Overcrowdedness of Gunners

As the old Saint Ignatius said, “Qui non discunt semper obire” meaning “Those who do not learn forever suffer”

He didn’t really say that, I made it up. But it sounds epic

Positioning?
Am I the only one who cleared a room, entered the next one, and got surprised by a whole gunner squadron shooting me in the back from the previously empty room?

You didn’t hear a charge up sound? You didn’t hear chatter?
You didn’t get any sound cue? You were just randomly shot?

That never happens.

I think the fix is obvious… enemies should never spawn close to a player.
I have seen such situation on the bridge in ''can’t remember name of mission"
We had killed everything, then we faced a wall of shootgunners / reapers and we took cover. Then a patrol of 6 shotgunners spawned behind us…
We were dead in no time. It was like, “sh*t shotgunners behind…” DEAD “…us”.

If I’m already engaged with the next room of enemies, what good does it do for me to hear a cue?

What do I do? I tell the new enemies to stop a second because gunners have spawned behind my back?

Hell, I even got a crusher literally fall on my head once, you think there was any sound before that happened?

You dodge sideways into cover as you keep blocking / attacking. Then after dealing with the immediate melee threat, you shoot the Heretic sonsofbitches.
If all the randos I see daily during play can do it, then so can you. I believe in your competence. Stop being victim, start being a true slayer of Heretics, champ! :fist:

Occasionally stuff happens. That’s more funny than anything. If you don’t take joy from the random mishap, why even play games to begin with?

Here I agree. In the situation I related… I laughed a lot when we were all on floor. And I guess the others have also laughed. At least, there was no hate at the end screen
And this was one situation I can remember on the XX missions I did in the past days…

But, even, there should be a sort of exclusion zone around players that would forbid any spawn. This is killing immersion to see an enemy spawning right in front of us (this happen really often)

What a condescending PoS…
You think that’s not what everybody’s doing?

We’re talking about those situations where the unfairness cannot be mitigated.
We’ve all been playing and completing maps with this absurd overspawning for 2 weeks now, this does not mean that the situation is acceptable.

Nah its not worth with these people (iam making a cofee so I had to come back and see the amazing replies)

The turbo toxic ‘git gud’ idiots who dont read or refuse to acknowledge the situation and just continuously talk about a strawman are not worth to interact with.
We told them the situation to the letter and they talk about something completely else and point at it “ha its easy you can do it! Everything is fine!”

Its cringe honestly

It’s the hardest difficulty of this game with modifiers and everything. Of course it can sometimes appear even unfair.
I really don’t know what you expect. A game full of random elements and encounters is a tough nut at maximum difficulty. That is to be expected.

There is pre-made groups out there clearing the game that high difficulty with a very high successrate. So I don’t know. I myself clear the missions often successfully with little hiccups with an all random team. Same T5+ Auric you play. Same Gunner spam appearing here and there. Same spawns in the back.
This is with me separating from the group to get all the Plasteel they won’t pick up.
I really don’t want to say skill issue, so instead I must ask:
Why does it work for me? Why does it work for the other “pros”? Why does it not work for you?!

Even when the game flings unfair compositions of enemies at you, more than ever before have you now a toolbox of worthy tools to counter it.
I simply don’t see the issue. We all have been asking forever for real difficulty and challenge. Now that it is here, people like you are in the forums saying “no, not like that, please nerf”.
How about some introspection and rethinking your playstyles, loadouts, positioning, etc?
I’m sure if you actually do, you will see success. So no, it was not a condescending answer. I am serious.
This game expects you to grow with it. If you let it happen, wonderful things happen. Don’t be so stubborn.

This mindset you are perpetuating is a non-gamer, toxic victim mindset.
What you’re saying in this thread is essentially “I am being victimized by gunners, pls help”. The community comes together and tells you how to deal with that. Even gunner spam can be countered, easily even if you have experience with it or know what tools to bring.

Your response is to tell us we’re toxic then and cringe.
I tell you what’s cringe. Bringing a Victim mindset to the highest difficulty level. It’s called Auric Missions, Damnation+ for a reason. It is what Cataclysm in VT2 is. It is the extra hard hard mode for people who want to bite granite on their path to the victory screen and seek the rush.

Having to deal with an abundance of elite and specialist enemies brings that rush. If you are not ready to adapt to this, you are not a T5 Auric player. I don’t know what else to tell you.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade or be buried by the lemons. Nobody is going to come and nerf the lemon spawnrate for you.

I just opt into two 20% gunner resist on Zealot at this point and it served me well so far.

I am running 3 times gunner resist on all my chars so the main problem i sometimes run into is trying to close ground against their knockback and stun.
Getting guned down while being in close combat was never a problem, even though i find it highly annoing that gunners often keep on shooting when you are very close to them.

like that guy times fifteen, on that side and the other side of you at the same time.

Replace half the gunners with maulers/crushers. You know for some spice.
Anyways I don’t particularly agree that mass of gunners is really a massive difficulty issue especially with the new talent trees, I rather find them to be just annoying if every 2nd encounter is a firing line.

Most of the time where there is cover they are mostly nuisance yes.
But even then it would be MUCh better if they were a different elite.
What this entre thread is about is that a gunners specificaly can delete a run if they spawn in areas where you dont have enough cover or ‘mandatory build’.

Several of them laser focusing a character deletes them in less than a second and that is a problem for - non special - non sound que - random spawn (behind, above, below etc) - needing only a small gap - 90% accuracy - spawning by the dozens enemy type.

Which several people here took as “lol he cant kill gunners in any situation, here is a video of me charging a mob of gunners that didnt get a chance to shoot easily while ONE is shooting at me, while I have good cover form him.”

Yeah and I don’t particularly disagree with this the game would definitely be more interesting if every 2nd encounter would not be a gunner spam.
Still the amount of times I face unwinnable runs because gunners scattered is extremely rare and I would rate some no sound trapper / laggy sniper shots to be way more common run ender, at least for me.

Yup snipers needing a single pixel or trappers that shoot through million body mass end the run immediately and much more frequently than gunner spawn.
But those are at least specials plus trappers net misses you when you dodge at the right time, and snipers shot has visual and sound que.
Meanwhile a bad gunner spam just happens and a run is ended 100-0 in 2 seconds.
And that for me sucks more than anything.

learn to slide

In which direction: the one where they’re shooting from, the one where they’re shooting from, or the one where they’re shooting from?

I only play auric damnation and I have never had an issue like that with gunners, playing any class. I do not use invis or bubbles/walls.
If you keep looking around, you usually see them before you get shot.
