it’s worse than hateful
it’s just
downright manipulative
i want to come home
and play a game
not come home to another full time job that’s always dangling a golden carrot that realistically you will never achieve
I have a deflector on my psyker…
But this is not a character I will really play a lot… Same for the vet…
Only zealot I really try to get good weapons
Welcome to the world of GaaS. There’s an entire industry around developing gotcha mechanics to attempt to squeeze cash out of people (with some of those companies working with Fatshark). The RNG is an intentional and critical part of said mechanics.
The game ISN’T about being a fun Coop horde shooter, if it was then there would’ve been totally different design decisions being made.
I got run and gun on a Psyker…twice…
One of them is on a staff…a flame staff…
I mean if I could get it for my zealot or my vet or hell even the Ogryn cool but…wtf am I going to do with a run and gun flame staff?
Tbh I feel like all my roll luck got spent on the flamer with show stopper, the pushback skill, and the 80% burn. I also have no confidence that the blessings aren’t going to just be character locked.
Honestly the gameplay loop is good and playing with friends is what is keeping if going because they are experiencing it for the first time but the RNG nature of it all is starting to wear down on the fun especially because a good portion of the people I play with have historically terrible luck.
The moment enough people I play with get bored with it the game is probably getting shelved for a year until a major update happens and I’m probably going back to Deep Rock, Payday 2, Risk of Rain, and likely Endless Dungeons when it comes out.
no announcement, read title someone asked.
btw its toxic people like you also, have fun
People with other things to do in their week.
You have to look at the positives. This Dev blog post is definitively adding at least dozens of thousands of hours to VT2 that might have gone to DT otherwise.
So…you will be providing more methods of getting crafting materials then, yes? When i barely get 200/200 of each per damnation mission, how am I supposed to be ugprading weapons when its like triple the plasteel cost to diamantine cost in crafting? 250 dia / 800 plasteel for purp to orange (3X)
Honestly, it’s like they don’t actually understand the core problem here. Even if all of the “issues” with the crafting system are fixed? It’s still going to be an awful system. The base crafting in and of itself is simply NOT GOOD. The RNG is NOT GOOD. It’s not fun, it’s not interactive, it’s not even as good as VT 1 or VT 2 and both had meh crafting as well. The crafting and RNG is not fun to do. And that counts for a lot when it comes to how much people are willing to do it. No one wants to stand at the store and buy the same weapon over and over in hopes of getting the perfect stat roles, that sucks! It’s boring! It’s NOT FUN. There is not a SINGLE piece of the current item progression system that should be kept in its current form.
The reality is they need to find a way to make it fun, interactive, and interesting. That’s part through animations and sound design, part through the results/what we get out of it, and part how the system actually works. Right now they’re failing in all three categories. Boring windows and a ton of clicking wherein we just go ‘retry, retry, retry’ is absolutely god awful. Blessings and Perks are, largely, boring. And the system itself is painful, not fun.
What we really need to see are options based around player agency, no RNG, and actual change/things that vary such as weapon attachments that change both how the weapons look and feel. Scopes, ammo types, magazine size, etc. I know Hedge was all hurr hurr this isn’t CoD, but honestly? Make it CoD in this aspect. It’d be way more interesting than what we have currently. Let us unlock attachments through use or research them with materials and then custom fit our own weapons to create what we want. The gacha style is NOT working and NOT good for player retention.
I have hundreds of hours in VT 1 and VT 2, and I want to love DT. I want to be able to support FS in what they do and put money into the game. But they’re making it SO hard. The gameplay itself is fun, but the crafting and basically every system around that is just… I’m sorry, but it’s kinda dogshit. There’s not a polite way to say that. It’s insane that it launched like this or that it got past any kind of review board, it’s like it didn’t pass through any actual gamer hands and was instead just c-suite nonsense based on some psychological profile of player retention and buzz words. That’s not going to fly.
People are leaving in droves. And I know this sort of thing takes time, but honestly, I’m not sure they have it. It can’t be delayed. People are unhappy, even their diehard supporters are unhappy. Item progression and crafting go hand in hand, and ultimately I think everyone needs to take a step back and focus on what’s actually FUN to interface with. Right now? It simply isn’t. And if the game isn’t fun, why am I playing?
That’s WITHOUT touching on all the other issues the game has! Things spawning the instant you’re not looking at a spot, things shooting through walls, the mission board existing AT ALL like it does, the class balance, the weapon balance… I can go on. But crafting and progression is what people are focused on right now, and rightly so.
So I guess tldr, if I had to boil my feelings down to a single sentence? I’m disappointed in Fatshark and I think they’d be further ahead to gut the system and start over.
That’s a strong problem here.
I hope they plan to do something about that or, as you say, we will run into problems
I must agree with what you said. I can live with the system we will get, however I play a lot Darktide.
And I must say that the FS choices are not friendly toward casual players and even normal players.
You’re right. From what we can see actually, this is not really fun to chain missions just to get enough plasteel to be able to craft a weapon and then find that you get garbage.
