Hmmmm at the very least a ds and plasma gun nerf would gone over well along with making ogyrn buffed for the game that passed him by a year ago.

But fs a squandered that opportunity

I have heard from multiple sources who worked alongside or within fs during the pre patch 13 era that the review bombing that resulted from the power sword nerfs actually steered design choices from there on. I think theres a chance that a “no big nerfs” policy still guides them, they are scared of how quick the community can be to anger.

so just watched the video and i don’t agree that the devs meant to make this game goes full arcade and giving pleyers superpowers

why would they nerf survivalist again two patches ago then

i think the dev team that was left to curate this game still havn’t got a clue on what they are doing, and they just gave up on balancing their game after coming to term that they screwed it up in patch 13

about your arguments i think they are flawed with the lack of consideration of the classes capabilities

most of your arguments in the first 10 minutes of the video were true only for the Veteran class, both zealot and psyker can just bring whatever they want on their ranged slot at least, because they have more than one tool to get the job done, and they can make the decision to bring a toy gun to perform very specific tasks

they don’t need the ‘‘overpowered’’ weapons that can do all jobs, even if its fair that they are allowed to choose them of course, and still look pretty in the scoreboard

but this can’t be said for veteran, the class design is that he uses guns better (even though after patch 13 its not the case anymore)

and even for Vet, since exec stance is so abandoned there are less and less players that actually knows how guns can behave on this game

and before you ask, no, i’m not willing to discuss melee weapon balance

However, we have reached a point where the spawns cannot be increased (sounds cue problem), where the number of weapons useful is terribly restricted and where the too weak weapons cannot compete at all with others. But if we empower everything to the DS level, then the game won’t be interesting. And if you empower every ranged weapon to the PG level, same.
I wonder if I don’t need a pause with this game… the best would be to find a all days game to replace darktide. Because no balance, no solo game mode… things look bad in my eyes.
And to say the least, I prefer solo game mode over balance. just because if we would have a balance patch, something that Mister_E doubt and here I give him the point (I believe it also), problems could reappear pretty fast.

oh brave new world that has…wait a minute… no people in it?

been bearing the dreadful party finder to finally get havoc 40 done.

did so this weekend and the gist was basically the same:
•10 minutes+
•rejected rejected rejected
•finally one decent looking team with a setup that “could” work, fail at around the 30 minute mark
•team scrambles

so thats 40 minutes down the gutter of a day that has around 3 hours game time.

and this is me currently at home all day due to fighting c4ncer.

with my usual 10 hour shifts i cant imagine havoc being a source of content for my channel or means of investing time that nets any value.

if anything i voice my discontent at havoc being anything than a side snack when its availability to actually make it your main thing is based on external factors some dont have or want : premades.

sure 3 buddies and me, equally “unemployed” would have a field day with havoc.
than again it aint 1996 anymore and i’m not sitting in the basement for 4 days straight feeding on 3 tictac while skipping school :smile:

in order for havoc to be a balancing metric it has to be a 24/7 insta access metric in the first place.
and this looong before any ingame adjustments be made in that directon, nerf or buff.

as for havoc “modifiers” that skew heavily to the premade/“we “need” book bubble voc” shenanigans, all wipes so far were due to captain spam in combo with the “twins”

thats it.

no magic aura to any rainbow modifier that “wouldnt” be doable without a certain loadout or weapon.

emperors fading farts, gas, red yellow or atoma street day flag… you even at least play somewhat proficient (which at this point one should do when joining havoc), its auric maelstrom with moebian 21, cranial, crusher gallore and maybe a neat ritual sprinkled in.

they might be revisited my map desginers in their placements, a low 10% of wipes did so cause rituals popped next to each other with no chance in hell to get both done.

so, what do we have here so far thats the fear inducing havoc-erlking?

boss spam and mechanics overlapping… reign those two in and voila, some more stuff gets viable in havoc instantly.

does it take off the edge for premades, yep but honestly if that means the rest gets to experience havoc, i guess you know my approach by now :joy:

next, get rid of those silly ranks and make parties freely pick map and difficulty range.

like A.S.S far to many people piggy backed to 40 without contributing equal to the outcome, seen 40s drop in lower havocs doing stuff that wouldnt even fly in maelstrom :man_shrugging:

open em up, give people the chance to throw themselves at 40s without demotion or barriers and you’ll have a full party finder of far less fearful people, hence less rejections.

