The only thing that bricks my PC is the Box of Hurt, which has been that way since it’s inception and I have no idea what’s keeping them from optimizing it. I literally don’t take the +3 upgrade on any build as you already stutter the hell out of your game with just the first 6, let alone another 3. I pretty much entirely use it to cause lag in order to do clutch revives while the enemies can hardly move and to otherwise lower the threat of a dense wave by lowering the frames. But I really shouldn’t be banking on bricking the game as a ‘feature’ of my grenade xD.
The Rumbler/Nuke has never caused issues for me though, they all function fine. Though I will say I have yet to touch Mortis Trials (have been having to much fun making and testing Ogryn Builds in Auric so that I can test if they ‘actually function’ instead of playing an easy game mode that literally just hands you wins with bonus effects on top of our already busted characters in ‘already easy af’ Damnation difficulty max, so haven’t had a reason to walk into it yet). But I can imagine the effects there absolutely shattering mid/to low tier PC’s kneecaps and that is unfortunate.
But the base nads themselves shouldn’t be causing a problem, I don’t need mods but a quick look up had this one pop up
and it might work for you/help? This two based on Danny’s comment, though it seems Psyker specific, but was updated update day so even more likely to work!
Beyond that, I’d just take a look at your settings. I know I use this video from a decent bit back now as a ‘good baseline’, and then raise it up from there until the game looks decent but still runs well. For example I set lighting quality to Medium as the game looks like a potato otherwise but still looks pretty crisp, while also still keeping all the ‘Blood Decals/Gibbing/Enemy Wounds/Ragdoll Interaction’ on as well because ‘this just isn’t darktide if my enemies aren’t flying around and showing their damage visually’. To that end though, I have the Lifetime/Max Blood Decals/and Max Weapon Impact Decals set to their minimum value, while setting Max Ragdolls to 10 (as with this number I never noticed an enemy I hit not flying away, but wouldn’t have to worry about my friends enemies bricking my PC).
Those would all be the main things I’d look at, along with the general performance stuff like ‘did you make ABSOLUTELY sure in the games settings that Ray tracing is off? and did you turn fullscreen back on as per this Fullscreen Optimisations are not enabled for Darktide (fix included) and follow the other threads instructions if you’re an AMD user?’
