it’s exactly as the title says, it wouldn’t make those guns useless, just give more ability for loadout customization.
I was really hoping when they said that Ogryns were going to have a solution to the dark soon, they meant something like this and not just a new weapon family with lights taped on.
Ideally ranged weapons would at least allow you to customize the special action (where applicable ofc) so you could either choose to utilize a flashlight, a standard bash to push weaker enemies, or equip a bayonet for strong single-target damage.
It’d never happen sadly, but one can always dream.
they should make that, when playing a lights out map, you have a flashlight attached to the body or shoulder w/e that is better than the current one.
working both for melee and ranged to make it fair when playing the modifier.
it is one of the least played modifier in the game, nobody is thrilled by the darkness cause it is not challenging it is just annoying. enemies are less than normal because of the darkness also to compensate the “difficulty”
so the darkness def doesnt add any challenge to it, but rather annoyance.
and i’d argue that if they will add normal flashlights, people will play it more cause fair and also more immersive cause this modifier was meant to be a visual stuff, looking maps in a different way, not being blind.
look relay station with lights out for example…
i’d argue that lights out maps need a rework, total darkness is bad.
controlled darkness with still some environmental lights would make sense and give more depth to the maps making them look like complete new maps. but nope, it’s just pitch black
We already have a weak flashlight at all times.
i’d say nonexistent flashlight at all times
prob OP meant a flashlight bit more stronger than the current one (applied only in lights out)
strong enough to enjoy the modifier because you can see, while also keeping the darkness around obviously. for how it is now, i think it is just badly designed.
Lights out is actually my favorite one out of the three environmental modifiers (i never bring a weapon with flashlight).
Because you can not see a lot, you need decent map knowledge.
The more you can see, the less experience you need.
Maybe they should slightly increase the brightness of our body flashlight (if that is what the majority would want), but they should not go too far with how bright it gets around us.
Since we are on this topic:
They should bring back the illumination from zealot shoulder candles (candles should not wake up demonhosts though).
hehe the old times
i remember the cosmetic being able to light up visually, was cool
sadly they removed that after a patch xD
but yea was cool that
there is also a video showcasing it in my post
It’d be great if flashlights added some degree of suppression in this context
That looks so sick ngl
I’d love for the mission to have more atmospheric lighting, true.
But I can see why we have the black fog aura:
People can’t just ramp their gamme to max to ignore that.
As for flashlights, if they’re on, enemies see you at normal distance, so I prefer them to be optional. Which, of course, requires them being an option.
Who knows, maybe the new Single Heavy stubber turns out good - but clicking fast enough when braced to be effective sounds like a chore, and brace you must for the toughness regen etc.
You will be restricted to one ranged weapon family for the dark mission modifier on ogyrn and you will be happy
real
dunno why relay station can’t pop up with lights out modifier in mission board lol
i did not ever had it because of RNG or maybe because it can’t be with lights out modifier which is sad. if it’s like that, then it’s weird that lights out can’t be applied to all maps but only certain ones.
I had hoped the same. I envisioned a mounted lamp on our Oggies.
I would love this. Some maps SHOULD be dark af but others should have residual lighting.
I was kinda disappointed that the Carnival with lights out wasnt eerily lit with the occasional neon sign flickering or a very soft glow down some streets, enough to cast shadows and maybe see a few dark silhouettes shuffling about.
Im fine with some areas of complete darkness where it suits and honestly I dont mind our terrible stock flashlight.