ALL that done, THEN we take a look at talents and weapons and reign them in to the boss-debeaked


havoc environment, leaving modifiers like enraged,garden etc as measure of how voc, chorus etc should perform.

basically in that order
access>modifiers>talents>weapons

i do however utter my opinion for better or worse cause up until now i loved darktide unconditionally and thats been stained by havoc recently

first of all I hope you feel better.

I really dont have a problem spending 30 minutes playing a game just to wipe in the end i’m good on resources for the rest of the games lifespan but going through the hassle of party finder is beyound annoying
imo they should change into 5 tiers(40 35 30 25 20) and add quickplay as a secondary option for people that dont wanna bother with party finder

side effects vary but are “bearable” :smile: treatments working so that keeps me going.

was mentioning it as an example of ample “free time” if you wanna call it that and still loads of it wasted in the mechanic, not the game itself.

absolutely, not only is it a vital part of the game (without stakes there’d be no reward) its also the best source of learning material.

a good wipe still gets uploaded cause win or loss i played my heart out and still pulled off some good stuff.

havoc though, due to its fear mechanic of demotion etc, has it perverted to the point where even good teams bail at the first strike to “play it safe”

cant blame em, dont have to like it still :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

got an excise vault match that worked well until it didnt, again captain and twins spam was the culprit, team would have done it second attempt no doubt.

unless there was no second attempt… fail…silence…xxx left your squad..

oookay, back to the drawing board.

the wipe was educational, the party finder desert afterwards was not :man_shrugging:

Completely different times.

The review bombing was because this was in the RNG weapon era where it was entirely possible Fatshark could just decide to brick a weapon for no reason and players wouldn’t be able to change anything.

Nowadays you can nerf and people will just shrug and change the meta. You’re not going to see review bombs because it’s an entirely different context.

But then again this is Fatshark, changing in any kind of quick fashion is impossible.

Asked chatgpt a list of games, to wait for Dune.

Bought Remnant II (coop and solo with a new dlc released with ranged weapons and part of melee) just to test it. I also have AC shadows (pure solo) that I complete actually.

Must say that lot of times I am fed up of the team with who I play.
I don’t say that they’re wrong, they love rushing missions. I don’t.
But, facts is that after 1 or 2 missions at running after the other teammates, I really would like to play solo. However, in solo we have bots with worst weapons of the game…

I want a game with melee and ranged that have a fast and intense gameplay…
Funny part is that chatgpt had incorrect informations. He pointed that Darktide would receive soon an update to introduce a solo game mode :laughing:

But yes I wait for Dunes. Because the game has these points:

  • melee and ranged fights (in desert less melee as shields are dangerous, away of the deserts melee will be more important)
  • pve so solo possibilities including cooperation
  • crafting and base building
  • the universe (and that’s pretty important for me, dune universe > warhammer 40k for me)
  • women that look women (at contrary of darktide where they have no boobs)
  • pvp… Yes cause it can be interesting if well done. Must admit I am interested by the mechanic behind the deaths (decay + resources lost or total lost if eaten by worms)

I feel like the state Ogryn weapons just emerged from their class rework in is being ignored. With the exception of Power Maul (honestly I’d call it an A with a pre-made that can work around it) every Ogryn weapon came out of the class rework oven as an S or an A tier.

That would strongly suggest to me that Ogryn average weapon ability is the new Dev goal for game average weapon ability.

That and the power level from the tree… I expect same changes for zealot and veteran for all sort of builds.

I’m not sure anymore what is the Darktide Fatshark wants. Their main combat designers has left and set up his own shop. Last time I heard he was consulting for Arrowhead of Helldivers 2 fame. Maybe just maybe Fatshark should pay the consulting fees :grin:

Still for me all Tide games suffer from some basic game design issues which become more apparent as the horde grows. Visual issues due to the “grey upon grey” blob on enemies, hyper-density, and in Darktide some lighting issues. It’s often hard to distinguish high threat enemies in the mass in the front of you. Audio issues at this point are legendary. Just yesterday I got pounced at by a silent dog to be followed up by a silent trapper a second later. Luckely the trapper was so close I staggered it with a push. Engine limitations or human error?

Top comments really are the average 40k power gamers. “Its lore accurate” if the plasma gun was this easy to use and this powerful with literally 0 downsides I think the imperium would have won all 40 thousand warhammers by now.
