Please fix the powercreep (RANT)

Been on weekend playtest

I know it is beta but oh dear had a feeling unreal engine not good for horde games. People say other unreal games stutter and those games had hardly any onscreen NPCs. Stutters when 20 horde shows up.

Hope FS know what they’re doing with with unreal engine and horde…

Sprint is actually slower than walking in Darktide. Feels like 6 people on sunday stroll and carrying sack of potatoes.

Enemies just lose health and die with fixed death animation of exploding gibs. No impact effect i.e them staggering. Like a solid walking health bar. Like firing on a terminator T800 that shows no reaction then suddenly dies on the spot in red mist.

There is no weapon inertia in terms of weapon recoil to your character’s body. No weapon kick feedback on single or auto, small or large calibre weapons. Just spits out like pee.

I know it’s no different from Killing Floor 2, but hoped it would at least stepped up a bit after 10 years.

Yea I know its Beta…hilariously bad effort from what I see.

Yes, that’s correct!

My old main (Tallarn Veteran) is called “Wahid,” but when Arbites were announced, I knew I wanted to main them instead, so I changed my name to “Jacek,” which is the name of my Arbites.

I liked kf2. Though it wasn’t goated it felt alright and fun overall.
I wanted kf3 to be good but man, i’ve been playing the beta and it’s like an early access game from 2010.

Agreed, the powercreep with arbites has reached a point where it’s actively demotivating me and I no longer feel like playing, even though I’d like to.
The only real danger to any half-decent arbites is a trapper behind tons of armor/bulwarks.

At least with the other classes I felt like there was a balance, psyker you get a lot of power but you’re a bit squishy, especially on havoc, as Ogryn you’re a big target, easier to be hit by both ranged and sliding melee and specials but that’s acceptable for the power you get.
Veteran and Zealot are both decent but require a bit higher skill level to perform well and much more focus than arbites mindlessly rushing through everything in it’s path.

I enjoyed lvling Arbites, but around lvl 14-17 I already started to feel as powerful as the other classes and with max lvl and gear I felt like a god.

At first I was like, I’ll just play the OG 4 classes since this is boring me, but that didn’t help, because since everyone else is killing all types of enemies SO FAST and not really needing help or even needing bubble shield / voice of command / choir, it felt very … ehm, whatever the opposite of engaging is (sorry, english isn’t my native language).
In many of the defense/hacking events I ended up literally just standing there.

And it’s as you mentioned, it’s not just the arbites (but they are the main problem in my eyes), once there is a rumbler spamming ogryn, purgatus psyker the match immediatly becomes 50% less fun.

The dueling sword I agree, but I can’t make good arguments, I’m biased against it because the wh40k world is so full of gore and crude weapon, cool stuff like thicc axes, chainswords, power swords and then the pokey stabby sword is what everyone is using because it’s a crutch, I hate it, I’d rather see knife wielders for that kind of mobility.

Edit:
Before arbites it was slightly anoying, but bearable, when someone played off-meta, it was appreciated, the arbites made the bucket overflow.

As a result the last time I even launched darktide was July 7th.

Ah yes, the sacred ritual of logging in just to cry for nerfs to things you don’t even use. It’s honestly impressive how someone’s entire gaming experience crumbles because another player clicked ‘start’ with a class/weapon/build they personally don’t vibe with. The moment someone plays a meta build or dares to have fun in their own way, it’s DEFCON 1 in the feedback forums.

Meanwhile, you’re standing in the corner of a defense objective like a decorative NPC, yelling ‘OP!’ at anything that moves faster than a snail or kills more than two enemies in under five minutes. Feels like a crusade for self-validation, that requires therapy, not being the fun-police. Because heaven forbid someone enjoys something you don’t.

Perhaps…just maybe…there’s a modicum of a chance other players having fun with the tools available doesn’t actively sap joy from your life? You are not the main character. The dueling sword isn’t haunting your dreams. Chill. Drink some water. Touch some grass. Let people play the game without turning every deviation into a manifesto-worthy tragedy.

Corpse on the throne you guys are dramatic.

WOW. People don’t like it when the map is empty on Auric Maelstrom because of Players oneshotting everything while speedrunning? Yeah, totally our problem and we should just accept that crap. You’re totally right! What a joke.

@fuugesnamo This Dagoth Ur or whatever’s doing that weird anecdotal ad hominem nonsense again and you’re better at grilling them for it than I am. Would you be a doll and save me some time? Thank you in advance.

Malice to Damnation should be for the average human, not Auric Malestrom to Havoc 40. It’s really not that hard to wrap your head around logic, is it? Maybe it is, I don’t know anymore.

Yeah these guys have a problem with my Kill Everything Gun calling for nerfs when they don’t even use it smh.

I really, truly hope that all you clowns are trolling at this point. I’d like to believe fellow gamers and humans can’t be this stupid. But I know better.

So you think that people saying weapons need nerf have never played with them and maybe stopped because they were so powerful they were boring? Or maybe have experienced something like playing THammer zealot and watched a lobby of 3 DS4 vets kill absolutely everything before you charged a swing?

You believe all that on top of some false purity test that to criticize weapons you must or mustn’t use them, depending on who’s point you want to try to invalidate?

Like I said, I hope you’re a troll cuz the other option is pitiful.

It’s fun to get to kill things in this game, I don’t think anyone who plays this would disagree. When you run off-meta builds you kill fewer things because those running meta builds have a faster ttk and/or get to move through the map safely because they have infinite TDR/Regen and get to the enemies before you. A strong player on a strong meta build right now does actually diminish the fun of the other three players. Not having to engage with mechanics of the game because one player does so much damage and/or stagger is not fun. Players will always tend towards optimization and they’re incentivized to do so by the game. It’s because of this you must do nerfs on the strongest things. It doesn’t mean rendering them useless nor the removing them as being the strongest thing. If players derive the most fun from deleting all the enemies they always have a lower difficulty they can play to do so. On the highest difficulty, there is nowhere else to go if challenge is what you seek.

Looks like my b as well. Think I missed your sarcasm toward his point.

This is the nicest, most eloquent, and clear explanation of the concept of balance and what it means that anyone in the forum has posted in a while. It represents the sentiment of every rational person on the side of some nerfs.
Now let’s watch the never-nerfs come in and ignore or miss the point.

clearing game content not suited otherwise for a certain level of skill, thanks to ingame items or a whole character ?

but please keep in mind michael, impromtu sessions are a little more expensive

What does this mean?

So when are you leaving the game? This is good news as one less to deal with!

As a somewhat vet player, I am close to 100 games on Arbie and it’s making me worse at the game.

I now banned myself from Arbie Shock Maul, the dog and Castigator Stance because these things alone are OP, together they’re a hard carry.

So many players say lone wolf is op, but the dog is just Cray cray ramping up the opportunity costs very high. Id say dog is meta and I’m also afraid of learning bad habits.
