End Event for HL-70-04 Changes - Review (Carnival)

Overall, I like it.

The new Drop to the end event doesn’t change much IMO. Playing in pubs, the team still found a new corner to defend in. The squad I played with chose the stairs immediately to the left and stayed there until extract.

As we all know, in the last version of this event, a strategy was discovered because a lot of wipes happened when it first came out. Players adapted and discovered an approach that had a high success rate.

Why not keep both variants?

The narrative leads us to believe we have to go back to continue to fight back these areas for Atoma. This can be an opportunity to have slight changes, nothing big, a barrel moved or a vehicle burnt to cinders, the old version of the map. Maybe there is a dead squad who failed to extract or Medicade is on the other side. Players will pick up on the little things!

How does the community like these changes? Have a chance to drop in to the new arena?

They could shake up finales a lot more still. The new map’s finale seems to have a few different objectives and each run you do 3 of them. I’ve seen 4 so far: calibrate capacitors, flip breakers, place batteries, and break ice to raise platform.

Yes, the new map has 3 events that trigger in different orders each time. I think Carnival can benefit from a festive spectacle and rotating events.

  • Slaanesh’ing booth
  • Wheel of Ranald

OK, now that I’ve got that out of my system… I also like the idea that the maps can be subtly different each time – it would make players think on their feet a bit more!
