Ok, we have got the crafting "blog" post... my feeling, and yours?

It clearly has not been well understood by FatShark, which is the only important metric. But you’re probably right, they won’t change the RNG, which means the game has no future. So be it. If they want to tank the game and possibly their company by sticking to decisions that are obviously and patently bad, go for it.

In my opinion, it will depends of the balance they have decided for their system.
If we have difficulties to find plasteel (or diamantine maybe) to be able to craft things and that we have same odds than actually and, as a result, people run into frustration… yes they will clearly fail.
Maybe i am optimistic, but I tend to think that they did VT and VT2… they should succeed to not fail at this game. At least I hope…

It doesn’t matter what kind of balance they find for the crafting system, because it will still remain bad as long as the core of it belongs to the chaos god of RNG.

The absolutely best way forward, if Fatshark even cares about player agency and fun, would be a weapon/item progression tree, where you start with a grey item and upgrade it using a linear/branching progression tree, where it goes from a worse stage to a better stage and you are 100% in control of its progression.
Using materials strewn across the maps, collected from killing enemies and rewarded through mission completions, you upgrade your equipment with 100% predictability.
Blessings and perks would be merged with this system, but on a different upgrade window, where upgrading your weapon’s tier and adding blessings or perks is done separately, and perhaps with entirely different materials.
Using the same materials as with crafting, you should also be able to add attachments (that make sense) to your weapon at your liking, with 4 slots in total: Magazine, underbarrel, stock and sight.
At the ultimate tier (red) a weapon might have slots that can take two attachments at once, such as a laser sight and a grenade launcher together on the same underbarrel, or a long scope with a rangefinder on the sight slot.

With this system, you should also be able to craft skins for your equipment, for mostly the same materials. This would further support player retention as some might want to complete their collection of skins for their weapons and cosmetic garb.

This system of progression would give players something to plan for and work towards.
I get that Fatshark wants to force players to play more to get their perfect setup, but this kind of RNG system is honestly what drives people away from playing it once they’ve had enough bad rolls.

You realize that they won’t change 100% of the game…
You can dream of it, but it won’t happen

There will still be RNG in the game… Accept it…

Anecdotally I have never heard anyone say they don’t want shared progression among characters, and I have read a lot do want it.

Shared progression means you cannot spend 4 full days per week to have all 4 characters complete Melk! It would stop player agency! (And hurt the service industry providing treatment for gaming addictions.)

The reasoning why we cannot reroll all weapon perks and blessings is just beyond me.
Dear Fatsharks, in a world of breakpoints, unforgiving enemies and meticulously calculated builds there is no room for randomness. This isn’t Borderlands, it is WH40K.
I’ll check the forums from time to time, but I ran out of copium and have no good feeling about this game anymore.
Luckily, DRG and VT2 are still around.

I do… I would like to see shared blessings…

How can you miss it?
This is really simple.
If there is no lock, with just one weapon you get what you want. And that’s exactly what they don’t want.
And that’s why they won’t change that. They could adjust things, but they won’t change that. And that’s the reason I think it should be better to ask for things they could give us…

I don’t think you would just get what you want. 250 hours of playing and using the app watching the store I have not seen a single T4 deflector blessing. Nor a single exorcist blessing of any tier.

Blessing should be like over clocks from DRG maybe. I think After 1000 hours I should have all weapon types maxed out. That would be my expectation. Then I grind for cosmetics.

I am pretty sure that T4 are obtained only by consecrating / merk’s shop

For deflector (force sword), I have got mine at normal shop

It would also mean you would spend less time rolling curios since if they were shared you would need to roll 3 good ones vs 12 (or 15 if they actually come out with a new class any time within the year).

Tbh lack of shared progress feels terrible since almost every coop fps with a progression system has this because most developers actually want players to branch out and be able to use the resources acquired to try new things.

Not Fat Shark though (despite Vermintide 1 and 2 having this) they want your grind to be as long and miserable as they can potentially make it!

From the shop and melks I have seen 0 exorcists. From shop and melks I have seen 3 deflectors no higher than tier 2. I haven’t seen either come up while consecrating. After 250 hours plus a few weeks using the API to check during work (WFH).

See the messed up part is that about 250 hours in from working on my Psyker which was the 2nd serious character I started working on after 30) I rolled a sword with both exorcist 4 and the one that gives me more power on repeated weak spot hits.

It also rolled with basically perfect attributes too. The thing is I’ve played with people who played Psyker longer than me who have gotten nothing close because the system is pure rng.

It’s really a good thing I bought my staffs when I did too because the shop honestly looks more like a a Vet or Zealot shop every time I check it.

It’s frustrating because it’s pure luck, I had no agency I’m getting these rolls and I very easily found have went another 200+ hours getting nothing worthwhile.

The disconnect that both the devs and the people who like this seem to have is that most of their playerbase does not find this RNG satisfying even if they do get what they want, it’s just annoying.

Does anyone know if we will we able to break down our already gained weapon pool for the blessings?
Or
Will the blessings only be valid when gained from the new emperors gifts and store bought blessings after the update?

I assume current weapons will work, don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t.

I don’t think you can have higher tier than 2 at normal shop. Tier 3 is at melks & consecration

Don’t remember seeing tier 4 blessing in melk’s tho…

Indeed, so looking at some really stellar early access titles like Factorio, GTFO, or DRG, this could easily have been one of them as it is absolutely polished enough for an early access.

Many could haves here, but 40$ for an early access title… that has been done.

For deflector based on dark mass and what I have seen

I got a deflect with 0% block cost reduction
I got another with 5% block cost reduction

The max is apparently 15%

It seems it goes up by 5% each tier.

Yes, we all know that, as evidenced by thousands of posts. But we have to bear in mind that we might be Snowflakes and Crybabies that simply don’t appreciate the Vision.

Being able to upgrade blessings was the only thing that salvaged the system for me. Without that on the table, my desire to reinstall is even lower. Stumbling across T4 blessings is way too rare to remove an option to combine and upgrade them.
