Post for those who find Mortis Trials fun

As opposed to threads from folk thinking another havoc mode was needed even though those players who chase increasing diffs got their mode… or those just jumping in quoting someone reputable on reddit and such to bolster their ego on a forum (lol), this is a thread for those ACTUALLY enjoying the Mortis update! Ragers need not respond here.

Personally, I’m having a laugh with it. Electric Ogryns are hilarious. To a seasoned vet, the challenges don’t peak high enough for 4 elites teaming, but as somebody who earned badges without any exploits or ever playing a meme build, and enjoy the story progression; the experimenting CW style with buffs and powers for crazy effect etc, I find this one of the more successful updates since Locked and Loaded. It’s only crashed 4 times for me haha. Considering the absolute mess havoc was for most of us on launch, in this update, they made Oggy fun as hell, they made a new mode feeling like town square from V1+2 and Shlushlessssslushyshosh. They put the safety trigger on Scrier’s to compensate for server lag and false triggers of OC… not bad.

Could mortis be better? Of course. Everything can. But I don’t think it warrants the insane raging of “oh this has ruined the game WAH!” that I’ve been reading. FFS it’s a playlist of Kyd’s quality treats over waves of comedy gold.
With this in mind, to those who actually like the mode, what would you like to see in its future?

Personally I wouldn’t mind them adding an auric diff section unlocked after say 10 trial completions, the same as the story mode. Perhaps even a custom setting where you can add the special conditions of auric/havoc in- asking Seph to stop performing for her Master/Sub OF for a bit to pile on the insanity! Obviously more theatres too.

We all really want the main story mode expanded (I hope). So now we have 2 kinda gimmick modes, who’s to say they have to be exactly the same or similar. We got Insane mode and Fun mode,…

I like it but it feels a bit undercooked. I got a hunch this is just prep work for chaos wastes 2.0. Aside from it being easy I’m hungry for more, that’s a good sign!

Well said. I love the new play!!!

I thought it was rather enjoyable personally, not everything has to be catered to the meta elite players

Pros:
Music - 10/10 as always!
Map design - great map design visually
Player buffs - interesting, definitely some meme worthy ones for lots of laughs
Periodic loot cashes between waves - no searching for loot caches, more team Coherency

Cons
Waves start out too empty even on Damnation
Small maps can get repetitive
Player buffs too strong for seasoned veterans

Suggested adjustments:

Increase enemy density on Heresy and Damnation with endless hordes of poxwalkers/groaners between the main Elite waves.

Increase enemy difficulty on Heresy and Damnation in final 5 waves by adding in randomized modifiers (with announcements on screen at beginning of wave).

These would be:
Power Supply Interruption, Ventilation Purge, Mutated Horrors and Ember should make appearances as these randomized wave modifiers.

Ambush modifiers should appear in later waves as well, these wouldn’t have an announcement at the beginning of the wave but would appear during objectives as a threat that requires immediate action.

These would be:
Heinous Ritual, Hunting Grounds, Bubonic Bursters.

Also include these permanent modifiers for the final 5 waves of Heresy and Damnation:

Encroaching Garden, Rampaging Enemies and Enraging Elites.

These three modifiers would consistently appear in Heresy and Damnation on the final 5 waves.

The close and consistent rescue location in addition to the boons from Sefoni would make these enemy modifiers less severe than they are in other modes and would offer players a gradual introduction to higher difficulty modifiers so they could grow accustomed to them in a friendlier environment before proceding to challenging modes like Havoc.

I’ve really enjoyed it and it’s what I want to play when I next load in. I’ve already got the ticket and most the penances.

Although the penance that requires you complete it with all 5 indulgences…there is one that I never seem to get offered. The voltiac one.

Are all 5 indulgences available no matter what archetype you play as?

I enjoyed them a lot but theyre far too easy esp on damnation since it spawns less enemies than lower threat levels

This guy gets it. Everything you said was on point. It’s truly a breath of fresh air here to see someone say something nice about released content. I wonder if they could make enemy spawns scale with total number of players and just remove bots?

Upping the hordes in Damnation would be welcome.
Like I said, an Auric addition, just a 2nd menu going off auric stats, would be nice. Getting conditions to allow for DHs, but even more so, perhaps some level mutators that would never work with havoc or the story mode. Things so loopy, they can only exist in Sef’s mind haha. I can’t say I know where they ARE gonna go with this mode, but I hope it keeps the experimental lunacy to it. I like playing with Sefoni hehe.

I hope to see more “indulgences” added, or just more boons to allow for it to get really nuts. I had the most fun last few matches with my son who’s just getting into it- both as Ogryns doing duos at malice/heresy level for him, making me insanely OP to hilarious degree. My knifey biggun went full LawnmOgryn on fire. We laughed our asses off together and he’s gonna join me again tomorrow, so they did enough right to entertain two generations xD

Yesterday I was playing this mode with 2 other Ogryns, one of them did the funny with rumbler or the nuke, and I’ve had like 5 FPS for the whole wave

It was actually the coolest thing ever

Melee build was not that much fun tho :pensive:
(I pretty much just farted sometimes and regenerated my hp)
Or it’s just because I didn’t see all the blessings and stuff

Way too sparsely populated early on and too easy, even for 2-mans.
I could see it being more silly fun for a bit now and then with some easy tweaks, but it’s just a roostertease for Chaos Wastes and that makes me sad.
Cool new maps but only two and they’re small, more and bigger is always better (I’m told).

Mortis Trial mode WANTS to be transformed into a proper CW so badly it’s creating another Chaos God of its own.
I wonder if all the resources then went into this and Havoc would have gotten us halfway to a proper CW.

It is extremely easy in a duo, but god it is really amusing

I dont think this would have cost that much hours in comparrison to havoc, their is no balance ( that is a good thing tbh for this mode) boons are the ones for cw so the most dev time would be the map itself and voices.

Played a game earlier today where we got over 3.5k kills total for the mortis trials carnival map and it was BLISS.

I was as happy as a pig in corpstarch.

I clutched a couple of times and was just in a sea of enemies. It’s exactly what I want from DT. A perfect condraditictive harmony of intensity and stress relief.

If they ramp up the enemies more as we’re all requesting, then I will literally live inside the mortis trials.

I tried it today and thought it was really fun, I played as ogryn and put the smack down, saved my little 'uns a few times, didn’t take much damage, there were a few instances where they put the pressure on the team and that was fun but if you hang in there it lightens back up the pacing is really nice, I was very pleasantly surprised

it did take like 40 minutes on damnation, an option for a quicker one with less rounds that maybe ramps up quicker would be awesome

maybe call it hell on tertium or something

Agree on all points. I know it’s good, i just think it’d be better if it had a sixth difficulty selector.

That’s actually a good idea.

If not Havoc modifiers, maybe at least random mutators from normal/auric missions? Like one wave you have Lights Out (gonna be fun in the Carnival map lol), next wave is Scab only/mostly melee, etc.
We already have mutants waves, burster waves, hound waves, sniper waves… so why not?

Irony at its finest

And yet you apparently agree with the people you just insulted.

It’s a great mode. Hoping they expand on it further with new maps and more memories from other members of the warband.

Wouldn’t be opposed to a 15-wave version as well.

I have played it 3 times now and I keep getting the same map
