Mortis Trials - "Visions" is a horrible idea

I don’t know about you but the idea of this entire game mode taking place in “visions” completely ruins any type of fun or motivation to play this mode. I don’t even understand how they came up with such a dumb idea but once again, it just re-iterates the fact that these developers are NOT listening to anything we say on the forums.

“Atoma Prime is an Imperial Hive World and the capital of the Moebian Domain in the Segmentum Solar that has been consumed by conflict with an infestation by Chaos caused by the Chaos Cult dedicated to Nurgle known as the Admonition, which gained the support of the corrupted Moebian 6th Regiment of the Astra Militarum’s Moebian Regiments, now a Traitoris Militarum force.” Atoma Prime has a population of 90 billion btw. Why are we going into visions to fight enemies rather than going into some type of mission on the planet itself?

We have people that work for Fatshark replying to us on the forums and it seems to mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. We have seen time and time again that they will not only NOT listen to us, but actively do the OPPOSITE of what the MAJORITY playerbase wants.

Before I start getting people saying “look at the crafting update and the other stuff they listened to us on!” Yeah it only took thousands upon thousands upon thousands of replies/likes/complaints for them to even consider doing any of that stuff.

Just speaking for myself here, usually I’m not much interested in game modes different than the original but I think I will enjoy the Mortis Trails.

My entire playgroup is excited for the new mode. :person_shrugging:

Certainly more than they were for Havoc anyway.

There’s literally no thought behind this lol. They finally brought chaos wastes over from V2 in the most meaningless way possible. “visions created by a random on the mourningstar” why would I want to be hallucinating and killing enemies on the mourningstar? Why don’t I travel by ship to a location and do the trials somewhere on ATOMA, the GIANT HIVE CITY. This is literally just the least amount of thought and effort thrown at us to get people to shut up

Speak for yourself bruh, VT2’s Back to Ubersreik taking place in an illusion doesn’t change the fact it’s a popular set of maps. I could even say it’s a fan favourite of the DLCs.

I can see this being way more popular than Havoc for sure. I don’t like the idea behind how they did it but oh well, i guess it’s difficult to think up some actual meaningful content now rather than just “oh here you are teleported to a new dimension”

To each their own - I don’t like the idea of minimal dev effort even though they have so much content they could draw from. I am obviously just being picky but at this point I am sick of their lack of care toward actual, meaningful content.

its literally not even out yet

“I don’t know about you but the idea of this game mode” do you understand what that means?

Between early access to VT1 and VT2, the map for Horn of Magnus is tattooed on the inside of my skull.

what part of “its not out yet” do you not understand?
you’re making assumptions and choosing to have a bad time imagining a bad update

What part of “I don’t know about you but the idea of this game mode” do you not understand? Can you not comprehend basic English? The statement MEANS I am complaining about the mode BEFORE it releases because they have provided all the details BEHIND the mode. Which means I am aware of how the mode FUNCTIONS before it released BECAUSE they provided details on how it works. Do I need to spell this out for you?

Also, since people apparently don’t have any reading comprehension - my MAIN complaint is the method in which they are providing the content. “visions from stefoni” or w/e her name is, is the most least effort thing they could of possibly done. Give me one day and I could think of 20 better methods than being magically teleported to a new dimension to fight enemies when we are on a GIANT HIVE CITY.

Frankly I don’t even give a damn about the lore at this point. They had their chance and wasted it. Fatshark could outdo the Bible with Darktide’s plot and I still wouldn’t care.

The only thing that will matter to me is if it is mechanically good. We’ve already got a strike for lack of singleplayer and potentially no quickplay, so forecast is grim.

I don’t like splitting the playerbase into different gamemodes. That doesn’t mean that I think the modes are bad, I just don’t think that it’s the best thing to do… nor something the playerbase asked for.

I don’t even think the mode itself is bad, I am complaining about their complete lack of real effort with implementing a mode people have been asking for a very long time. All they did was say “well they obviously want chaos wastes and not havoc, let’s make this random NPC able to give them visions of Chaos wastes and call it a day” bruh.

It ain’t even CW by the sounds of it. It’s just rapidly escalating horde mode.

Well if that’s the case then I will be even more disappointed lol

I think it sounds great and am totally fine with a tide mode being explained away with psyonics.

I think it’s actually a pretty neat way to explain it. I suggested something similar ages ago.

Why must every battle be story driven?

Personally, the narrative of the levels has zero impact on my enjoyment of the gameplay.

your complain is just wrong
whats the difference between imaginary missions and imaginary missions^2? we’ve been doing the same missions over and over again without a sense of an underlying story since the game came out now.
if anything visions being repeating missions is easier to explain

The idea of “learning tidbits of lore about other characters” is also something that’s fine on paper, this is very VERY similar to what Bastion did with its Who Knows Where trials, but there are some key differences:

  • The characters we learn about have a personal connection to the Kid, the protagonist
  • It’s told like a story - we learn about their past and their motivations through natural storytelling instead of random gossip blurbs
  • It’s all self-contained - each character’s Who Knows Where trial has its own sequences of enemies and hazards
  • The story is told by a man with a gift of a voice and not someone who sounds like a creep living under your floorboards

This is essentially a TLDR of another post I made with a similar idea but I will forever argue the point that I simply Do Not Care about our NPCs without a reason to care.
