What are your initial impressions? Do you feel like it has staying power or it missed the mark?
it feels like malice even on damnation there’s like 8x enemies per horde and bosses die in 3 seconds it gets so boring.
If they add an auric difficulty that is endless until you decide to extract or die (obviously) and the difficulty scales up the higher you go then it will be waaaaay better

In a 30 minute match it takes 20 minutes to reach a point where there is enough action to not fall asleep compared to auric and then its over in 10.
Modifiers are nice but honestly i’d rather play auric in the long run there is just too little going on.
I watched a video of the new mode on damnation and it was a snooze fest, it looks boring. The player buffs are super strong, regular damnation is not hard enough for this.
I can only agree. I have now played two rounds and stopped the 2nd because it is really boring…
Its simply way too easy for the amount of power you get. For example i was tossing ogryn nukes with twin grenades that stunned in the end and i was getting one every 20 seconds for free. If that was not enough i was also dealing close to 2x damage to burning enemies ..
Yet the elite or even horde density is not even close to what you get in aurics.
This is edited after doing 6 rounds of trials but my general stance remains the same. If this is going to be that “chaos waste” inspired power level insanity game mode then you actually need to spawn enemies from the very beginning to make it interesting. I can totally see the idea here but the execution is currently lacking when the only potentially fun part is the last 2 waves and even that can vary wildly from run to run.
Even if you crank up difficulty, so what? There is no reason to play this mode over Havoc 40, or Auric Maelstrom. They literally designed it with NO replayability, NO long term rewards, and absolutely NO narrative drive.
But fear not, according to experts:

Too easy. Too few spawns.
I like the levels. But the quality of spawns is wildly inconsistent. Shame.
I’ll grab the penances do a solo once the mods come out and never touch it again

Are there any drip, frames or title rewards?
Some banners, a trinket, and a couple titles I think. Not great, not terrible. 80 penance points so I’m gonna power through 'em just for that since I’m so close to getting those Loyalist 6th Helmets.
Hmm, okay… I’m not particularly hyped for the mode itself (can’t check it out until tomorrow because of work), but I could be pleasantly surprised of course, and if there are any insignias or titles that I like, I’ll get those at least.

Alot of waves, quite a time commitment per session. Maybe 5 waves instead of higher intensity for quicker jump in and play.

Nice power trip feeling of game mode exclusive buffs. 4x Zealot dash, auto-stagger every 10 secs, +50% damage etc

Since no linear map traversal and in set smaller areas - There is more willingness for randoms to stick together more, i.e. in normal missions always get 1-2 running ahead aggro everything.

However it is having to wait and drone through many waves before any excitement, so it’s a like a warm up. Might be better 5 high intensity waves from get go without stepping up/warm up waves.

Alot of down time in waiting between waves, not as if anything to explore.
In normal missions there was dilemma of when to push ahead together or collectively pull back, when to pad down back spawns enough to decide whether to aggro next sections ones. The feeling of getting to the chopper extraction was always the fun part. But in trials, you simply just walk to exit.
Even though medstation is limited. It didn’t matter because hostage rescue was right behind you and that is infinite respawn it seems?
Havoc, trial modes and terminals in mourningstar. I can see quite a bit of effort into these games modes development. Can’t help but feel would of been easier to just introduce T6, T6 Auric which is basically spawn tweaking on existing maps and use that time for more maps as well.
But I guess it promotes certain positive play than normal missions
- Everyone sticks together more, no where else to explore or run to next aggro everything.
- No possibility of loot goblins sucking up stims, ammo. Just completely limited resources. Just play with what you got.
But stepping up waves and feels like half are warm up. Hit it from 1st to 5th wave with same high intensity. Shorter, more step up. I think 12 waves is quite a time commitment to be considered a quick jump in and play.
The hostage rescue point being so close and infinite does make it this game mode more forgiving.
It was fun, but was too easy. I think it has great potential. I think the difficulty should scale higher much more quickly. Most of the waves remain way too easy even on damnation.
There is too much waiting between waves.
The buffs are really fun and add some interesting variety to the gameplay. AOE brainburst was awesome.
I’d love to see an infinite waves mode where it just kept getting harder with more and more enemies, more and more bosses etc.
an auric mortis would be very welcome and maybe even havoc mutators between waves
it’s a fun mode to get warmed up, played around 5 round in each difficult. Damnation is the only one where you get at least some amount together that you don’t get bored after wave 4. Do love the craziness of the perks you get. As already said , a shorter wait time between the waves and maybe an endless wave system would be cool, with a kill count how many enemies are left from the wave. I thought before I played it, it would be a mix between chaos waste and weaves system, it is a baby from it but missing some of the variety. Perhaps we get it later on. And please add some cosmetics to the hole “Chosen” Mortis stuff
