Players are hating maps - Qiuck wipes on quick play

I suppose it’d be neat if in the future there was a boss map where you’ll kill it after a third of the map, then have to get out again alive.
The potential wipe is earlier in the map, that way, and there’s too few “get away” scenarios like that.

Hey, thanks will do when I will be there next time ;] It can be long time from now, but will try!

Tho we was able to clear Skiter on champion in that run. We will see, I generaly like the whole level.

I think the general consensus with the boss maps is that they’re too long (Skittergate is WAY too long) and both Spinemangler and Halescourge are too difficult to want to bother with most of the time. Even after the nerfs I’ve had some ridiculous add spawns in both boss fights - Halescourge throwing about 50 adds at us in one wave, and Spinemangler spawning a full shield stormvermin patrol from one of the spawn points (with normal adds from the rest of them.) I think those issues are largely due to the inconsistency in the AI Director right now, so hopefully after that’s fixed the fights will be less prone to problems.

Changing the rewards of boss missions or adding bonuses for boss kills does not change the underlying problem, which is that every mission with a boss has a much higher chance of getting nothing at all. It doesn’t matter if the reward is 10 chests, if most PUGs will still fail the mission at the end.

The solution to this problem is to change WHEN rewards are granted on these missions, specifically, BEFORE the boss fight. Up to that point, the mission is just a normal one, and on very well designed levels that people enjoy playing on. If you make it to the boss, you should get a chest just like every other level. Then you can have the boss be an extra reward of whatever flavor you want, it doesn’t matter anymore, but failure to kill him should not sacrifice everything.

If you do that, then every level is feasible and equally fun and playable. People would not jump off cliffs to avoid these levels because there’s no longer a threat of a complete waste of time at the very last second. The bosses become extra challenges that people want to complete, not difficulty spikes so high that suicide is a better option.

Edit: And come ON fatshark, add some guaranteed healing before that damn rat-knight boss fight. Why is that the ONLY fight, including skittergate, that has no healing right before the boss, and no ammo box???

Halesourge is actually okay IMO. If you stayed at ranged, you can dodge his spread shot pretty easily. My friends can hit him in the back in the meantime. He is also vulnerable to ranged fire. If you stay in the corners, his mobs can be spotted and won’t hit you in the back. Plus, your teammates can spawn inside the arena. He doesn’t mitigate any damage because he is just a simple meat boy.

Spinemangler is just frustrating for me.

I agree that there should be a boss kill bonus in the loot section to give some reward to the players that sit through those maps and not the shorter ones.

Don’t get me wrong, my friends and I still play the boss maps from time to time but it would be really nice to have a bonus for playing those maps.

Afterall, this is why I don’t like to post on “dev forums” - because they absolutely don’t care about that. Wasted time for me, and this is always disappointing.

Well he’s ok at range until he teleports on top of you (which still does damage, unlike the leeches) then instantly slimes you.

i find spinemangler the easiest boss imo.

for party’s that are scared of him, i tell them to ignore/dodge the boss and focus on adds. the fight goes nice and slow and damage avoidance is easy.

when he runs to a spot and doesn’t move, the party actually can sit at a distance and range him. he won’t become active until a certain hp threshold or someone decides to engage in melee combat. just plain running away and blocking him makes the fight a lot easier for newbie teams.

biggest problem in most boss fights are adds, if that’s taken care of the boss is generally weak

Okay. I will try that. Be more patient.
