Picture frames based on level past 35 ? (reply with ideas)

Technically they aren’t capped. At least they weren’t last I checked - the inventory screen still shows the ‘+N’ for every career. Its just that noone else sees this in VT2.

Yep, I was trying to think of a way to award something to players past a certain +100 levels or some such. Now it seems like a bad idea. The loyalty idea sounded better until you pointed out people would abuse that too.

To bad games and gamers have gotten to this point eh?

So, any ideas out there for awarding something to players past 35? And not just the commendation chests please  Maybe a hat in the shape of…a shark

So I think there are many reasons for why someone would want a frame and they have been posted on this topic. I see both sides to the frames=ego boost debate. Since this is a point of contention I’m still of the mindset that frames at the end of the day are a way of customizing or personalizing your account. This is why I’d push for more frames that show playstyle ( I’d still like to see complete missions on X difficulty frames etc… in the future though. Advocating for one doesn’t mean to exclude others). I’d also add if possible a stagger score in the end game score card but that’s a topic for another day. Imagine a frame with a hammer crushing a rat skull. This can be for X kills with a hammer. Wings or an extended hand (helping hand) for X revives in X games or X difficulty.

These are not impossible to get but have a time and skill (or playstyle) lock to them that at the same time can personalize a players account and when running in a party and you see a helping hand frame you might think well this HM really likes to revive or help teammates in a pinch… or a hammer and a little rat man flying showing this dude likes stagger builds etc.

I have no doubts people interpret frames differently when they see one on a player but for me when I see someone with a hunter or ranger legend frame on I interpret that as that person liking range more than melee combat with that character.

Ya, right from the start someone assumed it was ego and whatever else. Seriously ? What about the rewards for players who’ve been with V2 from the start? I didn’t realize that adding a frame for something so trivial would have this kind of negativity. If it was something you had to equip, then I could see an issue… but geez.

People are… people I guess. I think Rat Effer has got the right idea.

Its just it doesn’t work even on the surface of it. For example even if you genuinely want to flex and equip the 500 deed frame and you join my lobby and all I think is “I know how you did all those deeds, mate - I know the exploit too”. And given how good and airtight pretty much every mechanic in this game is manufactured, there is really no single un-cheese-able metric like that.

There are some better ones like doing 100 missions with every career for example - that at least speaks to your general perspective on the game because even if you wanted to cheese it, hopped lobbies etc. etc. you still inescapably absolutely had to do at least some work to complete that challenge.

But one-dimensional things like ‘X anount of hours in game’ or ‘Y amount of deeds done’? - Nah, mate, those don’t even work as Internet penis in this game anymore.

Okay that makes more sense. So, leveling all character classes to a certain point would be ok for a frame, not just the time played? Seems fair , lots of work for just a stupid frame but It could be a goal for some people. Good idea.

And I hate the 500 deed thing for a frame. However, some people have completed it (legit) just for the picture frame.

Thanks,

Yeah, and I know at least one person who did like 2000 deeds legit at this point and actually petitioned to the devs to add some more deed frames

But the fact that the exploit eventually got vetted by the devs themselves because they are so lazy to fix that goddamn system for good just devalues that frame and the achievement. Just because there is a cheesy way to do something people will take the path of least resistance to get it and basically make whatever that was worth less.

Seeing how most of those completionist achievements are cheeseable to a degree, I usually get the warm fuzzies when I see frames that were awarded for participating in community events mostly. That’s just fun memorabilia - those do not particularly speak of skill or anything like that but are just something to reflect upon. Like the ‘Good guy Nick’ achievement o L4D2. It’s something unique and the more time passes the more valuable those get in my opinion.
Also I like things that are pretty. Sometimes people take a career portrait and choose a frame that just perfectly complements it visually - in that case I don’t really care what’s that frame for. Hell, wouldn’t even tell what most of the frames are for without checking the inventory screen. I know that the WoM purple crystal frames look ugly - that is something immediately apparent at least

I would first like to see a solution to the inventory slot problem that we’ll inevitably run into with each new addition.
I don’t think the idea of new frames is bad in principle, even if a link to the character level might be a bit too grindy for my taste… on the other hand, it can be seen as a long term option, not every frame has to be linked to a tough challenge.
My bigger problem with the frames, though, is the quality of them… one look at the weave frames should be enough to understand what I mean. So I have to say, I’d rather see high quality, maybe even reworked frames than a mass of new ones that look like they were painted in MSPaint by an intern in 10 minutes.

To this whole ego discussion I just say nothing more… I just don’t understand how people can get so upset about small pixelated pictures…

The actual levels which give power (1-35) are simply more important than whatever vermintide 1 had(Level was pretty irrelevant). Not to mention V2 early on simply capped at 30 and no additional levels were given until later on when you could earn commendation chests. So my guess is that it was just simpler to implement it the way it currently is instead of messing about the UI and showing the irrelevant extras.

Agreed. Frames should at least look like they are worth the time to get. :star_struck: The whole grind to get each character to lv “?” would probably be rare anyway. Besides, I doubt fatshark would even consider it with all the backlash from the players.

As for the whole “ego” argument, it seems based on how people view others. Not worth the effort to defend/rebuke anymore. There is also the problem of exploits so the achievement makes frames pointless. So… who’s ready for Darktide? I’m sure the achievements with that game will be perfect.

This will always be the case with this game. Can’t say I haven’t used an exploit, I mean I did the 160 weaves, ofc I’ve used exploits, and there will always be ppl who do so, bc you can’t fix them all… but sadly I even did it in regular play too. CoD on Cata was my last challenge for almost a year or so, and after several tries when Blightstormers and Gasrats ruined a 15 min run to even get there I was just done  in retrospect it did not feel good… Anyways, I did my 500 deeds legit and was pretty happy when I got the frame

What I want to say is: no one (should) care/s about the frames (since you can never know how ppl achieved them) as an ego boost or to show off, but they are a nice reward for self enjoyment

Absolutely. Exploits are problematic imo when they sour the experience of players who just join random groups to bonk some rats, but when it comes to private games or within groups who are on the same page in regard to achieving a specific goal, then all is fair in love and war. Frames or leaderboards should never be taken as proof of anything.
