Please allow host kicking like HD2

Community for this game is absolute toxic garbage, some people are really f*cking special, on top of all the faults fatshark has as a developer and company, at the very least we should be able to filter garbage people out of our games.

Plz fatsharp, I will buy repainted cosmetics again if you add host kick, thx.

There is no host.

Technically speaking, Fatshark is the host. But you’re right.

I guess in that case, they are host kicking me, when ever i get a crash?

Yes, just not on purpose (I hope). :stuck_out_tongue:

You can already cast a vote in-game for kicking a player.

If that’s what you mean?

The guy wants host kicking, which would allow the host (in games that have one) to kick anyone at any time, without a vote.

Vote kicking makes no sense in a 4 player co-op game and foster a toxic garden of shittee behaviour.

With vote kicking, if even one player is inactive, distracted (COFFxboxCOFF) , or has a different threshold for what they consider kick-worthy behavior, it can lead to unfair situations. Two players could effectively overrule the third simply because they have differing opinions on what crosses the line.

Just make it so whoever picked a mission in the hub is “the host” and whoever uses quickplay isn’t.

Uhhh, no. They are lobbies. There is no host. If the match isn’t going ideal, then find another lobby.

I agree the current system doesn’t need this feature imo, but I do think allowing setting up of host games should be an option somewhere perhaps.

It’s always felt super bizarre that you can’t just choose any map with any difficulty and any special condition.

Absolutely! Yes, if they make hosted games/private games a thing, then absolutely. I’d love a feature that lets us do that.

Yep then you could allow or disallow public joining. Sometimes you might just want to goof about in a level to test stuff out without harming anyone else’s game. :ok_hand:

People always pass this off as toxic but it creates a very simple dynamic: if you don’t like the type of lobby the host wants, just host your own. Then you’d end up with speedrun lobbies, chill lobbies, greenbeards welcome lobbies, auric survivor only lobbies, or whatever else you can come up with. Someone is acting out of place completely? A zealot is speedrunning in a chill lobby? Someone is wasting all the ammo in a tryhard lobby? Simply kick. It doesn’t seem that toxic to me if you were able to actually designate the lobbies like in most other games. Meanwhile the current system has its benefits too I’m sure, but it also makes it so 2 casual players will be matched up with 2 zealot speedrunners and that’s just not fun to either party involved and kicking is no solution here.
As for the client/host issue It technically doesn’t actually need you to host to achieve this dynamic. You could just designate one client as the lobby owner and give him the privileges.

I’m not really expecting them to actually overhaul the matchmaking into a lobby based system, I’m just saying it’s not really more toxic like people often make it out to be. DRG works great from a coop toxicity sense, way better than Darktide if you ask me.

What if the host himself is toxic? tbh you also sound like one.

I agree with this and absolutely don’t see it as toxic at all. It’s just industry standard stuff by now.

If anything it’s toxic to not do it. We’ve all had regular run ins with players who are are trolls or self interested or running penances.

I don’t think it would take much to update the lobby system tbh. All the groundwork and networking is already there.

I think a new private lobby system could sit alongside the current one happily tbh.

But as Flawless and Fatshark already said, it’s a moot point. It’s not going to be a thing. Ever.
They purposefully set the entire infrastructure (and game code) up to support the game as it is current - A backend server generates the missions and a 2nd server then hosts the missions for you. You will not be the host, unless you mod self-hosted lobbies. Those are offline, only, though.

True. I remember all the arbitrary kicking going on, both in Payday 2 and Vermintide 2. I’m glad Fatshark decided to remove player agency in this specific aspect. People do not have the mental fortitude or adulthood to manage themselves. It’s as shrimple as that.

I mentioned this but nothing prevents them from allowing you to “own” a lobby regardless. I know games that do this. Not that I expect them to either, mind. Just saying it’s totally possible

It’s also kinda understandable in HD2 since a player have much more way to ruin the mission and other player’s experience compared to Darktide, but even then there are still multiple complaints about host being a d and kicking people for minor stuff.

For example, this guy got kick because host is being an idiot and didn’t know he can’t be reinforce within the vicinity of a jammer.

One person’s D is another’s sweet and soft V. In HD2 I always host and I kick people all the time for a variety of reason, but there’s always a reason, even if someone else disagrees with it. If you get kicked, find a new lobby. Collective punishment on account of a couple overtly toxic people who use kick features with ill intent isn’t really a good enough reason to bin an entire system in my eyes. If you don’t want to match the playstyle of the host, just host your own.

Unless player are deliberately trolling or being super toxic, I never see the need to kick anyone imo.

If you want people to play your way then just play with a group of friends.
