costumer hostile because that’s what makes more money, according to research.
Direct purchases simply make less money than a rotating shop, driven by fomo and with highly inflated prices hidden behind a layer of “premium currency”.
Then there’s budles which offer a “vastly supperior” deal than buying the items individually but the bundle comes with a worse version than the hat you can buy seperately so you should get both!
And just like that you gave them 60$ for 3,5 skins.
If you saw the VT2 shop selling two bundles of premium skins worth 60$, you’d say that they are crazy.
But 10K+ ge… Ehm I mean, aquilas mean nothing to you anyways.
The shop is shitty for everyone tho
Whales included
Sure you’re always going to have your crowd that just will refuse to engage with the shop and they truely are the greatest of us all.
But fatshark are literally driving away sales with how awfully this store is run
The average consumer is just deterred by the insane pricing, slow rotation, low quality reskins and repeats they don’t want the first time and certainly don’t want again.
New and returning players who missed out of stuff in the shop may never see it again would be more than willing to purchase them if they could.
The whales aren’t being sufficiently milked because the store rotates too slowly especially for a whale that mains a class because they get one new thing to buy a month compared to other games that don’t have class restricted cosmetics that could have a dozen to buy a month.
And then you just have 40k fans that will instantly buy regimental gear and cosmetics of established things in the universe (that’s me Mordian iron guard and kasrkin when) that are barely being targeted.
Fat shark are entirely focusing on the regular player that at least logs in fortnightly and try to motivate them with the slowest store fomo imaginable (a month and a half until something new cycles out) but even do a horrible job of that with that with the repeats and reskins (I’ve seen only 1 person with the steel legion reskin in 20+ hours).
Fatshark have basically created the worse store imaginable for themselves and the consumer. It’s actually impressive.
If you guys want a better shop with better cosmetics, I made a suggestion thread for that:
Suggestion / Inspiration: Cosmetic Painting System + Hallowette implementation
Maybe we can get it noticed.
The shop at current definitely is an unsatisfying experience, even when you come with a mindset of wanting to buy. Most cosmetics simply mismatch, too. Even in bundles.
Absolutely - me too.
But I gotta say that the prohibitive pricing makes me spending less then I propably would.
I got two sets: the yellow steel legion and veteran death Korps. Equals roughly 25 euro. And I don’t see me spending much more anytime soon.
If a set was 5€ and single pieces 2€ I‘d propably have bought additionally commissar, the other three death Korps sets, the steel legion recouler, the new steel legion helmet, the two cooler dkok helmets, the death Korps laspistol and duelling sword and the bulgryn armor.
In total 8 sets and 5 single pieces. Totaling 50€. That’s actually double income for FS without a single minute more work.
It’s SoC all over again.
You’d think that the fairer, directly purchaseable premium skins in VT2 would sell better since the pain-point of each skin is so much lower than in DT.
I didn’t spend a single cent on DT while I bought more than half of the premium skins in VT2. Almost one per career (12/16 probably) and in some cases (handmaiden) I even got both.
They made so much more money from me in VT2 than they ever will in DT.
Just to clarify, I’m a much bigger WH Fantasy fan than a 40K fan so I wanna say that the trend could’ve been reversed if I liked 40K more.
Then again, I don’t like being manipulated and still wouldn’t have bought any DT skins because of the model.
But if you fall for the premium currency layer and you like 40K more than me, they probably got 25, 50, 100+ $ out of you by now.
And just because these maipulative schemes are not illegal (yet) doesn’t mean you should go for them.
Short term profit > reputation. In their eyes.
But I won’t forget what they pulled in DTs shop.
Once the next game rolls around and it’s revealed again that it will have premium currency, I don’t care what the game is, I will not buy it and tell everyone thinking about it not to do so as well, if they can help it.
Yet you spent. You already fed the shop and its reason to exist.
Not to mention that having already used it you are statistically more likely to use it again.
Absolutely - I have no problem with the existence of a premium cosmetics shop that doesn’t offer gameplay advantages. I have a problem with the absurd prices and with the psychologic tricks they try to play on me. SLoA and DKoK are my two favourite IG Regiments and I knew from the beginning I’d buy their uniforms.
I do. It’s the reason why games have become worse and worse.
Look at Baldur’s Gate 3 and remember we used to be able to have great games without having to pay them forever.
They don’t need continuos maintenance when they’re released finished and they don’t need to be forever fed money in order to continue to exist because there are games that have been online and functioning for decades now.
Once you stop giving them money for nothing you might find out that those outfits you like so much would have been free in the game.
That’s not entirely true for live service games. Servers cost money to run; And yes, they could just dump that burden over to users to run P2P, but they didn’t, so it does cost them money. Not making excuses for the quality of the cash shop, it’s abysmal. I’d expect this garbage from a F2P mobile game, but not a game I had to fork out a pretty substantial amount for.
See, “live service” is an empty term that means nothing.
Most games nowadays are made as live services because they’re easier to monetize, not because they need to be, and they’re easier to sell unfinished with the promise of making it better after release.
Mantaining a few official servers where the game runs costs nothing compared to the initial sales, and it should simply be incorporated in the costs of the game.
Even so, P2P might have been a burden in the 90s, nowadays everybody has enough bandwith to host a game without issues. It’s essentially the will to mantain an iron grip on the game that makes them not release a custom server solution.
Back in the day I had my own Left 4 Dead server. I paid for it and it was free for everybody when my friends and I were not using it, the amount it cost me renting from a 3rd party was huge compared to the amount it costs them, and it was 6€/month.
At the cost of an average monthly salary they can host at least a thousand server instances.
It’s their choice not to permit others to host it, though, and they should be paying the price for it.
I’d prefer they did something more like League of Legends. Lots of skins always available. Add some seasonal/event based limited skins and a rotating “sale” list. Basically, just make the “Featured” page into a sale bundle (full skin + weapons 40-75% off) for each class and put everything else up at full price.
They have all the costumes available at all time in vermintide 2 and on top of that they have bundles on sale too.
Some corpo gets a position where they act like they are expert on the topic of monetisation and they make it worse by just doing a worse version of everything else on the market.
