More Gating Needed

Gating behind RNG? No, thanks.

Yea I still think it could be designed better. Rng matchmaking is the only option through the game that I’m aware of. Other games have had so kind of “relative ranking system” because of this very problem. I’d even be for them “loosening” the rankings as to not limit our player pool too much, but that dude we played with a couple nights ago seriously died dozens and dozens of times. That has to be a design flaw and should be addressed as one.

Some co op games give handicap to lower level players, some gate it through item score, some by stats of the player, etc…my point being most gaming company try to address it

I refuse to use the revolver. It brings me out of my 40k immersion.

In fact, I don’t use any other range weapon than the Flamer or the Boltgun for the same reason. This is not Call of Duty. This is 40k.

If I join with my lvl 20 twink, I’ll do better than most freshfaced lvl 30

I understand why gating would be wanted.
But also why it would be putting artificial limitations on players.

Tired of having random lowbies? Make friends :joy:

That’s the worst idea I have heard of in co op game like DT.

I have got 300+ hours with less than 10 “toxic games”.

You introduced a mmr system that makes you lose imaginary numbers when your team is wiped out by some one messing up and your gonna see people screaming and reporting everyone.

You also will have the problem of the level 31 people’s having the hardest time in the world clearing auric and people 150+ complaints that the hardest content is to easy and the 500+ unable to even find games.

Lol you must not hear of many ideas then

I also rarely encounter toxic players and I wouldn’t consider a player being really bad as toxic.

You raise good points that would need to be addressed.

It is up to Darktide how they would implement a sort of “MmR”. I agree with you that team wipes shouldn’t be a factor. I would focus on kills, damage taken, revives, maybe time in coherency?…etc. Sure, if you get a horrible team once in a while that might bring you down a little bit, but it should bring everyone down a little bit and I still think you’d have an accurate representation of your relative skill to other players.

Edit: you raise another good point about being “too good” and having no one to play with. We could maybe have the “damnation bracket” be a certain lvl MmR (that is realistically easy to get to) and once you cross that it doesn’t matter how much higher you go. Feel free to scrutinize that but I think that’s work?
