Funny video:

like with everything else, my home, my castle, my timeline.
ignore the temporary idiocracy, stay in the 80s and be content ![]()
got even “a few” 80s flicks in UHD for cheap, so I’m good for quite some time even when not gaming ![]()
Recons will continue until moral improves… if it can be retconned one way it can be retconned back!
some proper and fitting sisters of silence for example are more than welcome and feel genuine to the universe, as well as looking the part.
same as female astra militarum, cause meat for the grinder need no specials.
female hive ganger early artwork ![]()
that’s the difference to whatever abomination currently tries to make itself a thing.
but like I said, I decide what makes it into figures at home and what part of 40k I deem canon, no one else.
there aint more than 2 terminator movies or 3 star wars as well…. all is good and as it should be ![]()
40k lore changes all the time (Marines for example are vastly different today from their original inception), I genuinely don’t get the issue with female Custodes, they never had hard lore like Marines stating they must be male, and for the bulk of the IP’s existence weren’t much more than mythic legend, without tabletop rules or models and minimal lore representation.
Want the original Custodes from the 80s?
BAM. Shirtless, with Eldar Guardian-esque helmets, padded codpieces, tight pants, and capes, looking like something Tom of Finland or Rex might be into, or extras from “300”.
This was all there was to Custodes until a Horus Heresy card game and coffee table art book came out ~20 years later, and then took several more years and a couple more tabletop editions before the current look and models had any tabletop representation.
These are the only correct custodes.
That spear has a built-in lasgun, watch your step!
expanding on an established lore is one thing, trying hard to achieve a “quota” based on external shenanigans are another matter.
one feels in touch with the universe the other like something intruding from the outside one tries to get away from spending one’s time with the hobby in the first place.
their “first try” in the 80s as far as I remember was buried pretty quick way back when, seeing their customers rejecting the figures, so much for the “real life” part.
the “and somehow palpatine survived” crude take it or leave it aint something I consider even being a thing when it comes to what I pick from 40k
well they look the part so no objections here.
some 3d models willing i’m more than interested getting some 80s space marine artwork in mcfarlane figure form ![]()
they got a fitting aestethics on their own.
Agree.
Jar Jar…
Man, I’m tired of the astroturf culture war. Going both ways. One side does something super cringey and stupid, then the other side can’t stop vomiting rage over it. Just an endless cycle.
I actually, and personally, wanted female Space Marines… but not like what they did it.
I expected them to find some technology that allows to easily make female marines.
Female marines are not made because the probabilty of success on the process was too low.
At least it said the canon.
Also the Emperor was asked about having female marines, he laughed a lot… he is a nice guy… not much.
But like Index said, forcing the Lore is… not nice.
(BTW, I don’t like Primaris neither).
Sure, I totally get that, but in the Custodes case I guess I’m just not seeing where it’s the latter instead of the former. The RT era art and models are male, but also a…really leather bar Rob Halford vibe, consisting entirely of 2 models and 2-3 pieces of art (one of which just shows helmets and pikes).
Looking at the Horus Heresy Collected Visions book, the Custodes aren’t described in gendered terms anywhere, aren’t described as a “Brotherhood” or “Fraternity”, or anything like that, that all came in basically 8th edition IIRC, and still didn’t have hard lore like Marines do about their physiology, to me it’s a minor retcon at best in 10th edition, if really a retcon at all (I feel like the first Custodes codex mostly reads basically like copy-pasta Space Marine lore with “Astartes” CTRL-H’d with “Custodes”), certainly much less than the total visual reboot 20+ years later and then several years later suddenly having them be a faction that now leaves Terra and goes out into the galaxy and does stuff.
It’s infinitely less upsetting (to me at least) than the Primaris garbage that affected not only lore and (stupid) naming conventions (intercessor, inceptor, infernus, infilitrator, incursor, OMG STOP WITH THE “I” NAMES) but the whole tabletop paradigm of what Marines were supposed to be (replacing generalist units sporting mixed armaments that could do multiple things with single-purpose uniformly armed units like Eldar Aspect Warriors).
I think it was more that they weren’t really intended to go anywhere to begin with, they didn’t have much lore, they weren’t really an army, they were just a couple art pieces. GW made lots of one-offs and the game was almost more of an RPG back then (you were supposed to have a GM set up the game and design the forces and arbitrate the rules for the two players) with tons of models made that really were only ever for giggles, the RT era custodes models didn’t even ever get rules as far as I can recall.
Some of the 80’s HR Geiger-esque artwork of marines could look absolutely stunning in that form today for sure.
tourist me only ever read about the sons of terra nobles, so that’s what was the “source” to recruit from for so long why chance it now?
given the rugged nature of 40k’s universe (which is a great deal of its appeal in the first place, one felt right at home in a pleasant dystopia
)
one would guess given the limited amount of nobles the males be used for fighting, the females for breeding
and not an all in no further offspring remains.
but that’s my canon anyways, like I said I pick my pieces from 40k to enjoy and don’t really acknowledge the rest, makes for a pretty relaxed enjoyment of the universe that’s as dark and bloodthirsty as I ever want it ![]()
been dipping my toes into daemonculaba and dark eldar torture, these guys seem pretty “inventive and creative” ![]()
oddly enough, at first glance, I hated “beakies”.
lo and behold some boltgun hours and 2 john blanche army painter boxes later
seems to be a project for the near future.
something about the man’s use of color thats instantly appealing, haven’t used the 100something other army painter bottles since ![]()
If I buy some Custodes and put the female heads on them, does that count as sexual violence against men?
Say yes
human centipede 2 ?
yep
Let’s be real: Players can spend a lot of time painting, and a little time playing, but that still leaves hours – literally hours – each and every day not filled with Warhammer. Filling that gap: Complaining about crappy rules, complaining about crappy lore.
GW isn’t a game company. GW isn’t a models company.
GW is a disappointment company.
Abundant. Monetized. Forever.
What? No… let them fight
I don’t really mind them changing lore its just how they did it…I’d think Chaos would be really into it but… I’m not much invested either… It just fun to post rage clips
Never talk about that again.
