100 orange -> 1 red
Which is still rolling the dice, since the things you need to craft them are obtained solely through lootboxes.
Now if reds/red crafting mats were obtained as direct rewards for completing difficult tasks, that I could get behind.
Imagine a guaranteed red drop for completing a legend back to basics deed. I bet people wouldnāt complain about the bad reward on it thenā¦
That would be reasonable. Thatās about 1 red per week for me, and I play a lot. Although honestly, I want the red skins for each weapon more then the red stats, which most of my builds donāt need, so itās a moot point and would be useless anyway. It would give a progressive goal though.
FYI thatās 20 orange dust/1 red dust.
Not entirely.
You can still craft orange weapons through the crafting system via Scrap, then salvage them to make orange dust, which, if this change was implemented, you could then convert into red dust, which you could use to craft the red weapons themselves.
Scrap itself is gained from salvaging items and (to my knowledge), you get 1 Scrap per white item, 2 Scrap per green item, 3 Scrap per blue item, and 4 Scrap per orange item.
The only feasible RNG element in this is the quality of the weapons you get in your chests, which can either result in a big, or small amount of Scrap, which can either slow down or speed up the time it takes to gather the materials.
However, by default, you are guaranteed at least 3 Scrap per chest, no matter what, as thereās always 3 items in a chest, and the lowest possible tier is white.
By the time you get to higher amounts of Hero Power (which, you inevitably will), whites will slowly start to phase out, which will result in chests where green is the lowest quality you can possibly get.
Now youāre guaranteed at least 6 Scrap per chest.
This can go on to become a guaranteed 9 Scrap per chest, or possibly even 12 Scrap per chest (though I have not reached this myself).
Keep in mind that this is assuming you only get the lowest quality weapons in your chests.
The point Iām trying to get across is that youāre not completely left to random chance here. You could, in theory, get to a red weapon solely through getting nothing but whites in your chests, itād just take some time.
If this change was implemented, random chance wouldnāt be the deciding factor of whether or not you would be able to obtain the red weapon (as it currently is), itād only be a deciding factor as to whether itās going to be a fast, or a slow process.
First of all, I donāt want to offend anyone, I just want to state a certain fact:
Players are and continue to get spoiled. What do I mean by that? I mean that If thereās any kind of weapon tier system it is taken for granted by a lot of players. Just because there is a highest tier of weapons, it doesnāt mean that you should automatically have it.
Now, with all due respect, @Adeon Iām skeptic about your numbers. You stated :
Iāve played 518 hours so far and I only miss 3 red weapons to have āall redsā on all characters. Again, Iām not saying that you are lying, Iām simply stating the fact that youāve almost 300 hours of game play more than I do and I have more reds than you do. And I think that I maybe have somewhere around 250-300 hours of legend game play, so thatās 50-65% of my overall game time. So the game is either screwing you hard, or youāre not doing full tomes full grims runs.
Green, blue and orange dust are worth the same since you can convert them. I think this system is fine.
That said salvaging 5 red items to get the item you really want seems a bit much especially for people who play champion, this could be changed to 3 or 4. Iām on 1100 hours and no need for red dust.
