RNG needs to be ditched entirely, on everything. It’s a horde shooter, not Diablo. Let me pick the weapon I want and go slay heretics. I don’t want to farm for days for resources and then blow them on rolls from Brunt and then have Hadron brick something when I do get a good item.
Your crafting system and loot system sucks.
deathloop has nice loot system for julianna. each experience breakpoint gives you random weapon and trinket (blessing/perk) from the pool. hence the more you play the more different items you get as the pool of tiems get smaller.
the single player mode, yoy play as Colt and there you get trinkets and weapons your enemies have. depending on loop stress (difficultly setting) quality of found items varries, but their existence in given location is known in advance.
rng is used, but in very deterministic way. hence fun to use

Should they? Why?
Imho Darktide is designed to give players weapon progression without giving them the feeling they have to farm/grind. (Something VT2 did a bad job in, with how getting good weapons was linked to playing on certain difficulties and farming books.)
From that perspective, putting the focus on drafting the right blessing is rational. Getting the right kind of blessing is easy in Darktide. And here the reasons for “why are there bad cards” apply (having bad drafts makes the good ones stand out more, it might just not be for your build, it might be for something that gets implemented later, it might be for players who are looking for a challenge, it might be a dud).
At the same time having tiers keeps drafting interessting. But you definitely don’t need a high tier weapon for weapons to feel good and powerful around Malice difficulty. (Which, imho, this game is balanced and designed around.) The way many blessings are frontloaded towards lower tiers imho supports this. Like “Deadly Accurate” gives +27,5% on T1, but only climbs to +50% on T4.
Around Malice, deciding on a blessing has some impact (though still little compared to choice of weapon). Levelling the blessing less so.
i am not sure if blessings have any balancing issues on malice. please come back once you are on t5.
The only thing i like about crafting system is enjoyment of new hi-tier blessing recievment. Rest is pure scam (casino).
Which darktide does worse since it encourages everyone to farm on damnation, which Vermintide was smart enough to keep that to legend so players not farming books stayed together on cata and had a more unanimous goal.
In darktide you have to look for randomly spawned plastic and diamonds on the map instead of 5 books where they were guaranteed to be (and fun to acquire sometimes).

Because that’s what it is. I wish I could meet with bright lad from FS who thought that RNG is a great idea in 2023.

I will transalte: “we had to find more toxic and predatory ways to force our players to sink more hours into our game than they normally would, since we had no content. Therefore RNG and “time sinks” came in, including perk/blessing locks. We hope that people will get addicted to try to get “god-roll” dopamine rush and play the game not for fun, but out of loot addiction. As far I more content: we have no dang clue, whole studio plays DRG”.
That’s the frustrating thing tbh.
A lack of content can be remedied.
Artificial player retention makes people genuinely mad, and you’re not getting that player base back.
Yeah, I’m with you on that.
But FS themselves names this system “crafting” and I didn’t want to influence the poll by my wording. Even though some people said the poll is biased.
I didn’t expect such big interest for the poll honestly, but the results pretty much show that the playerbase is not happy and FS might consider changing something about the crafting system (although the countless topics over the past months in that regard didn’t do anything).

Would be cool if the revolver alt fire loaded special ammo like the shotguns do.
I accept your opinion and fullheartedly disagree. You need either tons of ordo dockets or have to shopcamp agressively to get good raw weapons. Then you have to invest extremely high amounts of plasteel to turn these weapons into yellow - and all this only gives you chance to roll the one armed bandit…
Two perks or two blessings you don’t want to use? Better luck next time - and you start grinding from zero and are again not sure the result is to your liking…
Compare two predatory F2P games using all the evil tricks from mobile hell including shameless pay to win: Warthunder and world of tanks:
Even in these extremely grindy games you know what you’re grinding for and in the end will have exactly the vehicle in exactly the configuration you wanted…
So even compared to grind-monsters darktide’s grind - as it isn’t even coupled with a certain result - seems quite atrocious to me…
It may be psychological though as I really despise gambling - if you’re a gambler then great you’re enjoying this but I prefer grinding towards a certain result over the chance for quick success any time…
Btw - it would have been possible to combine both ways if they wanted to, they decided for pure gambling and I hate it.
that’s an interesting idea - since the revolver swaps so fast there really isn’t much use in the push it does…
When it comes to “specialty loads” for handgun ammunition there really isn’t much - the revolver is already loaded with hollowpoints (per the model). An interesting idea would be a “consecrated Bullet” Something like the Lehigh’s “controlled fracturing” Bullet would be cool
Could just be bleed/explosive/armor piercing depending on the weapon Mk. Maybe a tracking bullet that tags whatever it hits longer than the normal tag. Definitely want the push alt to be phased out on most weapons for something more interesting.
The multiple layers of RNG and the locks in the crafting system are the reason I stopped playing this game.
I just pop in every so often because for some reason I still have hope that Fatshark will finally come to their senses.
