Now that our cushy spot in The Carnival's final defense is gone, where are y'all defending at?

Me, my friend and two randoms just got our loyalist asses kicked there. Hi-Int Damnation, we tried to defend above the medicae station. Made it until the time to lit the flare, then the heretics overcame us. That was not a good spot, enemy spawned right in front of us and we were shot at from at least two sides.

Any suggestions? I’ve seen a way to cheese that place and return to the old spot but lets assume that I’m a goody two-shoe and don’t want to do that.

Top of the bleachers directly to either the right or left of the entrance to the arena works well enough if everyone keeps it together. This way you don’t have to worry about more than one flank. Just keep close to the wall to bait all the ranged units into melee range and you’ll be fine.

Honestly? Running around center to close gates, occasionally charging upstairs to meet gunner / shooter spawns. If you keep those gates closed and can handle the melee elite waves, the event is nothing folks can’t handle.

High position areas

  • You have height advantage for greater field of view of entire area
  • Easier to repeek fire over small fences at top by walking backwards it is 100% cover in itself
  • The top areas have more confined entry points to funnel in hordes
  • Hordes have to fight you uphill and slows them down

Centre is worst place.

I don’t know if center is optimal but my thought process is this;

I think it’s good to be proactive, especially on Damnation. That means getting on top of spawns so they don’t spread. If you do let them spread while bunkering up, you can run into OP’s situation. Being proactive and pushing (even a lil bit) also makes space to retreat if you get overwhelmed. Otherwise you can get freight trained trying to hold ground.

Center, nearer to the walls obv, is the best for this. You can rotate around to deal with threats, make little pushes upstairs to kill waves, and dip over to the gates to close them when they open.

I love that they took away that choke point. Finale felt very braindead, now it’s more dynamic :smiley:

Defend and kill heretics straight from the source, at spawn locations.

Idk I just moved around the map.
Wasn’t that hard and like the change really didn’t like everyone hunkerd down in one spot cheezing it while spamming the ping at the entrance.
The end event is acctualy fun now and not a boring “funnle all the mobs in to the meatgrinder”
But it was the same when the map was new and guess there will be a cheeze spot soon enough and everyone will stand there and make the event boring again

What is the deal with the gates exactly?

There’s two gates on ground level that open when the event starts. While they’re open, trash hordes spawn and flood out of them. You can close them to stop those spawns and make the event easier. They re-open automatically after a minute or two so you need to keep closing them. They then close automatically and permanently after you signal for extract with the flare.
