New cheat mod on nexus

you created mods to see and hear better, so you are a cheater @gpkgpk
with lessannoyingfx and ping

but this is another subjective opinion

at the end of the day it, it’s all subjective what you think is “cheat”
other people could think that your mod is cheating, since it disables visual effects to see better, and replacing ping sound to hear better and to not get distracted.
you can call it QoL, others cheats.

great famous “clutch” mods you have there.

no, that’s objectively a cheat. it’s enabling you information you would not normally have. i get the mod community for fatshark’s games have always been the “it’s not cheating because it’s co-op!” copium crowd but honestly the cheats in darktide have been obvious and really only enabled toxic players to be more hostile to normal players.

Because these things are not equal and please stop saying it like they are.

No, it’s not. It’s for deaf people to use (Spidey Sense). Abusing it by some other people don’t make it bad. It’s great mod for these that can’t hear since game is based on audio clues. I don’t really see how making game accessibale for disabled people is bad.

Spidey Sense is just a visual representation of sound cues. When specialists spawn in, they make distinct sounds that signal their arrival, which come from their location. They also make sounds as they move, and even before they attack. Spidey Sense replicates this by providing a visual cue for what the sound design is already meant to convey.

That’s why calling this mod a ‘cheat’ is subjective—it’s not doing anything the game’s sound design isn’t already intended to do. It’s crucial for players with hearing impairments, and convenient for those, like myself, who play loud music and can’t hear in-game sounds. (Here’s a clip to show what I mean: I couldn’t even hear my own Ogryn speak until the music cut off for a moment.) For most players without hearing impairments who use it, they probably do so because they got frustrated with the bugged sound design—just like I did when I got tired of silent trappers.

Thank you, I was going to link it here but I was out doing groceries, you saved me the trouble. Please include the whole context instead of cherry picking it to make yourself feel better. Go back and find the other people complaining about photo-sensitivity.

It’s an accessibility mod pure and simple for people with photo-sensitivity. DT crippled me for 24-36 hours in the past due to all the high contrast, flashing and strobing effects, and at least 1-2 more users here complained about it so I shared them with them. Headaches and eye strain are far more common.
Why do YOU hate those with photo-sensitivity?

Note only the flashing, strobing, sparkling trail is gone?

Accessibility and health hazards is something I always took seriously in my SW dev career, and have gone out of my way to support, time permitting.
Please tell me how how I hate people with impairments?

You can keep straw-manning and false-equiv all you want, but you guys know full well why 99% of you are using radars and wallhacks.

Every time a special appears on mod radar, someone drowns a kitten, why do you hate kittens?

P.S. LOL ping? To prevent OTHERS from flooding you with left-click spam sounds? OTHERS griefing you? I wear it with a badge of honor. Notice there’s an option in-game to turn it off? You’re welcome BTW, feel free to link it.

P.P.S. Notice who is liking your posts

Irrelevant, pve game I do wot I wahnt.

On a lights-out mission no less?
You think this helps your case?
Wow…just wow.

Uh, WHAT!? Wow…just wow.

You can’t see the forest for the trees. I’m playing music—what many would consider obnoxiously loud—to the point where I can’t hear anything, in a lights-out mission, which effectively makes me both deaf and blind. And you mean to tell me, with a straight face, that you still can’t see how punishing such a mode would be for people who are actually deaf, not just momentarily impaired by loud music?

This video proves how beneficial and practical the mod is for the hearing impaired, especially when you consider that my ability to hear in-game audio was impaired through a self-inflicted choice. Now imagine if that wasn’t a choice. The fact that you’re missing this point makes me wonder if you’re more focused on keeping your perception of ‘fairness’ intact than actually considering the people who genuinely need this.

It was an example about “subjective vs objective” because by using your logic, people with no photo-sensitivity issues, so healthy people with no problem, can use your mods to have visual advantages. something that is far from the original vision of devs as intended.

