Pickpocket nerf is devastating on build diversity

They increased Scum base toughness by 25, so it will be better at scaling it with curios and all sorts of TDR or DR. Perhaps some gigabrain that knows gas damage per tick can calculate the effective toughness pool. But untill then it’s something.

What scares me is this crap.

I mean, I think that’s a pretty bold claim. Forcing your average PUG Scum on Auric to get in melee range to get their ammo back will definitely end up with some of them on the ground. Forcing people to at least sometimes engage with the melee system on the highest non Havoc difficulty gets a thumbs up from me.

Even on Havoc I struggle to believe killing a single elite or special with your melee weapon is an unreasonable ask. Especially with infinite ammo desperado to keep you going, and shivs as a melee option.

the key still is it make this class less fun, it won’t influence the overall power level of the class too much, but it does make the class have less diversity and fun on build choosing and less opportunity for that weaker weapon.

what makes scum special and different from other class is it’s range focus, if you want mixing melee in range, why don’t you play veteran instead.

to me auric is the playground testing various fun builds, I can still get most damage and kill using trash like devil’s claw and headhunters with zealot (around 750k damage). I think as long as it doesn’t make others feel less fun, diversity of builds and fun are the top thing should be considered under havoc lvl

They nerfed purg psyker 2 to have actual gameplay oh no. Just go play purg psyker 1 since they will literally never nerf it. You’re also right and this nerf probably won’t do anything.

I’m busy waiting for them to make it so I don’t have to play with a psyker in literally every havoc 40 lobby. Maelstrom is not a real game mode.

Just my two cents but in my experience it really isn’t all that difficult to weave in and out of melee to kill an elite here or there. In H40 there’s some risk to it, sure, but to me that’s a more engaging playstyle and doesn’t really affect build diversity.

This change doesn’t kill any build unless you don’t melee, and builds that don’t melee are arguably bad for the game

They didn’t even make it so you have to be completely out of ammo like its vermintide counterpart. Just look at your ammo count and go smack a gunner or dog every once in a while.

but for weapon like bolter pistol, each kill restore like 14 rounds which can hardly do something big deal while desperado doesn’t work with it too

If 14 rounds can hardly do something then how did you trigger pickpocket until now?

Could also pick up an ammo tin like every other class has to if they want to get back to shooting.

Ranged also has more value than melee, so of course you don’t have to limit meleeing. Ranged circumvents mechanics, so it needs to be limited

but range scum dont have extra talent for melee
