Agreed, the powercreep with arbites has reached a point where it’s actively demotivating me and I no longer feel like playing, even though I’d like to.
The only real danger to any half-decent arbites is a trapper behind tons of armor/bulwarks.
At least with the other classes I felt like there was a balance, psyker you get a lot of power but you’re a bit squishy, especially on havoc, as Ogryn you’re a big target, easier to be hit by both ranged and sliding melee and specials but that’s acceptable for the power you get.
Veteran and Zealot are both decent but require a bit higher skill level to perform well and much more focus than arbites mindlessly rushing through everything in it’s path.
I enjoyed lvling Arbites, but around lvl 14-17 I already started to feel as powerful as the other classes and with max lvl and gear I felt like a god.
At first I was like, I’ll just play the OG 4 classes since this is boring me, but that didn’t help, because since everyone else is killing all types of enemies SO FAST and not really needing help or even needing bubble shield / voice of command / choir, it felt very … ehm, whatever the opposite of engaging is (sorry, english isn’t my native language).
In many of the defense/hacking events I ended up literally just standing there.
And it’s as you mentioned, it’s not just the arbites (but they are the main problem in my eyes), once there is a rumbler spamming ogryn, purgatus psyker the match immediatly becomes 50% less fun.
The dueling sword I agree, but I can’t make good arguments, I’m biased against it because the wh40k world is so full of gore and crude weapon, cool stuff like thicc axes, chainswords, power swords and then the pokey stabby sword is what everyone is using because it’s a crutch, I hate it, I’d rather see knife wielders for that kind of mobility.
Edit:
Before arbites it was slightly anoying, but bearable, when someone played off-meta, it was appreciated, the arbites made the bucket overflow.
As a result the last time I even launched darktide was July 7th.
