I don’t mind their damage and tracking speed now but the hit stun when you have no toughness is ludicrous. Makes the insane numbers of them so potentially deadly.
If their intention was to make them one of my most feared enemies they definitely succeeded. Green gunners are world eaters disguised.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Justified. We’re supposed to be scared of them locking onto us. Removing their hit stun would remove any incentive to treat them differently to regular trash gunners.
The only times I ever have problems with them are those “out of nowhere” situations where I didn’t see them coming.
True, but when there’s 12 gunners shooting at you from as far as they possibly can. Then it just turns the game into a jiggle peak simulator. And that can get annoying and frustrating pretty quick. Especially when you’re in a large open space, with little cover and no ranged weapon suitable to take them out at range. And I know just “Get Good” or “Play The Meta”, but some of us like to play with everything available to us in the game not just the meta. I love this game but I play it to relax, not to sweat my ass off and get stress headaches. Nothing against those who do, but that’s just not my thing.
I think you’re addressing the wrong issue with Gunners.
Gunners are fine mechanically, but their spawn rates are utterly ridiculous.
id click both boxes.
i think for the game they were designed for they would of been fine, but they have been pushed to the front and number buffed so damn far they have fallen into the same difficulty trap so much has now, they are trivial unless they wipe you .
like all difficulty issues i think it stems from the same place, our ranged capabilities are far more effective than was originally designed for.
justified, because of mechanics like suppression that often is not very acknowledged.
even though most of the time gunners can be easily bypassed just by promptly attacking them in melee, in advance, to prevent the stun.
i think recently they have been buffed, which were about the same as the Beta.
and they are good to break the flow, the only type of enemies that can stop the group for few minutes which leads to interesting fights.
I think overall it is justified, though i do understand why a lot of people dont like it. It is a necessary function of gunners, otherwise you could mindlessly just run straight into a group of them with very little risk or consequence. Shooters atm are simply pathetic, im still not over the last nerf they got after they were buffed. In the current meta, you can pretty much W key the whole way through the map.
Like when a gang of them just so happen to appear behind you with no audio indication that they’re about to annihilate you.
That’s happened to me countless times.
I feel like most things in the game it depends.
People have been complaining about ranged since release, when ranged and especially gunners have never been anything but zoners. All you have to do is look before leaping, use cover & mobility and take them on a few at a time. But so many ppl seem to think they should be able to just waltz right into an open area while peppered from all sides and survive, instead of taking responsibility for their own mistakes. A vast majority of gunner/sniper/any ranged deaths come down to the player just making a mistake.
But there are exceptions. Sometimes the game forces you into open areas & spawns everything 360 degrees around you with no cover anywhere. Or it spawns a little group of gunners right behind you when you already cleared that with no sounds or warnings until you’re already locked. Or you get stuff like snipers who no-scope you instantly with no beam to warn you what was gonna happen.
But as annoying as those are, at least they’re a very rare exception. Not something like the soundless cheat trappers you get 20x per match or something.
Well said.
people thinking ranged stun is fine is beyond me
well its going to depend a lot on what you play . if your a vet your immune to suppression , huge tough and can out regen a pack on damnation so long as you can keep popping heads. and your thinking whats the issue?
playing an ogre with a weak dodge weapon and your looking at 10 of them across a huge room, your gameplan just changed rather dramatically. so long as you saw them
they just have dramatically different affect depending on arch and class
the gunners are already nerfed to the ground. they dont need other nerfs.
Short. To the point. But a bit lacking in explanation?
Why do you think that? Bearing in mind this is a game with aliens, magic shields, and the ability for players to shrug off multiple bullet hits without any damage.
Given the above, a short term stagger that occurs only with bad positioning is an element you’d call out as not being okay?
I don’t like it when it happens, but it kinda feels justified. Step in front of a firing squad and you’d likely get riddled.
In my experience, that usually comes down to poor situational awareness more than anything else. I do class that sort of this as “out of nowhere”, but it usually happens because I wasn’t paying enough attention rather than the game not giving the appropriate warnings.
That was fair when they were elites. But theyre trashmobs now.
I dunno what to vote, and I don’t wanna muddy it. My Kantrael currently gives me ranged immunity if I hit the head, so by my reckoning, if I get stunlocked, the blame is mine. I’ll try to systematically dodge and headshot my way through gunners and reapers, clearing the room of the main threat to non-veterans.
So I’m gonna just agree with whatever everyone else decides.
