Can we have at least a minimum level 30 requirement for difficulties 4-5? that or lock under level 30’s in those difficulties to private games? It seems unreasonable to force others to carry a level 25 on damnation who’s dying in every encounter.
I have to carry level 150s who are down in every encounter as it is. I think this complaint is overblown.
I agree with Reg, there are a lot of people at or above level 30 who fit into this category. It’s one of those things that we have to wait for them to get better at the game, or get better yourself and carry the games for them.
As with everything, people get better with more experience.
There is never a guarantee that anyone will get “good” after a specific amount of time they spend doing something, but it is clear that more time spent doing something, usually results in an increase in proficiency.
Yes, some players with hundreds of levels on their character, still suck.
Yes, some players with only few levels on their characters, play pretty well already.
Some people learn extra slowly and some learn faster.
But even those people were less good than they are now, before they got the experience they have now.
Some people being very slow learners, is not an argument against setting a reasonable threshold for players to reach, before they are allowed into a group, where they are expected to carry their own weight by performing to a certain standard (and where they waste everyone’s time if they don’t).
The question is, where that threshold is.
For the auric playlist, i think there should be slightly more gatekeeping.
For the regular playlist, i have no opinion, because i do not play it.
As long as they’re actually trying, and not just expecting a free carry for extra loot, I think it’s almost endearing. There’s a lot of comedy in watching badly outgunned pubs flail around. Reminds me of when freshly promoted dwarves would randomly join modded haz 5+ lobbies in DRG.
Look I can reasonably get behind more gate keeping for auric Maelstrom, maybe even at a stretch the auric board in general (let’s be real though, a lot of those modifiers really aren’t that hard on their own), get the hell out of here with more restrictions for base Damnation. I’ve absolutely breezed through with 20s and watched over 30s flail and die because they have absolutely no sense.
That’s all it really takes to beat base Damnation, some basic sense of team play, it really does not require much raw DPS or mechanical skill to get through. Putting more restrictions on Heresy of all things is entering very funny joke territory.
Doing it at Auric level seems fair - many games have some conditions attached to top difficulty.
For Heresy/Damnation, I don’t think a minimum level would be that big of a deal - I feel like entering higher difficulties at a lower level will be a less enjoyable experience overall. As to the specific numbers, I’m not really sure what they should be - 20/25 possibly? If I’m not mistaken, FS rebalanced XP requirements to make 1-20 go a bit faster, so that seems like a reasonably natural point to introduce a higher difficulty for greater XP gains
If nothing else, a once-off warning when you toggle the higher difficulty settings might not do any harm, just to indicate the spike in difficulty - I would like to think that most players are looking to have a fun/challenging game and that deliberately leeching for resources etc is not the prevalent playstyle.
