Instead of trying to come up with a “one size fits all” solution to the peril/staff effects, you should consider adding several different settings in the options.

This way you can offer an option to players that have photosensitive issues, or any health issue that may be triggered by the lights/effects patterns. Some players might want a more pronounced effect, similar to what it was on release, or a “crazy melt ur brain normal effects x100” setting.

By adding options, rather than go thru 100 different updates trying to find the one that everyone might be okay, but not really happy with, you are more likely to be able to satisfy a broader range of players.
