Ill do my part and throw Rocks.
F them, send nukes
thats an awful take.
i get a stable 80+ fps everyone mourningstar and most missions at any given point regardless of density which then drops to 40 the second that an ogryn throws a grenade box.
arent you the guy that screams about freedom of speech in the forum of a swedish company because they dont let him name operatives names of dictators?
Is the guy who did the mod “Let me see” still active?
Would rather devs hot fix this but a mod bandaid until then would be nice, too.
The only thing that bricks my PC is the Box of Hurt, which has been that way since it’s inception and I have no idea what’s keeping them from optimizing it. I literally don’t take the +3 upgrade on any build as you already stutter the hell out of your game with just the first 6, let alone another 3. I pretty much entirely use it to cause lag in order to do clutch revives while the enemies can hardly move and to otherwise lower the threat of a dense wave by lowering the frames. But I really shouldn’t be banking on bricking the game as a ‘feature’ of my grenade xD.
The Rumbler/Nuke has never caused issues for me though, they all function fine. Though I will say I have yet to touch Mortis Trials (have been having to much fun making and testing Ogryn Builds in Auric so that I can test if they ‘actually function’ instead of playing an easy game mode that literally just hands you wins with bonus effects on top of our already busted characters in ‘already easy af’ Damnation difficulty max, so haven’t had a reason to walk into it yet). But I can imagine the effects there absolutely shattering mid/to low tier PC’s kneecaps and that is unfortunate.
But the base nads themselves shouldn’t be causing a problem, I don’t need mods but a quick look up had this one pop up
and it might work for you/help? This two based on Danny’s comment, though it seems Psyker specific, but was updated update day so even more likely to work!
Beyond that, I’d just take a look at your settings. I know I use this video from a decent bit back now as a ‘good baseline’, and then raise it up from there until the game looks decent but still runs well. For example I set lighting quality to Medium as the game looks like a potato otherwise but still looks pretty crisp, while also still keeping all the ‘Blood Decals/Gibbing/Enemy Wounds/Ragdoll Interaction’ on as well because ‘this just isn’t darktide if my enemies aren’t flying around and showing their damage visually’. To that end though, I have the Lifetime/Max Blood Decals/and Max Weapon Impact Decals set to their minimum value, while setting Max Ragdolls to 10 (as with this number I never noticed an enemy I hit not flying away, but wouldn’t have to worry about my friends enemies bricking my PC).
Those would all be the main things I’d look at, along with the general performance stuff like ‘did you make ABSOLUTELY sure in the games settings that Ray tracing is off? and did you turn fullscreen back on as per this Fullscreen Optimisations are not enabled for Darktide (fix included) and follow the other threads instructions if you’re an AMD user?’
If what “we wanted” was an enormously OP braindead build, mission accomplished. Ogryn is obviously overtuned in Havoc right now.
Better an over buff than an over nerf, but Ogryn can’t stay as it is indefinitely. Whining about the DS seems funny in comparison to the unadulterated cheese that is Newgryn.
No nerfs to the Ogryn just because of your pc, Calling for Fatshark to optimize their game would be a less selfish move and one I could get behind.
I’ve not had any issue in the mortis trials with Ogryn’s popping nades, sometimes waves of dogs can cause me jank so I guess Fatshark needs to nerf them. For that matter trappers still shooting through corners and other in game props is something that should have been delt with along time ago.
While I’ll agree there should be options to mute effects (though off by default) I can say that my 5+ year old PC and video card do not have any of the OPs reported issues. I’d first look at video drivers, game settings or maybe some upgrades. Asking FS to nerf things because your PC can’t handle things, well …
No to Ogryn nerfs it seems like an optimization issue on your hardware
how can my buddy (4090) and me (4080) optimize an issue, given it only happens at certain situations, DOESNT affect the displayed framerate is in 144fps===>40fps but stutters what feels like missing feedback is coming in server side?
all the while latency still shows between 30-50
not that i play mortis often and the only other “real” map that i saw it happen once was excise vault end part… so i can “live with it”
still, usually i buy a new rig every 2 years out of habbit, but with the toasty 5090 and the measly 18%increase to 5080 from my 4080 for 1500€ i rather spend my money on figures.
so whats the “hardware” issue here?!?
side anecdote:
modded skyrim yesterday again for the longest time, maximum carnage an excellent gore mod messes with the lame ingame finishers.
since i prefer smashing their brains out compared to just tossing em to the floor, i chose a MOD to disable the ingame stuff altogether.
issue solved, happy gorehound here.
simple toggle in the options, just as limited ragdolls, limit explosion sources.
set boom to … 3,5 and the problems done client side.
IF it still stutters we got proof fs servers are donkeyass
So he was made inline with the other classes
Nah, its fun as hell. If anything they should add more perks like that for other class nades. I remember doing house rules grenade only maps on shooters back in the day where the only weapon any player could use was the grenades they spawned with and it was just a cacophony of nonsense that could literally bug out the games audio and break it if all 32-64 players were in one place and it was fun as hell.
These modes aren’t meant to be taken seriously, its just absurdism for the sake of fun. Take the stick out and enjoy it.
I think you could have used a different title here, your post isn’t so much about nerfing ogryn as it is about fixing performance issues. I think allowing players to tune down explosions without mods is a fine idea.
The billion Ogryn grenades going off makes me laugh. I’ll take the 20 fps that comes with it.
Ogryn likes a BIG BOOM!