However, we don’t know yet what will be the costs they have chosen. I am a little anxious that they won’t make them compliant with all players… But we can hope. Also there are changes on Merk’ shop and emperor’s gift. We have to see the impact on the system. Also, now we will be able to replace a blessing… All of this can change the output…
If they maintain a system where you have to chain missions to get frustration at final, yes they will fail and the game will fail.
I will try to keep my hopes that the system will correct the actual problems… At least, I wait to test the system before condemn it.
The more I think about it, the more I lean towards not having locks on blessings. Mainly for the following scenario: You have a T4 blessing that you gleaned off of a “trash” weapon, and now you want to craft it onto your weapon of choice. You find a profane-tier weapon with a stat-spread to your liking, then upon upgrading from green->blue you obtain a t2 variant of the blessing you wanted. Now, you’re basically stuck with whatever blessing you roll on purple->orange if you really want to use the t4 blessing on said weapon.
example: Profane Catachan Combat Knife, Earned T4 “Lacerate” Blessing (in your pool of blessings that Hadron can use to re-bless).
- On consecrate green → blue, T2 “Lacerate” added to Combat Knife
- On consecrate purple → orange, T3 “Flesh Tearer” added to Combat Knife
Now this Combat Knife is somewhat in a weird spot. I’m either stuck upgrading “Lacerate” to T4, and having a sub-optimal second blessing that can be nullified by bleed stack caps, or I’m stuck with a T3 Flesh Tearer build that I wasn’t too keen on trying in the first place.
Probably not the best example, and I’m not discussing the merits of having “Lacerate” and “Flesh Tearer” together. I’m trying to point out a potential flaw in the re-bless system involving locks and rolling lower-tier variants of the blessing you want to use on a given weapon.
Yeah, it’s the same reason perk locks were so derided. With how large the potential roll pool with the perk/blessings and tiers and how many filler perks/blessings there are, most of the time it will be either choosing the less bad of two not good or outright bad choices… or starting again.
We were expecting a deep change to the crafting theoretical systems of the game, the hourly nature of the shop, etc.
What we got was EXACTLY the same thing as before with minor adjustments except now you can not improve a blessing.
So they actually removed some planned functionality.
It took them a month and a half to come to those decisions.
The hourly shop is still here.
They can keep my negative review on Steam for a long, long time.
What they posted show they did not listen one bit to the relevant feedback posts trying to improve the situation but stayed stubbornly on what sh***y mechanics around the gameplay they decided to begin with.
I had hope for a long time they would come to something reasonable, more refined and intelligent because, why not do that for your game.
But no, the deciders on the matter are a bunch of stubborn people not playing their own game who think they knew best all along.
We will now see the amount of people playing their game in the coming year.
I can live with the planned new system, sure if they balance it well (plasteel and diamantine problem). However, I cannot be agree with what you say. The majority said, only, that they wanted the crafting system.
Where I agree is that it took one month and half to decide to remove one feature. This is so ridiculous.
Now, they see how players consider the new features.
I did a poll that show that 50% of the player like the new system (I preferred fuse/combine…). This means that, despite the negative posts we see everywhere on this forum, the opinions of players toward the changes are mixed.
Tbh, i think they should take in consideration the negative feelings. However, they cannot remove the locks for perks / blessings cause they put that as a core feature of the game they want to build.
But, why not allowing us these changes?
- permit us to reroll 5 times the locked perk
- permit us to upgrade the locked blessing but forbid us to save it for further use
It’s not that ‘some’ degree of RNG is a bad thing, or even unexpected. It’s that there are far better systems on offer than the one they’ve put together.
There are several good things about the dev post. But even accounting for those improvements, you still have to get 1) a weapon with decent base stats that 2) has a decent stat distribution as well as 3) one good perk and 4) one good blessing and then 5) get the other blessing off another weapon.
It’s not that players simply want maxed out gear, or that they’re lazy. It’s that they want meaningful progression. Can you make a perfectly decent weapon with the current system? Sure. Is interacting with that system needlessly frustrating? Yes. Does it offer meaningful progression? For the most part, no. And when it does, it has very little to do with the time invested in the game and very much to do with blind luck.
Your poll had 32 voters…It literally means nothing.
I understand what you say… however my feeling was that we would not get so many people that vote that they prefer the new system.
And on this it means something for me… I was surprised of the result
Your poll was inherently flawed, since it only gave a choice between two bad systems. It didn’t ask the really important questions, which are about RNG and the perk and blessing locks. You’re basically just asking people which two horrible systems would they prefer, which is bound to have mixed answers, because neither system is in any way good.
Needing tons and tons of weapons with specific blessings to upgrade three 1 into three 2 into three 3 into finally one four is not a good system.
Never, ever getting 4 unless RNG magically happens to be on your side, is also not a good system.
The poll was not flawed… I asked if people like the change.
You can repeat in 300 posts you don’t like the RNG and the system they have put for Darktide… it won’t change anything cause they will ignore such post… because they want this system.
So instead of loosing time at asking something that will NEVER happen, I prefer to focus on things that could be changed.
But you’re free to continue to post your feelings on this forum. I tend to think that your opinion has been well understood.
