For the love of the Emperor, please give us one of these:
Play mission solo (bots only) (THE BEST)
or
Restric missions levels to allow only chars above a certain level (e.g. do not allow level 2 chars on Malice missions)
or
Let me say I do not want to play with anyone below lvl X
It is incredibly frustrating when you do not have a group of friends to play (or they happen to be on steam and me on gamepass), and you are forced to play with randoms that have no clue about the game mechanics.
At level 10, I can easily clear out an Uprising mission playing with just bots, and not even one bot dies. Playing with randoms, I got wiped 3 missions in a row! That is so frustrating that makes me think why the heck am I still trying to play this game?
Reading this pretty much says, that you´re not that good at the game as you believe imo.
There are a lot of good players out there being able to dive into malice at level 3 and carry the run. Level 5 would be easier with the toughness feat. Same counts for heresy on level 10 etc…
If you struggle to finish a game with randoms on uprising at level 10+, which is pretty much level 1 entry, then it´s the whole team failing, not just the randoms.
The reason why it´s easier with bots is, because they´ll always stay close to you and pretty much protect you, meanwhile the damage income on dif 1+2 is a joke. But this works only on uprising, maybe even malice with a bit of skill and gear.
At least Damnation should be restricted to only be playable after reaching lv 30.
Sometimes you quick play join and wonder why the heck someone unperformed so hard, just to then see at the mission failed screen, that you had 2 pre lv 30 players on that mission. They lack the last Ability row and most of the time even the experience.
And since the Material update, more and more people flood the high difficulties, to try and grab some resources while being carried on a tier they would never have joined 1 week ago.
I would only disagree a little on the damnation statement, I think a very skilled level 20 or decent level 25 can do it, but otherwise unless your one of the best players, probably not a good idea to jump on it. But having access to it at 11 just seems like a poor idea
The game is super easy to level in, but people are just impatient, arrogant and at worst willing to leech so this is an issue.
Damnation is a no-brainer to have a level 30 restriction. Sure, some may be pro gamers who don’t need to grind any equipment and missing feats, and can pull their weight, but the vast majority need to wait until 30.
Heresy needs to have at the very least a level 10 requirement, but I would suggest level 15 for the good of the other players.
If my text insinuated that I was a good player, it was not my intention. I am NOT a good player. At best, I am average.
And yes, with the bots, the main reason I can clear missions is that they stick together, which is a basic game mechanic. If a player did not comprehend that easy one, he will struggle a lot with the others. So doing a mission, instead of challenging and fun, it becomes a pain and boring.
Because I wanted to continue playing this game, I had to resort to either playing at Heresy level, which for me, at lvl 11 makes me the one that is being an idiot because I feel that my play skill is not at the correct level, and therefore I am now doing to others what I didn’t like being done to me.
Or (which is what I am doing now), loading to malice, check socials and if I see any player lvl 5 or below, I block them, exit the mission, and load into another. Which is certain not the best option, but at least keeps me sane.
There are a lot of complaints about bad players, and I’m sure I’m considered one of them by some and not by others.
I dunno. The good and pleasant groups I end up in on any difficulty level far outweigh the bad ones. I constantly wonder if I have just been consistently lucky for years on end through Vermintide or if some people just let a few bad apples get to them.
Just to be clear. If the whole teams goes down on Damnation I have a very hard time carrying the situation until people are back up. It has happened, but not consistently. I see players that actually manage this and I’m in awe. I also see people rushing ahead (often a Zelot, but I’d prefer not to generalise) and just dying. On Damnation, as an Ogryn, I find that I constantly have to go from cover to cover and quite often pull back if a room is filled with ranged. I love this positioning puzzle, but it’s hard with other people when you’re not communicating over Discord or similar.
… but I get where you are coming from. I would not mind there being a solo bot option, but I genuinely believe you are losing out if you take this route, but who am I to judge how other people want to enjoy the game especially when it’s not affecting others.
Players who want to play solo with bot in this game are going to leave it if they don’t release a private mode. A lot of people are complaining because they can’t play the game like they want, dev need to understand that and do something ! A player who is playing the game can buy skins but if he is not playing at all…
To clarify, I am a new player, as my max char is an Ogryn lvl20, and I want back to my Psyker at lvl 14 now. I haven’t even tried Damnation missions.
I do not really want to play solo all the time. My “pain” is that as I am leveling up, there is a tremendous amount of people that are going on missions way above they skill level and ruining the fun of this game.
As an example, yesterday I had 4 or 5 games in a row where we wiped. At Malice level!!
On the good side, today, I had 3 fabulous runs, there were people above my level and below my levels, but we moved as a group, rangers were killing range targets, melles were killing melee mobs, critical enemies were being highlighted and swiftly dispatched. When a player moved out to loot boxes, someone went with him, and the rest of the group stopped advancing. There was no discord, no pings, but everyone had a reasonable idea of how the game works and made the runs very fun. (and yes, in all the runs I was the weakest link or at least the guy that had to be picked up a couple of times ).
All I “want” is for the game to allow me to level up in a fun and enjoyable way and not force me to play with players that not yet learn the bases of the game. Bear in mind, the game also gives no info or clue that at level 3 you probably should NOT be running Malice missions. And yes, the game does say and repeat many times to stay together, but we all know that most people won’t pay attention to that.
The only way I can think of to prevent this is to either restrict missions to player levels (which I understand my cause some players to not be able to play the way they want) or give me a option to set min levels of people I want to play (which is technically harder, and also not the best option).
Alternatively, allowing full solo play would solve the problem without “hurting” the game for anyone else. And we basically already have that, just duos and not solos! (which, IMO, is kind of dumb that they made duos possible but not solos!)
It is already there.
If you don’t believe me, create a new operative and test it.
I strongly disagree.
While I can do damnation with my zealot like a normal run, it took me some time. And I try now with a veteran, but I do not succeed like I would want.
But I have seen several players be better than me and that went without even have the level 30.
I disagree for gated difficulties and am in favor of removing any level restrictions on any difficulty it’s pretty great in vermintide 2 seeing a level one join legend and the team gives a warm welcoming, becomes a fun escort mission.
If multiple level ones join it’s pretty funny, if everyone is a low level it’s pretty funny as well, just leveled a psyker and the same people from each difficulty previous game all jumped up myself included to the next difficulty. Played with the same group up to heresy where you start getting dps checked. As a psyker going into damnation was easy as soon as you have the bubble shield and smite. You don’t even need weapons or other skills to make that an easy leveling build, too bad the other classes are getting nerfed from op builds
Vermintide 2 player base shows op builds can exist and people don’t have to play with them. If you see machine gun dwarf you can just not join or quit and move on to the next. If you join in as grail knight and everyone is ranged killing everything you can go for the ride or quit to find another game so they can get their fourth ranged player or rejoin as a ranged player
Fatshark needs vermintide 2 matchmaking system not a level gate, you can quickly read lobby leader and know if they are competent or not or what’s the team is missing. Also allows making friends faster if you play a lot with the same leader when they are online.
If you want solo play just to get away from other people because you think bots are better than I feel sorry for the bots having to carry you.
Solo play is needed for testing builds in the map itself, or to try to challenge yourself with less or no bots.
