New Auric isn't good

The regular missions, including Auric, might just be a tutorial for intermediate players at this point, and the deves may be trying to push advanced players and beyond to play Havoc instead.

It’s truly disappointing that there’s no longer a mode that’s moderately challenging and easy to jump into, especially when you only have time to play one or two matches due to other commitments.
Judging from how Havoc has been adjusted since it was introduced, it really seems like they want it to become the new version of Auric, rather than keeping it as a niche mode for a small group of advanced players.

the thing between havoc and maelstrom, while havoc in a proper equally skilled group can be fun, playing with randoms they fkk up constantly.

so i naturally prefer a mode where i can control the outcome mostly myself, sure if i fail to dodge a net thats on me still most randoms are too daft to get you out before the situation tilts.

anyways, seeing them lemming away and still brute force the game to a win is much more exiting for me, cause its my influence after all.

havoc being 2 steps forward, book/bubble, one step back, does work but the pace of a game with inexperienced randos is far less exiting for me personally, rather a slog that drags on for the wrong reasons.

every so often i find a fluent team that works together mute and flawlessly, but thats 1 in 30 or so.

premades aint my prefered way of playing either.
only so often you can watch the same peeps play over and over before it gets stale.

i prefer to get the chaotic element in my content to keep things fresh.

Since Julia’s response, a Tzeentchian voice in the back of my mind started whispering this idea.

I truly, desperately hope this isn’t the case. Darktide dies to me if that is what happens and Auric stays as it is now.

I enjoy Havoc game play, but I am not putting up with the song and dance of starting a match as it currently exists. My time will be spent elsewhere.

You sure about this? There is still an Auric Mael always available for me. The new board just doesn’t help finding it at all since everything jumps around.

This is just from opening, closing, and opening the mission board:

Did you do the campaign? I skipped and never was missing one.

But yeah, lots of little things are off right now, so it’s no surprise if this was a bug too.

after playing for around 1600 hours, i can surely say its not for the story

so yeah i skipped to 30 as fast as i could in the hopes of at least recording auric maelstrom footage the same day

I’ll just link my post from another thread here for the purpose of collecting feedback here:

Auric is boringly easy now after this update

Playing current Auric has me at times go “Where are the enemies” which is really weird since it’s Auric the game should be non-stop spamming specials and elites even when no horde is active.

I’d assume since they made Auric it’s own difficulty instead of a modifier to Heresy/Damnation It’d be around the same difficulty or maybe a bit more difficult but it just sort of feels like regular damnation to me.

I’m starting to worry that the rising theory may be true. That by removing sedition and auric heresy, they have just bumped everything down a level to make room on one mission board page.

Perhaps I’ve just been lucky or not paying close enough attention:

I know I am pretty late to the party, but you are correct
Every difficulty feels scaled down by one, also Seduction difficulty was removed, or am I missremembering stuff
Maybe that’s why everything feels so much easier…

Every Auric Inferno + HI-STG I joined were always pretty brutal from what I noticed.

I wonder if it’s limited to just that modifier.

Stuff should usually not feel easier than you remembered it in a game like Darktide, after you took a break.

The standard reaction of people coming back after a patch is: “WHY IS EVERYONE AROUND ME ALWAYS DEAD!11!!”

This is very much not the case for me. I have been playing non-stop since Unlocked and Loaded and have been exclusively A5+Maels for the last ~4+ months. This was an immediate feeling between the day before and day of the update, so something is wrong, even if I don’t have anything but vibes to prove it.

You may be on to something. Just ran one inferno event and it felt right.
What the implications of that are remains to be seen.

In a bit of good news, finally tried new Mortis and Auric is properly juiced. Felt it on the first wave and was not disappointed as it moved along.

Downside being, with only a sample size of 1, the new server issues seemed worse and more frequent in that mode for whatever reason.