Since you were doing the argument “if you are not impaired, and you use x mod then you are cheating” which is just no sense honestly. Especially considering FS is OK with it.

wrong assumption. see above. and i remember FS putting by their own bad vfx for surge staff, a real health issue because of epilepsy

told you that I don’t even use spidey sense, but i’m not against it as concept mod.

it’s not about that, it’s just that you hate for no reason people with no health issues, just because they are using those mods.

keyword here is “turn it off”, meanwhile your mod “replaces it”
which is different, you either have OFF or ON, instead your mod just makes a replacement to hear better and not get distracted by the spam. which is understandable, but someone could argue (just like you are doing) that it can be abused as cheat mods. or like you say, the clutch mods people use to play better.

i don’t care who is liking my post, because i’m not someone thats striving to get likes from people. unlike someone here

and you can also do this you as well.

My god…the lack of self-awareness is astounding.
“I chose to BLAST my music so I use radar”
“I chose to play a lights-out mission where the intent is to make things less visible but I work around the difficulty modifier by using radar”.

Oh, the irony. You accuse me of a lack of self-awareness, but you’ve completely missed the point. I’m demonstrating how, by blasting loud music, I intentionally impaired myself to show how disorienting it can be for those who are actually hearing-impaired—people who don’t have the luxury of turning down the volume or switching it off.

As for the lights-out mission, the entire purpose was to highlight how Spidey Sense helps compensate when both hearing and visibility are compromised, which is exactly the challenge faced by those who have disabilities. But rather than grasping the core argument, you’re fixated on the fact that I chose to simulate these conditions.

Maybe some self-awareness is in order on your end before you continue throwing accusations.

you are probably using weapon customization to put “flashlights” in your ogryn, in lights out modifier
is it a cheat this as well? or because it’s bad game design

just like specials not emitting their sound cue because of bugs, and problems with the game that can’t handle to reproduce properly sound cues. for example silent trappers etc. because of issues within the game.

Exactly, others are forcing you to turn off useful features by griefing you, my mod prevents them from abusing you and forcing you to do that.
Why do you hate that?
Why do you hate kittens?

Because it crosses the line into cheat territory maybe?

Hey, as long as I have you on the horn, should I use radar because I chose to blast the Metallica Black album while I play?
Should I use the radar to circumvent lights out difficulty modifier that I chose?

Vastly blown out of proportion, used as an excuse by those looking to cheeze and cheat, the ones you’re white knighting for.
I bet these are the same people who didn’t spend 5 minutes properly configuring their setups.

I mean I’m not, I know you’re trying to bait me with a gotcha, but I consider using it it cheezing it.

if this was the case, FS would have took action. which it didn’t because luckily Fatshark knows what’s cheating or not.

it’s not a radar, since it’s a visual representation of what you can actually hear.

i guess you are saying things just for the sake of it, without even really trying to discuss it in a civil matter, but with a bad attitude.

there are actual problems in the game where sounds are not reproduced, because in certain spots sound don’t get reproduced normally.
not sure what you mean by that.

No, it’s not.
It’s a radar representation of sound events in the location and frequency where they occur, complete with angle and distance.
“Play this sound for this mob here” as the game understands it before any sound processing is done, not what you’d hear; radar.

In a couple of minutes I could tweak it even further for an even better radar mode. It’s using the “hit indicator” material/texture as the indicator, with more options if you’re using some self-host capabilities. 1 line alone with instructions in plain sight that any script kiddie can tweak too.
You can look at the LUA yourself, it’s not complicated,

Just wanna add that splitting the realms into un/modded straight-up would kill my region which has relatively low player count.

Best way to do it probably is to add a toggle for users to decide if they want to match make with modded clients, much like cross-play toggle (which for some reason PC players don’t have but Xbox players do…).

Not that I think they should necessarily do this… I’m not convinced that there are that many people being oppressed by modders that it’s actually such a massive issue for the playerbase.

Maybe if there were overhaul mods and the like, double spawns and what-have-you. But we’re not really in that situation — for the most part we are all playing the same game where it counts!

that’s something external, where it implies a malicious user editing the mod to gain real advantages.

i won’t because i don’t need. but you could say this about any existing mods. if you edit mods to cheat, it’s on that person. not the mod itself, where the purpose itself of this particular mod, is to help impaired people of all types.

I knew that the whole topic would turn into a “Mods are Cheats”-thing…

It’s just the same BORING sAht over and over again.
