Mr E’s latest video

Ummm uhhh okay glad to see you’ve seen our point of view

Top comments really are the average 40k power gamers. “Its lore accurate” if the plasma gun was this easy to use and this powerful with literally 0 downsides I think the imperium would have won all 40 thousand warhammers by now.

i don’t really know anything about Fatshark’s internal affairs, so this is just speculation, but over the past few years, it feels like there have been changes, devs and designers moving on, new people coming in, and the classic combat system, design, and balance that Fatshark built up are all starting to head in a strange direction.

maybe the reason we haven’t seen any new enemies or bosses added is because the people who laid the foundation for Darktide no longer work at Fatshark?

No. The lore is plasma weapons are canonically incredibly powerful, but they are basically forgotten tech from the Dark Age of Technology the Imperium have all but forgotten how to mass produce:

While incredibly destructive plasma weapons are a mostly lost technology from the standpoint of the contemporary Imperium of Man, seen as relics of another age. Their workings are a mystery for the most part, and only a select few circles of the Adeptus Mechanicus know how to construct them. Even among the Space Marine Chapters these weapons are considered uncommon, with the Dark Angels maintaining the largest inventory and the knowledge necessary to construct more; Space Marine plasma weapons also use hydrogen in higher quantum state than standard models, pushing the limits of their own resilience. Most existing plasma weapons are hundreds if not thousands of years old and those few new ones constructed are done so individually, requiring extensive blessing and rituals by the Machine God before use.

I didn’t think a plasma gun that tickles you when it starts to overheat and you vent the enormous amount of heat is ‘lore accurate’

Well at least you have your explanation for it’s power and why the Imperium hasn’t won it’s 40K warhammers yet. :+1:

Yeah it’s weird to see him sort of 180 in the space of a week.

No we only need buffs

See these people here who disagree with me are wrong havoc is fatshark priority they’re afraid of nerfing so they should buff things for havoc

Nerf plasma gun

I did almost point out a 2month old video of his saying Havoc was a mistake… but now i just did -.-
…also i didn’t watch so shame on me believing thumbnails.

It almost like he will say things and turn on a dime for views or just to put out ideas rather than maintain a solid stance, that’s most media tho.

That there’s a major downside to deploying PG’s isn’t just a big part of the lore, it’s a big part of what makes them fun.

It annoys me when WH40K is described as a “war game.” I know what war games are - there’s a big paper map full of tiny details, a relatively thin but very carefully written rule book full of tiny details, and 499 little cardboard counters where there should be 500.

WH40K - if you can peel away at least a decade of bloat - is a surprisingly solid but kooky miniatures game where you roll a buttload of 6siders and then everybody shouts … sometimes because your PG just blew up.

funny how he repeats the general opinion of the mass, without providing actually any insights for why it is strong etc.

also he doesn’t even talk about the cancel speed reload animation, which is one of the other things that actually make it strong.

I’m playing an Imperium Maledictum TTRPG campaign with some rl friends atm, and at our latest adventure an enemy NPC overcharged his plasma gun and blew himself up (missed the player character). Mind you, if the shot had hit a player there’s a good chance it would have been a 1shot kill.

Another enemy npc brought out a flamer and it blew up in his face too so his body caught fire. He spent the next three rounds failing all his dexterity checks, rolling around on the ground screaming before his light burned out (heh).

The first time I GM’d a Dark Heresy game, the Psyker player rolled Psychic Phenomena on their first psychic power they’d ever cast. Then on the PP roll they came up with Perils of the Warp, and subsequently summoned a Daemonhost

Burned a fate point, failed forward and moved on, but Pskyers had so many opportunities to kill themselves in that system

Had another campaign that resulted in a TPK when the player’s Chimera heavy bolter’d an Ork to death as it climbed onto the tank, detonated all its grenades, penetrated the armor, and killed everyone inside.

That said, different depictions will portray things differently. In tabletop 40k, Plasma Guns have often been as likely to kill users as enemies, often resulting in them being 1 shot weapons. In a game with 5 turns and that may only represent a minute or two of actual combat, and where they may only get to shoot once or twice anyway, not a huge deal. Likewise, your Psyker killing themselves on a bad Perils of the Warp roll (with older editions at least) with a 1/12 chance wasn’t too bad when you might only cast two or three times a game. In Darktide where players may shoot hundreds of times and the combat is real time and may last 20-40 minutes, Plasma Guns blowing up super often and Psykers summoning Warp Entities and constantly popping their own heads once every dozen casts probably wouldn’t be much fun.

Is it really that big of a deal?

Talking about the class that has weapon specialist and I am high key not ready for that conversation

i’d much more like SM1 version on how it behaves even if in that game was kinda weak

well you have to give it to the man, youtube is for clickbait, i don’t think that title was supposed to be 100% what he meant

I NEVER SAID WE ONLY NEED BUFFS!
Buffs are simply the preferable course, since i know fs is scared to nerf. I made two videos highlighting the weapons that are in need of updating, and this one to point out the impossible standards that weapons will have to reach if the outliers aren’t reined in.

I did something similar in the past with shout/executioners/infiltrate, pointing out how if the goal is parity between the abilities, fs HAS to nerf shout as it would be impossible to make the other two abilities as good without them being absurd.

I have an agenda with these vids, i want to have more weapons and abilities in the A/B tier, which means S tier needs to come down, and C tier needs to come up. But i am also a realist and know that fs is much more likely to take the buff path than the nerf one, so i talked about the buffs first because if i have to pick just one for fs to focus on it would be that.

Next i will be talking about the vet class as a whole, and calling for buffs! Dont let that alarm you, because i also believe that shout needs a big nerf at the same time.

There’s exceedingly few C or F tier weapons

You CAN’T be serious :joy: You’re literally judging a book by its cover! Do you think… maybe if you watched the video, it would explain what i mean by the thumbnail?

And then… hold on, because i know this might seem crazy… if you watched the OTHER video where i seem to have changed my mind… maybe it would explain what changed my mind?

It’s ALMOST like some huge update to havoc came out and i gasp CHANGED MY OPINION?

Nah, youre probably right, im a clout goblin who holds no opinions of my own, and just says whatever i think will get me more views! Thats why i cover darktide, the worlds most popular game!

I cant blame you for being annoyed @Mister_E

Strawmen are easy to burn which is why lots of people naturally build them.
