I’d KILL for a character customization overhaul. It’s one of my single largest gripes with the game, aesthetically speaking, and it’s why basically every single one of my characters wears a full face cover in some way outside of my Ogryn. New hairstyles (PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GIVE US MORE HAIRSTYLES) and allowing us to blend between two face shapes would make a world of difference in terms of player power with customization. Like, I’m not asking to be able to make super models, but just regular ass looking people instead of characters that look like they just birthed from a sludge vat, it just makes me not want to look at them at all, and that always sucks when you feel like you’re actively being discouraged to look at your characters because almost all your options range from “even your mother hates your face” to barely even reaching “meh”.
A large portion od Steam users need their eyes checked. Maybe this explains so many players ignoring the costant pinging of ammo, stims etc.
Honestly I kinda want the same. What are they gonna do? Make helmets and stuff clip through faces? Fatshark is so abominably lazy that a good chunk of cosmetics do that anyway.
Darktide’s ONLY strength is gameplay. A character rework is desperately needed from a consumer and business perspective. Only fatshark has the data on retention rates but it’s obvious that the models and a lack of aesthetics filters too much of the potential player base (Especially women), while the existing player base is generally dissatisfied as well (Me included). They can do better while staying true to 40k, and I want to see them do better because not only is VT2 my favorite game of all time, but Darktide is a nice alternative I dumped 1k hours into, but once the gameplay loop runs it’s course there is nothing enticing me to the experience beyond the occasional havoc 40. VT2 works because each class & character is individualized and the dlc skins are actually worth paying for. It Frustrates me to no end that I can’t personalize my character from the masses, it’s just interchanging the same armor/helmet that your teammate can also be seen wearing in game.
Darktide is:
- Ugly
- Lacking feminine/masculine distinctive models which is a big killer in every player’s ability to distinctively differentiate & personalize their characters.
- Lazy
The models are pretty good, the animations are hella goofy.
I like them.
Since they don’t have the U5 like V2, with unique characters. I would go as far to ask for more/different voice actors. The gas mask modifier is a good start.
Funny thing is, it’s both males and females that like to make/want their characters too look pleasing, when they play their games. Females will make both male and female characters they find attractive.
So all the people screaming coomers are quiet frankly embarrising.
The fact that developers from many studios pander to people with a warped sense of reality just goes to show how out of touch with reality these people are, and the utter hogswash game developers are being taught in college and university.

it’s the reason games have pretty skins for sale, and why the better looking faces are the more popular.
90’s were pretty good too.
I feel compelled to mention skins would sell even better with improved models though helm sales may decline… if female body skins improved… would more than make up for it.
With Mortis operatives, improved npc dialog even Zola feels like she’s adopted us…I think the reject phase is over.
A few more plain faces for the humies would be nice. It’s an issue when a bearded ogryn is more traditionally attractive than 90% of the human offerings.
