The new enemy is ridiculous, they’re basically pocket snipers who travel in groups fire in a fraction of the time and have barely any telegraphing or warning before your toughness is instantly gone and your health is 2 tapped.
They are such a departure from the rest of the ranged enemies in the game and just completely obliterate any flow fights have with how run ending they are with no warning.
Enemies with buff and debuff effects should be specialists or monsters imo. Very sporadic and randomized difficulty from these guys at the minute. Either he walks in and dies like any stupid by himself gunner or there’s a group of them tossing volleys, only its far more lethal than any flash convention of dreg gunners could ever hope to achieve. 3 of these guys is like 20 gunners.
I think they have the exact same damage profile as the captain’s plasma too, so one hit will blap your entire toughness regardless. Not an issue when there’s one or two of them, but in packs and mixed in with other ranged units, it hurts a lot. With that kind of threat, they should have more audio and visual cue. Cast a bit more of a red light on them like how scab gunners kinda light up green. They have the exact same issues as early shotgunners until they fixed the sound cues for them.
What I have noticed is that the shot hint/cue, the noise and shine you see before they shoot, is waaaaaaaaay off. I get hit almost instantly as I hear the sound.
Yeah have to agree. They’re instantly the most threatening enemies by a long shot. If there is a squad of them from a distance then they can melt the entire teams in seconds. And they have carapace helmets I believe? They blend into the crowd so hard to see them. Loads of them in glorrianna, it was crazy lol. Their rate of fire is pretty intense
Yeah, that fire rate is high. I think if they were actually signaled to the players better, it would be all right. I think this is the biggest issue with the Twins, too - honestly, kind of feels like they gave up since the sound system is so borked, anyway.
But Plasma Gunners need to be more audible, we need to hear some major hum that starts when they see us, warming up their gun, and they also need to be more visually identifiable. Perhaps they wear some big Chaos Wheel on their shoulders that glows red. Something that makes them not just apparent that they exist at all, but that makes them easy to pick out. You have to know how many there are, because if there’s more than one and you engage one in melee to shut it down, the other one will nuke you almost before you can react to it.
They are the most dangerous enemy in the game, tied only with a Trapper firing right in your face.
Not only this, but the Plasma Gunners need to have their own unique voice calls to better pick them out of the crowd. Trappers cackle like gremlins, Gunners either yell out Dark Tongue slogans or some variant of military jargan depending on what kind they are - Plasma Gunners shouldn’t be any different given how dangerous they are.
